I never seen his dad play, but have only heard good things about him. Hopefully he will turn out just as good.

His dad was runner up to Mr Football in 1995.

Did you ever find out what grade the track star will be in next year or where he is coming from. What about the lb from ms what grade is he.

I don't have any new info on that. I suspect we won't get those answers til round mid July.

Ok thanks. Sounds like it might be a better season than some originally thought.

The sky was falling last year too. All we heard was, "He is gone". They were all referring to JJ and how they thought we couldn't sin without him. With the talent pool we have and the coaching staff we have , we will always be right there. I forget how many years over the past 4 decades we have at least bee to the semis. One or 2 players does not effect us like it once did.

yeah, ive seen that sort of talk. Ive seen people say jj aint as much as mayfield people make him out to be, then some of the same ones say yall dont have jj now and cant win it all without him. People just hate a winner, and like to talk smack. Kinda like a buddy of mine from caldwell that says both teams had to play in the same weather in 09 when mayfield was upset but he didnt mind saying the weather had some effect. Some people just want it both ways.

I messed up above post. I meant to say same guy didnt mind pointing out that the weather hurt caldwell in there loss to murray, but when his team beat mayfield in 09 pointed out that both teams played on same field he wanted it both ways, but we are all guilty of that.

When you start winning a lot of people get upset with you.

I like how we win most of the games against PT lately. Then , the sportscaster at wpsd says PT has the better football program.

What do you expect from a paducah news station. Next time pt wins gridiron glory will last an hour with 55 minutes of it dedicated to tilghman.

I was totally shocked when he said that on his podcast. A team with less than half the titles and has lost to us the last 8 times but they are a better program.

I didnt see it who said it. Maybe he feels that way because pt leads the series.

What's his name. The red headed one on gridiron glory.

The only name i remember is jeff bidwell. I think he is the one you are reffering to. I know louisville fans that think they have a better basketball program than kentucky, and auburn fans that think there football program than alabama. Some people will never admit another program is better than theirs even with the proof of championships.

55 i know you know alot more than me about mayfield football. Id like to see you take a stab at the starting lineup for next season at all 22 positions if you find the time thanks.

Can't speak for the west but nobody in the east has enough athletes to match up with Mayfield. They have multiple athletes all over the field. Hard to replace quarterback but they will be able to line up and just run over most teams in 1A.
05-31-2014, 07:36 PM
I can't really do the lineup now. The reason being, it would look as though I was being partial. That being because I have coached many of these boys and my own son is out there.
05-31-2014, 07:39 PM
E, you know how it goes. If we do have the most athletes there can still be other factors. Those factors could include, bad attitude, over confidence or injuries. I feel real good about our chances but, that's why we play the games on the field.

You aint no fun. Well can you at least give some kind of breakdown on how deep we are at each position. The line is a worry of mine, im sure we have some good youngsters, do you think brimer and kendall will have to play on both sides or will there be enough depth for them to be able to be fresh and mostly just play on the d line.
05-31-2014, 07:59 PM
If the youngsters develop enough over the summer they won't have to go both ways all the time. We are very deep at rb, wr , lb, cb, safety. We have 3 possibilities that I know of at qb, maybe more. We will always be able to make a line, just give the coaches a little time. We are deep.
05-31-2014, 08:56 PM
I hear landon arnett is a pretty good runner. I expect mayfield to run it more than last year. I dont expect alot of deep passes, but thats not a bad thing i just expect alot of rushing and alot of short passes. Nothing wrong with short passes, keep the chains moving and burn the clock. If the qb can just get the ball to the right spot will be fine, dont have to go for the home run to be succesville. But with all the athletes i can see alot of ten yard passes turning in to long tds with the speed, but what do i know thats just my guess.

Mayfield is better able to overcome injuries because of their depth. Lots of factors but Mayfield has to feel good about their chances. Team chemistry can be a problem but I believe Mayfield's tradition and having been there helps a ton there.
06-01-2014, 12:19 PM
I think the team chemistry should be good. I know we have the athletes and coaching staff. You just can't be to sure though.

If any of you mayfield guys know of any players that have room for and would be interested in some weights i have a bunch and would cut a good deal, i may be moving soon and need to get rid of some stuff i wont have room for.

I sure wish it was football season..

I am also too ready for season.

I doubt any of the boys need any weight equipment. They have the facility open all summer for the boys to visit. They are supposed to be adding some new equipment with some of that $8,000.00 they got from the alumni game.

New equipment along with the good water, 64 will be calling the khsaa now. If i dont find room for it i may just donate it to mayfield i just hope 64 doesnt get me lynched.

64 has already called our supplier to try to barter a deal for a large shipment of our water.
