That's a big ol' tightend for highschool. Most kids that size get relegated to lineman in highschool...at least at the nominal sized high schools. Congrats and best of luck to the kid in his athletics and academics!

Congrats to that kid, still blows my mind Austin Peay is D-1.

Austin p. has about 11,000 students. They just reovated the football field. Hope Head coach Kirby Cannon can turn the program around. Only about 75 kids in the state went D-1 last year.

Hedger picks up 2nd Offer from Hampton D-1aa. Also ranked top 25 in the 2015 class for ky.

No college football team is D1 so in that part you are right.
Schools are FBS and FCS.

Schools are fbs and fcs.
gut you are right about the lower divisions however there are
d1 colleges. In kentucky we have 3, uk, louisville, western ky
tennessee has middle tenn. Vanderbelt, university of tennessee, and memphis. I am not sure how it is determined, i think it is how many full scholarships you award, plus your schedule ohio has several miami, university of cincinnatti, akron, ohio university, ohio state, bowlingreen i know i am overlooking 2 maybe 3. Look at the schedules, austin pea plays murray, eastern, morhead, east tenn, it is totally different. Just google ncaa d1 football teams.
06-14-2014, 08:53 PM
D1 is split into FBS and FCS, I think you get 10 less scholarships in FCS? So D1 schools in Kentucky would be, UK, UL, WKU, EKU, Murray St *Morehead St(Non Scholarship)
D2- Would be Ky Weselyn, Bellarmine(No Football)
D2- Would be Ky Weselyn, Bellarmine(No Football)

no KY HAS 3 SCHOOLS in D1 NO MORE. Western, Louisville, UK Before you answer this post, just google D1 college football teams in ncaa. If they are not on that list they are not D1 . UK is in the SEC with Alabama , Texas AM, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, Missouri, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Mississippi, Mississippi State, seems there is another. Western Ky, is in the Sun Belt, U OF L is in Big East. Eastern, Murray, Austin P, East Tenn, Tenn Tech, Tenn state , and 2 or 3 more are in the OVC.
06-16-2014, 09:46 AM
EKU, Murray State are D1 schools....can they compete in the FBS playoffs? No....they compete in the FCS playoffs, which used to be called D-1AA....Does EKU, Murray get a bid to March Madness in basketball if they win the OVC? YES because they're D1. They just play at a lower level of D1. UK has played EKU in football. FBS teams can only play other D1 schools. EKU has played Louisville and will play Florida this year.....D1 FBS schools can only play other D1 schools. Not D2. RESEARCH YOUR STUFF

Seriously research this for me...What conference does Appalachian State play in? They beat Michigan a few years ago...Only D1 schools can play D1 schools but according to your "logic" Appalachian State would be D2? Apparently you know something the rest of the world and the NCAA doesn't.
"The Wolverines entered the game ranked No. 5 in both major Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) polls and media outlets considered them to be preseason favorites to win the Big Ten conference championship as well as possible contenders for the national championship, while the Mountaineers were ranked No. 1 in The Sports Network's Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) poll and were preseason favorites to win their third consecutive FCS national championship."

First I want to apologize for being rude but if you will google divison 1 football teams I just posted, it will tell you the teams in division1 and you will see where Appalachian State will be listed as a team or school who has applied to the NCAA to become A D1 school in football, there are several teams that have applied. I think the NCAA has A list of requirements schools have to meet to be considered I believe you have A stadium that is up to date and seats so many, I never said that D1 schools play only D1 schools, I did say they play often, sometimes the lower division school upsets the D1 school, they play for the money the D1 school offers. I know Brooks padded the schedule in order to win 5 games and get A bowl. HE DAMN NEAR WIPED US OUT People didn't come to the games. who wanted to see UK play popcorn U. Here is an explanation of the BCS or the DI-AA that I took offline.
The NCAA Division I Football Championship is an American college football tournament played each year to determine the champion of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Prior to the year 2006, the game was known as the NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship. The FCS has historically the highest division in college football to hold a playoff tournament to determine its champion; its 24-team tournament is still far larger than the four-team playoff system to be used used by the Bowl Subdivision beginning in the 2014 season.
Thus, EKU and Austin Peay are DI. They are a different division of DI than Kentucky and Louisville, but, they ARE DI. The championship for DI-AA or now called FCS is won in a playoff format while DI used the BCS system until this past year. DI vs DI-AA as it was called is determined by the school and the NCAA according to how many scholarships are offered and how many scholarship sports a school offers. To be considered DI by the NCAA a school must offer 7 scholarship sports for women and 7 scholarship sports for men....or.....8 scholarship sports for women and 6 for men. That is what makes a school Division I NCAA.
So in a way, everyone is right to a degree. EKU and Austin Peay are DI, just in different divisions of DI football. That is why they are all elligible to play for the basketball championship.

The fact that you STILL don't understand that there is a difference between DIVISION 1 FCS and FBS and that both are Division 1 is so insane and ridiculous that it is kind of impressive.
