Johnson Central 2014
#1
I will be the first to see everyone's thoughts on Johnson Central football for 2014.I know I can't wait to get back to football. And get people posting about JC on a JC thread.Let it start.
#2
Belfry and Ashland will be tough games. Both of those games are at home. I'm going to say 9 and 3. The other part of the schedule is week.
#3
I forgot Ironton and Harlan Co. Still going to say 9 and 3 or 8 and 4,
#4
I wonder who JC will have on the schedule. I know after the season was over, Coach Matney mentioned 3 open dates. All football has been officially over for 3 days (since Super Bowl) and I miss it already!

Pulaski county is looking for a game in week 1
#6
I'd like to see it happen, but I'm unsure of the weeks they are open. Maybe the ADs can make it happen
#7
I for one, would like to see Raceland playing JC, regaurdless of the out come, i think Raceland could benefit from the competition and JC could benefit from the gate.
#8
Does anyone have any new player updates. Eager to see a new season start. Nothing like highschool football were the love of the game is the most important thing.
#9
Yes Pulaski and Raceland would be a good add.
#10
I think that the NEKY teams need to buckle down and just play eachother. Raceland plays Ashland, so why not JC? Why not Belfrey? Imo Raceland would benefit greatly by getting rid of the Carter Co's and Greenup Co and get some more consistently better teams on the schedule. So could JC. Their schedule was VERY weak last year. The traditional NEKY powers (deep playoff teams): JC, Ashland, Russell, Raceland, then throw Ironton in the mix, Raceland is the only team thats not playing ALL of the other powers. That needs to change. Didnt mean to thread jack...i'll go search for the Raceland thread. Got Lots of family in Johnson Co. My nanny was a Van Lear Bank Mule. Always pull for em, less they start playin Rsceland again!
#11
Raceland wanting to add JC to the schedule is hilarious. Drop Greenup and add JC. Let me know how that works out for ya.
#12
As i said REGAURDLESS of the outcome, it would make them (Raceland) better. No one ever said Raceland would beat them, I think in the next few years Raceland would put up a fight and offer better competition than a football team of homeschooled kids.
#13
Doubt it. After watching their poor performance against Williamsburg, they just got ran over. JC would do the same, but it would be a closer game as far as travel is concerned.
#14
And that right there is why I feel like Raceland should play them. Idk about anyone else, but I for one have no desire to play cupcake games. I want us to play teams that could or should beat us. Our district is generally weak, then the first 2 weeks of the playoffs are as well. A sense urgency to win needs to be developed in the non-district schedule, that only comes from playing good teams.
#15
JC will be stout once again and I expect Belcher to have a huge season as well as Workman.

But losing 3/4 of your backfield, several good linemen, and nice pieces on defense including Ward and Auxier and I think the Golden Eagles take a step back a little form last season.

They are deep enough and their program is working like a machine so it won't be a major drop.. but a drop nonetheless.

Just a though since JC is looking a good competative teams to play in their non district and really gets them prep deep in the playoff ran. Why not schedule some of Lexington's 6A teams? Their a big/ physical teams just like JC. So why not schedule Lafayette, Dunbar, Henry Clay, Station or even Tates Creek. Also my though is schedule teams that has a different offense to what JC runs. Most of the schools I mentioned are a spread/ read option offense, in which JC will see deep in their playoff run... ie Cov Cath, Lex Cath, Highlands, Collins
#17
I agree that JC should look into NKY and Lex Metro area teams.

You do realize that Belcher has transferred to Paintsville??

With the 8th graders coming up (that won the state title as 7th and 8th graders) I look for the 2014 version of the Golden Eagles to be young.

Not sure on the schedule.

Looking for big things from Tyler Pack.

Any expectations from the sophomore class? I know Gunner Slone started nose against us (I don't know if he did all season)... there were a few more talented kids. Maybe a Grigsby or Frisby or something of that sort?

I don't see any way #20 from the previous 8th grade team doesn't start somewhere if they're going to be that young. Big talented kid.

I don't wish to highjack this thread and I don't know who JC will get to fill the holes, but I think Raceland playing JC, is asinine. I agree that Raceland's schedule is weak, but replacing a Greenup or Carter with a JC or Belfry is just asking for trouble.
#23
It's either that, continue to play weak teams, or travel to Hazard, Williamsburg, or the Lexington area to play better competition.

Highlands looking for a game in week one...lol
#25
Johnson Central will continue to have success with the style of play they have, but if they want to take the program to the next level they need to open some things up. If not, the realignment is quickly approaching and the possibility of being in a class without Northern powers Highlands and Covington Catholic is on the horizon.
#26
JC should schedule Prestonsburg in 2014. It well be a great game and Pburgs passing game would help prepare the Eagles for the northern ky teams. Someone needs to make this game happen.
#27
I do know, for a fact, that JC did offer Prestonsburg a rather large amount of money to play in their RECC Bowl. Prestonsburg declined. I'm with you though, it's a close game for both teams and contrasting styles of play would benefit both teams. Not to mention a large gate...maybe get a home and home.
#28
A team like JC could show Raceland what their strengths and weaknesses are. The same way that Highlands does to JC and Ashland. Idk what ur issue is with the statement I made. I gave my reasoning, yet u feel the need to try and antagonize...itis what it is. Good luck to JC next year. I dont play the back and forth game.
#29
Lol. So JC is too good to play Raceland, but fans think Prestonsburg (that lost to Pikeville, a team that lost to Raceland) would be a game worth playing?
#30
Prestonsburg was pretty much garbage compared to their usual standards. A weak district was their saving grace. JC probably needs to venture past I75 if they want a quality non district game that isn't Belfry (on most years).
