Chain or Mom and Pop Restaurants....
#1
This topic was brought up on Kentucky Sports Radio a few weeks ago....

When you travel... do you stick with O'Charley's OR do you try a taste of the town?

For me.... If I go to Myrtle Beach, then give me Myrtle Beach. We try to seek out hometown pizza places.
Why do I wanna eat at a chain restaurant that is five miles from my house when I'm half way across the country on vacation?

I try for both.

The only "chain" restaurants in Hazard are fast food, except for Applebee's.

So I'm getting something new either way it goes lol

Always the mom & pop restaurants!! We found a family owned place in Dallas, of all places, back when we attended the Final 4. The same family had owned and operated this restaurant since the late 1800s. One of the older members of the family that was still working was there the day we stopped by to eat, and we all got to talking. Loved hearing her story!!! My grand daughter says that I would talk to a fence post; guess she's on to something.

Mom & pop without a doubt. I love trying new places. I base my vacation on food lol.

Always Mom and Pop unless a chain is only option available. However, if a chain isn't available where I live I might go to the chain if well recommended. Raising Canes come to mind.

Don't have one in Northern Kentucky yet exists in Lexington. The only exception to the above rules is when on vacation. Waffle House heading south into Florida. The coastal air must make it taste better. Confusednicker:

I'm a sucker for smothered and covered hash browns!

I prefer mom n pop or national chains I normally don't get to eat at.

Usually chains. I just don't trust little stores in the middle of nowhere telling me they'll fix me a sandwich. Just the other day I almost got up the nerve to eat at a little place on 80 that looked decent as I was driving back home and just couldn't after a certain smell hit me.

When we go to Myrtle Beach, we stay in North Myrtle.... about 2 blocks down from a place called HOTO's..... Harold's On The Ocean. Great little ocean front restaurant. There is also a little pizza place about the same distance, just in a different direction.

They both are wonderful.

Discovered a new chain for our family in Alabama yesterday….."Whattaburger."

Best Melt I have ever eaten. And why on Gods good earth doesn't everyone offer spicy ketchup. This place had my foodie heart in their hands when they offer grilled onions and peppers on all their burgers.

Confusednicker:

Very reasonably priced and I will visit again when through that region.
