Who do they go after if Lucas leaves?

is Lucas leaving?

Robbie is not out the door yet. However with the interest from Whitley County and his name being thrown around at Boyle it would not surprise me.

I was told by an assistant coach at Somerset that they will be down and that several of the younger players will be heading to Pulaski Co. Is there any truth to that or is that a coach talking out of the side of his mouth?

Jumpers will just be young and inexperienced for a year. They may struggle but it won't be for more than a year. I haven't seen or heard of anyone transferring outside of their (very good) freshman running back to possibly southwestern.

Would hate to see Lucas leave. Have another coming up through middle school that I would love for him to play for. Any program would be proud to have him.
#7
With Pulaski loaded and French at Southwestern it just might be the perfect time to take the money and run.

Run from what?

What do the county teams have to do with any decision about the Somerset program? Will the new realignment numbers put the Jumpers in Class AAAAA?

Don't get your drawers wadded up. Kids transfer at the drop of a hat these days, and with Pulaski riding high and a new coach at Southwestern, there could possibly be some player movement, specially among young kids. As far as running, it wouldn't be from, it would be to, as to the bank.

Somerset isn't going anywhere. Numbers at the field house are very favorable and in two years will result in regional competitive teams again. Every team has a down year here and there.
#12
This has nothing to do with Somerset going anywhere. The program will be good regardless. Too much tradition to drop off the map. The question is who will be heading it? Does Lucas stay or does he go? Way too defensive. This is not a dig at the program, it's about the coach staying or leaving. As far as transfers, that was brought up in another post, in which the poster mentioned being young and inexperienced for a year.

Well, I guess this puts him at Whitley? Does he go? Do they want him?

I doubt Lucas will leave However, it wouldn't shock me if he did if he did leave saying he were to leave would he take some of his assistant coaches with him if so who? Also who would end up with the HC job at Somerset after all it is a very attractive position even though they'll be down this year there is definitely talent in the feeder System so I wonder who would get it in the end:popcorn:

^Somerset is a good job for an up and comer looking to move on to greener pastures eventually. There is always talent there to win games, but the administration is hard to deal with sometimes. Cobb would likely still be HC if not for the administration that was around in 2009.

hypothetically speaking, if Lucas accepts the Whitley job, you Somerset fans will be the first to say on here.
I expect him to tell his players and there families first. That's just the kind of guy he is.

I'm positive that if he went he would want to take his staff with him. They all know the system and have been together for several years. If he were to take the job there would be a lot of interest, and it's even possible that they give it to one of the current staffers... Remember Shs has 6 staffers in the district teaching currently, one with head coaching experience in Teague, and all with coordinator experience. There's a reason why this group has been as successful as they have, great players and good coaching. I'd hate to see it break up but these things happen in this business.

personally,I belive if Robbie Lucas leaves they will hire somebody new that most people won't like seems to be the trend at somerset right now running off good people bringing in bad
#20
^What the hell are you talking about? What trend?
#21
i'm just saying that is what this administration does runs the old people off not necessarily just coaches i'm talking about all employees
#22
i think that it will be a big disapointment to players if he leaves somerset

Your exactly right, got to keep a coaching staff together to be successful. SHS has several staff members who would be very good head coaches - Coaches Lucas Ford, Swearingen, and Singleton come to mind, they would all be great head coaches. Lucas Ford should already be one!!!!

Coach Robbie Lucas has been blessed to be able to keep these high caliber coaches around him!

Best Wishes to you Guys!

I have heard rumors that there may be some transferring to Pulaski Co but, that's just it, they're rumors at this point.

Without a doubt. Lucas is a class act. Can't deny his success since he took over at Somerset. I would be proud to say he coached my boys. Hope he stays put.

He is staying .

They should find a way to lure Hines back to his alma mater

We've got a coach now that we are happy with and proud to have. Either way I don't know if Hines would even want to come over to Somerset now. He's established himself and Pulaski, and I don't think he was too happy when Somerset went with Cobb instead of him the first time around. I'm sure Hines will be entertaining some nice suitors if he keeps up the current success at Pulaski. Hope he does, I've always liked the guy.
