Bath County has came open. Who will be some of the candidates for the position?

Tough gig there.

Being in the same district as Bourbon, Estill, and Garrard the past 4 years has been tough. Incoming seniors and juniors have played a lot of minutes the past 2 seasons as sophomores and then sophomores and juniors. Was hard to compete with younger players playing senior heavy teams like Estill and Lewis last season and very athletic teams like Bourbon and Garrard have fielded. Bath Co was a senior heavy team 3 years ago and went 8-3 and finished as district runner up to Bourbon.
The new district alignment and schedule are overall very favorable to BC. There is ample talent and numbers in both the returning upperclassmen (15 seniors and 15 juniors +/-), a solid sophomore class that went undefeated in JV last year, and incoming freshmen class (20+ players) that went 18-5 in 2 seasons and won a middle school conference title. The new coach will be walking into a really good situation over the next 4 years+.

Could be a really good job for a young coach who is looking for first head coaching gig.

Good to hear for Bath County. What happened to Fields? Was he forced out or what? I know they havr had a rough go of things outside of the 08 and 12 seasons.

They also play up a class which is bizarre.

In most cases, but that decision was a good call on their end. Their district is much more favorable, for a couple reasons:
1) The 2 seed is going to be up for grabs most years and who knows, maybe Russell has a "down" year and they can sneak into win it.
2) Not only do they have a favorable district, but it's also one of the few 6 team districts we have across all classes. A six team district loaded with rock stars? Not good. Six team district roughly of people just like you? Good.
In the last April draft, they were going to be 2A and in the NKY district of NewCath, Newport and Lloyd. Not exactly the best match ups, IMO.
I can't think of many others who opted to play up outside of Nelson County who is 4A and allowed to play up. Oh, and Ohio County was allowed to move up to 6A.

I hear A long time Rowan Asst. Coach is applying today. Coach Banks. He was my coach at Rowan, and is one of the best coaches around. The kids love him and played hard for him. He is a Motivator, and has the experience to build the program into a winner. He was D Corr. for Coach Mcdowell at Rowan 15 years ago when my uncle played and Rowan was tough. I know he is from Pburg, and coached at several mountain schools. Shocking he would leave Rowan after so many years, guess he needs a change.

Anyone familiar with the kids in the system over the next few years from Seniors to Freshmen will find the opportunity appetizing. Being nearby at Rowan I am sure he probabaly is.

Bath's middle school team had a monstrous tight end this season.

Fairview
Rowan Co
Morgan Co
Bracken Co
Pendleton Co
West Carter
Lewis Co
Fleming Co
Russell
Nicholas Co
If previous history of games played against these same teams/ same players in middle school and JV over the past 5 seasons then this could be a 7-8 win schedule with a POSSIBLE home playoff game.

Bath and Bracken had some shootouts in JV this past season. Hopefully that's a sign of things to come.

Any news with this position?

Did they hire someone at Bath County? I'm sure its getting close to spring ball...hate for their players to lose out.

Hey you can always get a great candidate when you just make one up!

Bath County's JV looked very good last year. If they hire Coach Banks from Rowan, Look out. He is a dynamic Coach, kinda off the radar since he has never been a HC, But one of the best I have ever seen, gets everything from his players, and has a IQ off the charts. Would be a awesome hire for Bath.

Awful quiet with this job search...I thought I would have heard some actual names surfaced by now (Not make believe names).

It's a shame this position hasn't been filled. They should have a good group of kids coming up in the next few years. Should be a good position to be in.
