All snow in the DC area. It looks like we got 6 to 8 inches in my neighborhood. All federal offices are closed today. So are all the schools. The temperature is still in the teens but the main roads have been cleared.
02-17-2015, 04:02 PM
Well we got about 14". None of the secondary roads have been touched, so you have frozen ruts about a foot deep to negotiate to the main roads. The main roads have been plowed, so the surface is level but it's caked ice and snow. If you're careful and drive defensively, you will be fine.

With all the cold weather that is coming the next several days roads around here are going to be an adventure to drive if they aren't plowed by today.

Got caught offguard yesterday morning with 4" ( weathermen called for 1-2" ) in NKY after getting a mere 3-4" the last storm. Dumped within a few hours during the morning rush hour and made for some sketchy travel.
The snow accompanied with the xtreme cold over the next couple days will be brutal. Bring those pets inside folks. Sub zero lows are not to be messed with!
Stay warm and have a safe rest of the week!!!

The type of weather we are having tonight is dangerous, and really bad for animals. Please do what you can to make sure your animals are warm and safe.
Don't forget to check in on seniors as well.

When I came to work it was -14. Evidently tonight is supposed to start an apocalyptic set of weather events that could end in most of south eastern Kentucky floating away, down the Cumberland River!!

Yep you got that right. With the mess coming our way tonight things could really get a lot worse than they are already. Snow you can make your way through it if you take your time driving. Ice on the other hand is a different beast altogether. Almost impossible to drive on. Everyone needs to take measures to stock up on food an other stuff today cause if its not a emergency no one needs to be out driving in the ice that forecast for us.

Got 4-6" of heavy wet snow in NKY. Problem we are all going to have is when the bottom falls out again tomorrow night and we go back into single digits.
All of this will freeze up and it's going to make for a friggin' mess. Supposed to stay cold for the next 4-5 days with lows in the single digits near zero! Anytime you're ready to break through spring we're happy to have you!!!

With all the snow we had and now all this rain has made for a mess in Seky. We go from roads you can't drive on cause of the snow and ice to roads you can't drive on cause their flooded. Now its going to turn cold again Sunday night and this stuff is going to be froze. Should be a fun drive home from work monday morning.

They forcasted an inch of snow for today. All the schools canceled last night in a panic. So far, nothing but cold weather. A wasted day.

Starting this afternoon, we are supposed to get an additional 6" of snow.
I can hardly wait.

After a brief warm up today (upper 40's), we get another round of snow and ice on top of our 1/4 inch of ice from yesterday. Depending where you live in the area anywhere between 1-4 inches, some areas got over 4 inches yesterday. As crazy as it sounds, this area does not have the equipment to handle that much snow. I don't think that I will be working the rest of the week because the area I work is one of the hardest hit areas yesterday and is one of the areas that is predicted to get up to 4 more inches.

I don't have a problem believing that at all. You guys just don't deal with measureable ice or snow very much. It cripples Atlanta when it happens.

Ready to kick ol man winter in the hind end. Record snowfalls statewide, record lows for tonight. There is a glimmer of hope.
50-60s going into end of next week. Hang in there folks!
