2015 Realignment Numbers
sstack Wrote:No way Highlands wants to stay in a weak district and have to drive long distance to play teams like Harrison, Mason, and Bourbon, when they can petition to play up in 5A with local and better teams like COV CATH, Cooper, and Conner.

They are using the four year enrollment numbers which means that CCH stays 4A.
That's what I was saying earlier about schools not being able to play down. Except for the two rare cases of a merger in the middle of a cycle, it just isn't done.
If you choose to play up, you're willing to put yourself at something of a competitive disadvantage as far as numbers. It's just not very sporting (for the lack of a better word) to ask to play against smaller schools.
Well, since they are going to 4 year averages, and letting people play up, these numbers are useless.

Until we know whos playing up, its impossible to make a list.

I can tell you one thing, I could see Highlands and CC staying in 4A instead of playing up.

I can also see that dream of a 3A class we had worked out being obliterated.
Realignment information is up on KHSAA website since yesterday and no one has posted on it yet?? You guys are slacking....

I Rule, I guess you will be moving to the other district. I see Betsy Layne, East Ridge, Allen Central, Shelby Valley, and P-Burg.

Maybe if two teams move up, Morgan and Maggoffin would move down and Leslie might have a chance but I see LC with Middlesboro, LCA, Danville, and Somerset.
I'm sure West Carter and Bath will petition to move up and Morgan and Magoffin will move down. I think this moves Middlesboro back to the eastern portion of the state. I think there will be some major district shake-ups. I don't think Somerset, Danville and Lex. Chr. will be in each others District. Think they will be in three seperate districts.
Everyone thinks Johnson Central will petition to move up to get away from Highlands. If Letcher County Central and Perry County Central stay put, does Johnson Central go ahead and do it when it puts them on an island about 2 hours away from everyone else? How much is the easier path to the championship game worth to them?

So for JC to escape the NKY teams, they are going to make life and travel hard on other teams. Why should a team have to travel 2 hours because the JC coach c ant beat the NKY teams.

I will bet JC stays put and winds up in a district with Perry, Letcher, Clay, and maybe Knox. This district would be the opposing district in their region to the district they are in now (Ashland, Boyd, Rowan, Greenup, and adding East Carter in 2015). They wouldnt see Highlands until the semi's. I think they take that and their chances then with the kids coming out of the middle school.
I don't think Letcher will be in 4A. Harlan Co and Perry Co being so close we would either pick up North and South Laurel or stay the way it is. Which is closer to LCC, Laurel Co or Whitley?

2)Family
3)Cougar Athletics!

Laurel is closer than whitley.
If knox, perry, letcher, clay are in same dist, then where does rockcastle go to, we are
4A also
That is what I thought. Would make more sense.

Maybe wayne, rock, russell, mercer.

Or rock is a part of that district you listed.
I agree I think we see PCC, Letcher, Clay and Knox in one district.. Ashland, Boyd Co, Greenup Co and Johnson Central.. I'd say Easter Carter, Rowan Co, Mason County and Maybe Bourbon County. Im not real sure on the guessing of that District but id guess Highlands, Cov Cath, Harrison County and Holmes.

I looked it over this morning, didn't think about posting it.

Too many districts and not enough teams. Unless you are in 1A or 6A chances are you going to have 5 or 6 teams in a district. If everyone stays 4A then East Carter replaces JC in that district as they would be no more than a 40 minute drive to any opponent.
This was posted on KHSAA today....

The originally distributed enrollment listings have been amended to reflect the merger of Wayne County and Monticello High Schools. Wayne County would then be a 4A school, with Moore being in Class 3A. The revised documents will be posted on the website.

That's interesting...
Im going to start anew thread with the KHSAA's numbers.
