Mayfield Cardinals 2014
Lovenwar, just wait and see. He is very fast. I think it was just the way he was being used.
I love those pics sportsfan. I too like our chances.
I know he is fast but he isn't Deion fast.
He's as fast as Deion if not faster a but is he as elusive as Deion, can he make people miss, does he have that extra cut to make people miss. That's wat made Deion look fast. Field vision makes up for a lot of speed when a kid is used as an athlete.
I was just talking to some of the ball players that have played with both. They seem to think Deon is about one step faster through the 40. So we loose a step there and gain in all the other spots. I will take that. What's your point. We are faster overall and you will see how well it comes together. I see this as another great year, even if we slip a couple of games. We should lose once in a while to the bigger teams.
I agree they are going to be good. 15-0 maybe not but Bowling Green bound!!!!
Ok, I was thinking you were not feeling me. I'm sure we will take 1-3 losses against some out of class teams but, I still think they will grow and become experienced enough by the time that playoffs hit that we won't miss a beat. The great thing about our schedule is we get battle tested every week for about the first four weeks.
McCracken and Caldwell should be the only real tough games. The rest they should be able to handle.
I think we will have something for Caldwell this year. They made some serious mistakes already this year. They started the trash talk to a whole new level at 7 on 7. There are a lot of pissed off Cardinals running around.

All the pissed off Cardianls have to do is show them their RING finger and nothing the Tigers say matters. End of story. We got what we were after. Not regular season wins, district titles or regional titles.
:1: State Champions.
Yeah, it just makes it hard for me to pull for them this year. Everyone on here knows how I talked the Tigers and Sindelar up last year. I want them to do well and win a ring themselves. I just want them to do it with class. There is no place for that kind of trash talk out there.
I had a caldwell county fan tell me tonight that Mayfield will go 3-9 this year with wins over both fultons, and marshall county. Also losing in the first round of the playoffs to ky country day. I sure hope he is wrong:biglmao:
I would put a paycheck on that one if I was you.

I would hate to take advantage of him especially after looking it up and seeing mayfield hasnt failed to win at least 4 games since 1962. He already has a steak dinner bet with someone from lyon county on the caldwell/mayfield game.
I think that game will be a toss up. Our inexperienced qb and line against their inexperienced line. The thing that rings a bell with me is that CC had Sindelar and a good group of talent in 12 when they came a calling. The prob was without the line they had last yr he could get a pass off for the pressure.
Its to quiet on here for my taste. Im getting worried we must not be doing to well since 55 is silent.
I'm still here. It just seems that no one is replying to any posts. I think I feel about the same way this year as I did last year at this time. Friday will get things started off again. Once everyone sees the results of the Fort Campbell game, there will be more talk. I just gotta get through the meet the Cardinal week. I am ready for real football week.
Im ready to, i havnt heard much about fort campbell other than luke transferring away,so i have no clue what to expect.
Maybe Ft. Campbell can give us a good enough game that we will be ready for McCracken the next week but I'm feeling a blow out. 48-13
It won't be that bad. They probably should beat us but not that bad.
That's funny 55, the score was with us winning against Ft. Campbell.
Ok, I misunderstood. I don't think we will them that bad. Last year we struggled early with this team. I know they lost Luke to Clarksville but should return most of that bunch.
Mayfield will be competitive against everyone on there schedule, but, in reality, they should lose to McCracken for sure.. Graves, Caldwell, Tilghman will be tossups, while Ft Campbell, Murray & Russellville will likely be underdogs vs Mayfield, but, are all capable of beating us.. That's 7 games they could lose, worse case scenario, but, I think they'll find a way to beat the 3 latter teams and go 2-1 or 1-2 vs the middle 3, ending at either 8-2 or 7-3.

That's not a bad record and they'll still be a strong contender to be in BGreen, but, in comparison to the prior 4-5 Mayfield teams, this one will be a step or 2 behind those teams. They'll still be a tough out come playoffs, but, by no means, the heavy favorite they've been the last few years..
But a favorite none the less. My guess is 13-2 on the year with another gold ball in the case.
I was just curious if any of you Mayfield fans remember playing Lawrence County in the 2a state semies in either 90 or 91. Lawrence had a pretty good team that year and had a dang good game with Mayfield but we came up on the short end of the stick. Lawrence County went on a decade long run after that year with some very good teams. I got to see this game and I didn't know who Mayfield was at that point, but I was very impressed.
I think the score was like 21-14 or something like that.
I vaguely remember them playing. Wasn't the game at Mayfield? It was a playoff game, but, it wasn't in the title game, maybe semifinals, but, thinking about that now, how in the world did these 2 teams ever matchup in the playoffs unless it was in the title game. What a haul of a trip for a game. Isn't that about a 7 hr drive?
I can't remember that one. I left here in Dec of 86 to Lackland AFB and didn't get back until 1995. The first year I came back, we won state over Beechwood in a great game.

I recall that game

What the KHSAA did to Lawrence was criminal

I also think that ended the idea of a blind draw for semi finals
I can't wait less than 5 days before we get started.
