Shelby Valley players deserve more than a political figure! Lets hire someone who knows football!

The last Coach knew a lot about the game, what are you trying to say here?

I can't answer that, I do know the family and he is a good coach. I can say that Shelby Valley does have the potential to be a very very good program going forward in the future.

I was told Coach Stepp had taken an administrative position. Good luck to him and to the boys on finding them a new one!

Stepp is a great coach and he knows the game . Can blame him wanting a better position for his family. Whoever is hired we need to support him from day 1 .

I told everyone this would happen months ago. Does anyone know how long the school has to hire a new coach?
Valley has a lot of talent this year, could be there best year to compete in a while now. Anyone heard of who the new coach might be?

If it's tied in with a teaching position, as I'm sure it is....it will be the full 30 day period.
Is this the best team that they have had (potentially) since 09? That was the year that Jeff Norman took over late in the summer, and they faired pretty well.
Depending on where Valley gets placed in the new alignments, it could go from being a pretty good job to a really good job.
Anybody know what Stepp taught? Drivers Ed and Special Ed? I know thats what Norman did if I'm not mistaken.

He was an Assistant Principal I believe. There is no teaching position tied into this coaching job I don't believe.

Anybody on the current staff who teaches in the building? If so, they don't have to open it up and could name that person(s) tomorrow..or if they hire a Para-Pro, they could hire tomorrow.
Here is guessing that a teaching job will be tied to it in some capacity, and that this will go the full 30 days before it's officially announced.

Yes, this is by far the best potential valley has had since that year. And I was wondering if the alignments would have any effect of the position. I'm not sure if they have been changed around or not for valley.

Stepp was the Dean of Students

I'm not sure there district will be any different, but if they are away from Danville, Somerset and LCA in their region then that will be very favoritable for them IMO.
Geographically speaking, the eastern halves of 2A and even 3A are a cluster. So many different scenarios that could all be rationalized by certain teams....just have to see what happens. That should be out any day now, shouldn't it?

Focus on the new coach not bashing the old one! All I meant was do not hire someone who might be friend or relative just because the administration thinks they are a good guy or have coached middle school or have been an assistant. Why so defensive??

I have got news for you it will be a political hire and a friend of Napier. He is a revolving door in Pike County athletics and will be one at SV as well. Wish them the best but Pike Co politics is like no other. Most political place in the state.

3A is easy in the east but yes 2A is a cluster. I see no way they get away from Danville, Somerset, and LCA unless drastic changes are made. The good news is Chuck Smith at Boyle Co will take alot from Danville starting next season, Pulaski Co and Southwestern are already taking from Somerset, and Lex Cath will start pulling kids from LCA with a New Coach and AD.

3A not easy in the east and will definitely not be easy in the new alignment with Belfry and Boyle

Okay folks everyone on here is all about being politically correct but lets just call a spade a spade. This has been in the works since last football season. Eric Ratliff has been talking to I guess his new best friend the principal Greg Napier. I am the great know all and will bet you a 1000 dollars the next head coach is Eric Ratliff. What I don't understand other than the Ratliff and Napier are best friends I guess. I mean Ratliff has 19 wins for his career, he has been fired from Pike Central, Magoffin Co (how does anyone get fired from Magoffin), and drum roll East Ridge not once but Twice, he has coached everything in Pike Co. at about every school. I also hear he may be the next baseball coach at SV. If I was Hicks I would be getting my resume' ready because Ratliff will be after his job as well. That is if the political system that Pike is doesn't hire Justice when he wants to return home and coach basketball. Let's see let Stepp build it up and when they are on the brink of being really good, "encouraged" him out with some BS administration job so Napier can hire his new best friend Ratliff and it is sad that they were scheming this during the season last year. I guess maybe now Ratliff can finally add some wins to his column with the talent that SV has coming back. But if I am wrong it will only be because Ralph Kilgore has been fighting against this for the last decade. BUT I am going with Ratliff and ending all of this politically correct non sense. That word and Pike Co. don't go together.

Aligning the districts not the competition. It will be a murderers row.

Could be interesting when alignment comes out tomorrow. Would not want to coach anything in Pike County based on what I've heard..
