I don't want to poo-poo on KC's win but Rock threw this game away with turnovers, horrendously timed big penalties, awful clock management, etc...
Knox Central wins this game 7/10 times it is played but do not let the score fool anyone. Rock fumbled the kickoff and handed KC 6 points. Rock gets deep in the red zone and terribly mismanages the clock and leaves a potential touchdown on the field. One touchdown drive for Knox included a pass interference and a personal foul penalty against Rock (both deserved).
Congratulations on the win however do not sleep on Rock if a rematch should occur in the playoffs. Knox's offense is far better than Rock's and that was the deciding factor.

Don't forget rock recovered the onside kick to start the 2nd half and the panthers defense held strong!

I don't think youll have to worry about that.
Even if you did, if im not mistaken, that would make it a three way tie for first, and I believe Knox would hold the tiebreaker.

Hats off to Knox they came out and got the job done, you guys deserved it. You got all my respect. As for Rock, not real sure what's going through coaches head. poor clock management for most of the game, and poor play selection. Don't know why rock didn't spike the ball before the half instead of running the ball up the middle against a good knox Defense with a speed back instead of a power back. No reason why #45 for rock shouldn't get the ball on short yardage situations, he had 0 touches. Rock had every chance to pull this one out but seem to shoot there selves in the foot every time they gained momentum. It just stumps me, any time Parkey is down he does what ever he can to get the game over with and gives his team no shot at making a come back. Onward and forward Rock. Go take care of clay and get a home playoff game. it would be awesome to see these two stun the other district and have a region champion ship.

I believe you are right. But I had much rather have that title without any ties.

Congrats to KC on the win. I agree with a couple of you all about the clock mismanagement at the end of the first half. The second play of the last three plays before halftime should have at least been a play action pass which would have stopped the clock for them to regroup. Some turnovers and penalties at bad times surely didn't help the cause either. Knox capitalized on those errors and looked llike they were going to take over early in the first quarter until Rockcastle tightened up some and showed a little backbone. They could have rolled over like a dog waiting for it's belly to be rubbed, but, they stuck it out even when the chips were down. That runback for a TD by KC on kickoff after scoring themselves would have melted last years team. Overall, I'm glad Rockcastle showed they could compete (especially with so many hurt) and I'll be rooting for Rockcastle AND Knox in the playoffs.

Agreed on the clock management & play selection of ROCK. KC came prepared for this contest. I was listening to the game of Rockcastle's local radio station on the net being 450 plus miles north and visualizing I was there seeking the formation. They kept running the Wildcat Package majority of the offensive plays. One of KC's main players that made a score on the special team unit Bardger I think that's his name had a cramp or something going on. Hope he gets better remainder of the season through the playoffs. Telling you this Rocket team has showed signs coming back to that rush attack offense, that freshman runningback has been impressive closing nearly 1,000 yards on the year.

How many fire trucks did it take to get the field that wet?we had a soccer tournament on Kc 's Field Thursday night and it was good shape.

I'm not even going to say that there haven't been mystery rains at Rockcastle before when a super running back is coming to town. I will say that I don't think there was a mystery rain before this game and actually not for years. It really wouldn't have benefitted anybody and that field is in really poor shape where it has no good drainage system. I was actually suprised to see it in as good shape as it was this late in the season and commented on it before the game. KC's field is a great field to play on and I'm always impressed with how it rebounds, even after a hell of a pourdown. When these two teams played an overtime game in 2009 at KC, that field was ripped to shreds after that days rains and when we returned to see it in the spring following before the turf should have healed up during a track meet, I couldn't believe how good it looked. In 2011 when Rockcastle had a playoff game against Boyle County, they just painted the mud because the turf was dead from cold and overuse and there had been several muddy games that fall.
No, it rained all week up here, plus the poor drainage and the clay base under the field that bowls water may have caused it to seem bad to you. You all just have an excellent turf field and your used to it. Rockcastle's field needs a makeover desperately. Maybe one of these days someone who likes kids and sports will hit the Powerball in the county and throw a large wad of money at the school district for sports and extracurricular activities. That's the ONLY way they are going to be able to fund their sports program properly because the comparison of facilities (football, baseball, softball and basketball) to school districts around the area isn't even in the ballpark.....so to speak.

Does rock use the field for practice too? It's a same they build that big new school and don't build a new field to go with it.
I don't think rock watered the field this week. Mother Nature took care of that for them..lol

Yeah I know I was just joking ... Just amazed how bad it was when I walked on it I can't believe as good as program they got they need a good field. I want to say to earlier statement if rock scores at the end of the half it could have been dangerous the second half rock has a real nice football team.
10-18-2014, 06:45 PM
Knox had 2 extra opportunities to score and couldn't capitalize. This game could have easily been 40-6. Maybe worse. Rock has a really good football team. The scary thing is that they only have 5/6 seniors. Next year, KC and Rock will be a game to watch. Rock is a year away from the district title. Good luck to rock. Hope to see you in the region championship!
