What do the Redhounds return in 2014?
Who will replace Waddell as their primary offensive threat?
How will their defense look after losing some solid Seniors?
What are their expectations?

They are returning almost all skill players. They starting tail back, qb, and wr!! They loose 4 out of the secondary on d with waddle and Jackson being the only ones who impacts the next years squad. They will loose a couple really good d linemen and one off the o-line.
They are loaded with very talanted under classmen I would expect Corbin to play for the district title!! Should be between them and bell wayne lost 17 seniors but should still be decent. Offensively I think Corbin should be much improved if you go back and look at the stats waddle didn't do as much as one might think. His biggest attributes were his speed and he kept defenses guessing. Look for a couple of RB's to step up and replace his production. Coppick should be a stud this year and with Corey taylor being a senior I expect better play from the qb. His favorite target returns at we he as a freshmen last year. Corbin should be alright but they will not get out of the region in playoffs IMO.

1. They return 9 starters on offense and 6 on defense, with one player starting on both sides of the ball.
2. Coppock was their go to guy last year and will be again next season.
3. Defense should be solid, lost 5 good players, but LB Ledford should be back after getting injured in the first game of the year. Also some of the offensive starters may move over and play some defense if needed next year.
4. Fans expect them to go undefeated.

Judging solely by returning talent vs. 2013 success... it would appear Corbin and South Warren are probably the early favorites in the West in 3A with Bell, Central, and Wayne County close behind.
Only having one guy play both ways is definitely a major asset for Corbin as well.

They will lose both safeties in Waddle and Adams, Liford & Lane on the defensive line and Jackson, who played LB. They also lost a couple of solid backups on defense in Chadwell and McHargue.
I hope they have a few more kids like Liford and Lane over on the bench, who both turned in very good senior seasons in what was really their first varsity opportunity.

They also lose Lambert on the d-line, who played well in his only year.

Lambert will be a JR next year!! They lost lifted and lane which were the best two defensive linemen they had.

They lost much more than most realize. Jackson was possibly their best player, family ties kept him from shinning. He was for sure the best defensive player.
Playing the same schedule next year will come back to bite them again. Little Jewell will be the star of the show.

Sorry fans, as long as Jewell and Farris are calling the shots Corbin will not win the district. Bell will win with Corbin beating Wayne at home for second place. I hate to say it but just wait and see. Offensively you will see Coppack carrying the load with daddy trying to give Tucker as many carries he can. Waddle's stats were not that dynamic but it was due to injury and Willard refusing to use him and/or not knowing how. The big difference is how his presence changed the entire offense. Defensively, they will be solid. Biggest loss on defense is Liford and Jackson. Those two were warriors. Those three seniors will be the biggest loss and i really don't know who can step up into those roles. I expect Ledford and both Reedys to be important role players as well as Powers, Coppack, Nance, and Taylor. I'm sure others are very capable but I doubt Jewell and Farris will use them. I wish them the best but I don't expect much difference from this year. There's a ton of talent but its not utilized properly. Regardless, best of luck hounds, can't wait for next year.

Will Carter, who looks like he could be a rising star as a RB, stick with the Hounds or will he be wearing orange in the future?

Jackson will be a big loss defensively, and he, along with Liford, will be the hardest to replace. I have heard that some of the staff didn't like his dad.
If your last statement comes true, there will be big time problems.:ChairHit:

Hate to say this but if those kids/parents are smart they will be looking elsewhere for kids to go.
Nothing will change in Corbin at least for the next 3 years.

Sadly, you are absolutely correct. Corbin is becoming a great feeder program to our neighboring teams. Our neighbors don't need a strong youth league. They just need Jewell and Farris to stay at Corbin. :Sad04:

Lot of good players coming back. Kids can make dramatic changes in a years time. They have a lot if kids who are known commodities. Some of the other kids needs to step up so that Corbin can be competitive on the state level. Hounds need some surprise contributions.

Corbin will have the talent to make a run at the region this year. The coaching staff has to play to this teams strengths. And they will be fine.

Mark this down and take it for what you will.
Jewell will resign after the 2016 season.
Until then, you've got him.

will they give Whitley County some players back to go with their new coach?

I'm not sure they have anyone to give back to Whitley. Nance transferred to Corbin in the 8th grade, but I thought that had something to do with a parent getting remarried, or maybe that was someone else.

It's just funny how some people are. This is true!! A middle school championship does not equal a high school championship. I guarantee that!!! That being said, Corbin will be solid. Should be district favorite and maybe #2 for regional. People and the kids need to get over the Jewell and Farris show, this is what you have got. Many years of experience and some great football knowledge. It's easy to be the Monday morning quarterback!!!!!!

I can see how it pains a Bell fan to give that advice. Kids leave now..we have nothing coming......LOL

Will all the Corbin asst coaches be back next year? I have heard a that a couple won't be returning.

just curious but how many kids are on the Corbin team that should be at other schools, like Lynn Camp, Whitley, knox, laurel,

Full deck Wrote:just curious but how many kids are on the Corbin team that should be at other schools, like Lynn Camp, Whitley, knox, laurel,
Corbin has approximately 600 kids who attend their schools who live outside the district, with the majority being from the Knox/Lynn Camp area. There are probably close to 200 who would be high school age, so I'm sure some of those kids probably play football. I'm only aware of one player that has transferred in after starting high school who is currently on the team.
Corbin is in kind of a unique situation because of geography, a lot of kids live in what is basically Corbin, but not within the school district boundaries. The Corbin schools are often much closer to where they live than say Whitely Co. or South Laurel High Schools. Also, many of the parents work in Corbin which makes it more convenient as well. Their academic reputation also is a big factor in getting so many out of district kids.
The School Board just recently stated that they are going to have to cap the number of out of district students due to the schools being at capacity, even though they just built a new school and enlarged the high school.

I think Corbin really depends on those out of district kids. Its why the whole reciprocal deal went to court. Knox County seen the money (and maybe talent) they were losing to every year and wanted those kids at KC and Lynn Camp.
Personally, Im not sure if a school like Corbin or Williamsburg could survive if it weren't for schools like Whitley whos willing to allow kids in the county to attend city schools and not fight it.
If Corbin would have never started annexing into the county, then the new school wouldn't even be in city limits I believe.
I don't know the exact numbers, but I would think Corbin is probably getting around 20% of the Oak Grove kids when its time for middle school. Oak Grove is probably Whitleys best academic elementary school, and parents do not mind sending there kids to there and once they get to middle school, parent would rather send there kids 10 minutes up the road to Corbin, than sending them 20-25 minutes to Whitleys middle school. If it were strict rules that you had to send a kid to the school district you live in, no questions asked, then I would imagine that Corbin would lose atleast 15% of its kids, maybe more. Corbin gets a lot of kids from the falls road area that's out of city limits and down 26 toward Woodbine.
As for Wburg, they are a very small school, but even they have a lot of kids from out of city limits. Its just the way it works.
I do agree with you though. When I was in school, I lived much closer to Corbin High School than I did Whitley, but I did not live inside city limits. It would have made more sense for me to go to Corbin proximity wise, but it just wasn't in the cards for me.
On a side note, look at Bacon Creek for example. Once you get past the nursing home, you are out of city limits. However, you are only a quarter of a mile from Exit 25, and only 5 miles from Corbin High School, but since its outside city limits, most of those kids go to Whitley, and they have to get on the interstate and drive about 15 miles all together to get to Whitley.
