Dale Mueller resigns from Highlands
#1
Who is the new favorite for the HC at Highlands?
#2
Holy shit I just saw this on Twitter...
#3
Is this for real?
#4
I'm stunned honestly
#5
Yes. Mueller is out at Highlands
#6
Truth is stranger than fiction.

I think the question is, do they stay within the program? Outside of Highlands, I'd say:

Lickert - Campbell County
Hilvert - Thomas More
Geistling - Anderson (OH)
Dattilo - Sycamore (OH)

People in the know knew this since last year.
#9
Mr.Wienrich is my guess for the job

Will this, then, become the first open job in which Chuck Smith is NOT rumored to be the leading candidate?
#13
This is official, true, and mrb5150 is correct the inner circle knew this a year ago. He promised his family one more year and he would resign.

Congratulations to Coach Mueller on a legacy very few if any will ever surpass in khsaa football. The man serves as a great example on how to delegate, id strengths and weaknesses, motivate kids, team build, and WIN!

Thanks for upgrading the overall quality of hs football in Kentucky!

Enjoy field hockey…sorry gang the field hockey thing was a gag. I've got nothing but the upmost respect for this man!

Wow. I did not expect this at all. What an ending to an unbelievable coaching career at Highlands. He will be remembered as one of the greatest high school coaches of all time in Kentucky. Whether you like Highlands or not, you have to respect Coach Mueller and what he did to the program.

Not really...have no idea whats going on over there...dont really care. Just trolling alittle.

Recently being coached by coach Mueller, I can honestly say that I could not have asked for a better coach, both in football and in life. Coach Mueller is, in every sense of the word, AWESOME.
#17
Wow.... this is hard to fathom... arguably the greatest coach in KY HS History stepping down!

Much respect to Mueller... even though some people like to take their pot shots and rag Highlands posters... there is no denying that Mueller is a living legend.

Weinrich! He has been the "Assistant Head Coach" and Dale had been grooming him all along. Dale was stepping down after this season regardless of the outcome Friday, so let the "Scats" chatter away, but this has nothing to do with the loss. As for the cupbard, it is more than full for Weinrich to win a state title in his first year!

Dale will now concentrate on only being the Athletic Director and building the rest of the sports.

This is a harder loss for the Birds than Saturdays loss. He will be missed for more than just his coaching of football! Not a total surprise, the writing was on the wall with Weinrich named Co-head coach this year.

I think Weinrich has actually been listed as Co-Head Coach for three years. He has been groomed for this from the beginning. At the age of 40, he should be around for a long time.

The telltale sign should have been at the Ft. Thomas football post season event, one in which Dale historically addresses the teams and passes on his words of wisdom. This year is was Brian who addressed the teams with Dale standing at his side.

I also erred, Brian has already coached the Birds to a State Championship. Last year when Dale was called away for a family emergency, it was Brian who coached the team in last years finals victory.

What happened to the freshman coach? I thought he was being groomed for the head coaching job when Dale left.
#23
Just saw this on twitter... Wowwwwww.
#24
^ I'm not sure that Behymer was ever groomed as Head Coach. Weinrich was Dale's handpicked choice for a while.
#25
Was this something known or set in stone from the start of the season? I cant immagine it having anything to do with losing in the championship game.
#26
^ He had told his family before the season. I think that everyone was skeptical until he actually made it official.

Those in the know said the decision was made last Dec.

If anything, the ship is sinking because the captain's jumping ship.

I hate Highlands. I think it's classless the way Dale would run up the score on high school kids, but he was a hell of a coach and built a hell of a program, so I gotta give him that.

That's what Lorenzen was saying.

I'm blown away............ I honestly can't believe it, especially after just losing the state title, even if he did plan to resign.

It may be rich with players and Dale may have built a great feeder program, so they'll still be competitive, but Dale is a great offensive mind, which the offense is Highlands' calling card, so will they still rattle off title after title?
