That's an early season blow to the team. Did anyone see this coming?

From what I was told he was lazy and hadn't practiced since before his foot injury.

Hopefully it's better, I live in Central KY and I usually come up and watch a game in Ashland, I like Putnam and the whole setup! Good luck.

Did Ashland get a new field
08-08-2014, 06:25 AM
new stadium same old grass. the stadium is an upgrade but nothing like the artist rendering they have in the paper or the t-shirts they are selling

It is a work in progress for sure. I think if you expected this first phase to look like the finished architectural drawing you were not being realistic. What it will be is the only true horshoe in the area and unique. I like the bermuda grass and it is well taken care of. If it doesnt meet your standards or you call somewhere else home thats ok too. It is your choice to walk in and watch a game or not. If you choose not to, no big deal. I hope you go somewhere to your liking. Good luck this season, may your view never be obstructed and your seat always be near the bathrooms and concessions.

I always thought the Ashland field was in really good shape, don't they have a full grouds crew that takes care of it?
An artist rendering is just that, a rendering, and the final product will rarely match it to a tee. A host of items between the time of rendering and time of completion can change, namely the price in material and labor, and this will mess with the look of the final product. I've looked at the stadium several times during the process of the remodel and I think it's gonna be a great facility, once it iscompleted and I think all of the Ashland community should be very proud of it. Just my opinion.

I would at least pull for somebody that actually has a .500 record and a chance at winning.

.500 record? Nobody has played this year. Last year? Last decade? All time? Not sure what you mean.

Since this is the only field to play football on it takes a lot of abuse year JFL, middle school freshman jv and Varsity. $1000 a game for paint and 40000 a year for water plus gas and lawn care machinery it only makes sense to go with field turf eventually. The artists rendering is a 5 million dollar price tag and they font have the money. This stadium has been built on 1/3 that much.

I talk to a lot of people from the schools surrounding Ashland. In all honesty, they don't root for Ashland and they feel sure Ashland doesn't support them either. I don't think Ashland is "loved" outside its school boundary. It appears that all "bridges" were burned long ago.

I root for Ashland. Not that I'm anyone but I don't think anyone hates any team as a whole. Certain individuals can make it rough to root for any certain school but deep down I believe we have each other's back.

^ I know some Russell guys who CANNOT stand Ashland.
IMO, most die hard fans of Russell are not fans of the Tomcats.

I'm a diehard Ashland fan but when we aren't playing the school and or when the playoffs start I'm pulling for all the area schools to do well!!

I state facts. Some people can't deal with them. Just like the fact that Highlands has out scored your program 161-25 the last three times they played. That's almost as bad as highlands beat Pendleton county in the past few seasons.

I think most Ashland partisans understand the limits of their program. Several of their posts state that Ashland should make it to the second round of the playoffs. And that is true. At that stage, they would, most likely, be playing either FTH or CovCath and they realize that the season ends then with a one-sided loss. That is reality.
Nonetheless, they can run up a winning season beating lesser schools like Sheldon Clark, Raceland, Russell, Boyd County, Greenup County, Rowan County and maybe one more in a home field upset. That is satisfactory to many since that has been their annual result for a goodly number of years.
08-09-2014, 01:36 PM
FTH has some cupcakes on their schedule too. Vaughn is back. Yes they have beat us pretty bad the last couple of seasons but means nothing this year and you know what they say about paybacks!

Everyone feels the euphoria of the coming season in early August. However, reality sets in in November. Even Pendleton County and Boyd County are tied for the top in early August. I never heard of "Vaughn" so I don't know if his return is really material or just much ado about nothing. I suspect the latter.

Normally I would tend to agree with you until I read another post from Pulp Fiction.

So Vaughn quit. Missed all the practices and camp and then is allowed to come back?

He has an ankle issue won't be able to play until week 8.

That's embarrassing and a slap in the face of every tomcat that has ever walked into Putnam. Everything Tony Love claims he stands for was pissed all over by that kid and he is allowed to just waltz back into the fray? Wow...what a ridiculous decision by someone who is supposed to be a disciplinarian. If I were Baker or Long I'd never practice by the standard that is being set by allowing this. What a joke.

Hate that for the kid. How are we health wise going into the Mason scrimmage?
