The game was over before the kickoff... 2nd and 3rd series they had a couple gains but thats just not who they are...

And you would still be behind by 3 TD's. We must have watched different games. This Mayfield team would have beaten any team in 1A this year regardless if they tried to hold the ball or not. Their Defensive speed was the difference.

The area... Mayfield is by no means a metropolis... but the Paducah/Mayfield area is a fairly populous area with several schools traditionally to draw from (Used to be you had Heath, Tilghman, Mayfield, Lone Oak, Grave County, and Reidland). Obviously consolidation has changed that, but it doesn't change the fact that if you are a young parent and have a son and want him to excel in academics or athletics which school district out of those would you choose to live in?
If you were a former Cardinal who won a title at Mayfield and you work in Paducah and have a son.. you may very well choose to commute an extra 10 minutes each day if it means sending your son to follow in your footsteps at Mayfield.
As a Russell fan you have an idea of how this works..I am sure over the years there have been more than a fair share of parents who have opted to put their kids in the Russell school district or specifically wanted them to play for McGlone instead of Ashland and Raceland...the same can be said vice versa as well. That luxury typically doesn't exists in less populous areas. If you live in Wburg you "could" send your kids to Whitley, Corbin, Lynn Camp, or Wburg's school district... but the draw and history isn't really as big of a factor.

Congratulations Mayfield. Nothing to hang your hats about Williamsburg. Mayfield is the best team in 1A, 2A, 3A, and 5A.

You must pick and choose which posts of mine you want to read. I agree Mayfield would beat everyone in 1A easily. All i said is i think a team with a balanced offense like hazard matches up better than a team like williamsburg because of their style of play. Even tho i would take the burg over hazard. Its all about matchups. BTW you would only be down 14 after 2 possessions, 7+7=14....

Drugs or alcohol or both

Cheersâ¦
So much for SUR streaking the Hilltopper quad. Sure hope 55 provided KY on that whole sign placement. Congrats to the Cardinals on the win. I'll look forward to a potential rematch next season.
Safe travels to all, please take Wides keys away from him if you see him!

Mayfield was the better team in all facets of the game, but, W'Burg didn't help themselves either. You go conservative off the bat and then get your punt blocked and Mayfield the ball at the 1. A couple of ints, a couple of fumbles, a couple of sacks and all of a sudden that talent differential looks a lot bigger. To beat a team like Mayfield, you can't turn the ball over and make mistakes because they're going to pounce on those opportunities and make you pay. Granted, there offense was going to score, even W'Burg had to know that, but, for the Jackets to have any chance, they were going to have to shorten the game and pick up some 1st downs and keep the Cardinal offense off the field. They just couldn't do it. Mayfield's DL dominated the Burg's OL from the word go. I do think a better running team could have kept the score closer.

You left out 4A. Top team in 5A is better than 4A, so they should be able to beat them too...

How in the h&ll do you people become mods. Mayfield is no where close to the best team in those other classes. Mayfield wouldn't beat the top 8 2A teams. Trolls must be overpopulated this time of year, seems to be a lot of em around.

Mayfield just handed Williamsburg their heads today. Mayfield's D ends and their offensive line controlled the game. Mayfield score on their first 2 offensive plays. Williamsburg was playing catch up from that point. Mayfield is to talented for Williamsburg to play on their heels against. Congrats to both teams.

I think u would be wrong there northky. We beat Murray a top 10 2a school easily should have beaten caldwell county who lost to Murray also beat 3a Paducah Tilghman and 6a Macracken county a top 10 6a team. Look up our schedule u might be surprised. We could hang with all the 2a teams most of the 3a teams after that its a numbers game.

Murray is not very good. You wouldnt beat ncc, somerset, caldwell (we know that already), desalles, glasgow, prestonsburg, middlesboro, ok top 7. U didnt exactly blow Murray out. Not impressed at all with the schedule.

They are very good. But this again? They get 1A and 2A, but doubtful on 3A. Wayne and Belfry both would win.

This is an intelligent comment. Actually I have given Mayfield fans on here some grief over their comments about winning 3A, etc.. I do think Mayfield would play any 3A team close, including Wayne and Belfry. They are an excellent school, but they aren't or shouldn't be considered some underdog, even against 3A schools, they are built to excel, especially at football.

Posted earlier read the thread, will post more when I get home...Once again congrats to Mayfield...Total domination...

From watching the Belfry/Wayne game, they'd both have there hands full against Mayfield. Wayne has no running game, Belfry has no passing game. There defenses are both very good though and they'd make it tough on Mayfield, too. I'd probably take Mayfield, but, it wouldn't shock me either way, other than it being a blowout one way or the other.

Congrats Mayfield. Total domination from start to finish. Keep your heads up Jackets, you will be back next year. Hey, Myson, I think #55 played well for Williamsburg. Maybe our 55 and your 55 can match up next year.

Congratulations to Mayfield from 64SUR, I said all year we was coming to bowling green an we did. Now we are coming home with a 2nd place :Second:: trophy and if we play this team 10 times we would lose 10 times,You have Mayfield this year in a 1A Class by themselves. I want to make that clear for everybody in 1A,no excuse here we got our butts kick :Sad04: :Sad04: :Sad04: :Sad04:

Mayfield was a class bunch. Team acted like they had been there before. Played good hard football with no extra curriculars. Fans were great. Sorry the weather was so miserable and I didn't get a chance to mingle. Hope to be back next year.

Pikeville had their chance when they put up 3 on Raceland. Williamsburg scored 34 on Raceland the next week.
