15th Region KAPOS Predictions
#31
what level is Prestonsburg competing in? I heard they have a new girl that just started with them this week.
#32
who all is competing in medium varsity if Pikeville isnt? That just leaves South Floyd
#33
Yeah, well previously Prestonsburg was in small 2 1/2 but for various reasons decided to add a girl only for kapos. She cheered for them last year, and has plans to try out next year. Therefore, that puts them in medium.

I heard they picked the new girls up just for KAPOS. The coach didn't want to compete against Pikeville (after they dropped down a level) so she picked up a girl inorder to move up a level. The coach said she would rather compete against SFHS than Pikeville. Seems a little unfair after the other girls have worked their butts off learning routines and having all the practice time. Now it's kind of like starting over to fit the new kid in. Oh well, good luck girls.
#35
Yes WOW, I totally agree. The other girls tried out, cheered all season long at all the ballgames, went to all the practices, and now it's like the coach just picks up another girl b/c she doesn't think the other girls can do it. It's really shady and totaly ridiculous.

The other girl was a cheerleader last year but decided not to cheer this year. She has always been on the eligibility sheet as an alternate, so that is why she is allowed to compete with the squad.
#36
i think if our coach thought we wasnt good enough to compete by ourselves and had to add someone to get out of it.. i would quit after i worked my butt off all year.. but as for the coach.. i think she made a mistake.. competeing agaist SF will be no easier then competing against pikeville..

Won't that be hard, fitting her in?...or has she practiced with the squad all year?
#38
I thought each cheerleader had to have cheered a specific number of games in this season to be eligible for KAPOS competitions.
#39
Yeah, I agree with everyone on here!!
All the cheerleaders are confused about it - there's so much going on and so many rules I don't think the coach has thought about yet.

The only eligibility requirement I have seen states "the squad must cheer for KHSAA sanctioned sporting events". I have not seen a specific number of games for the squad or individual to have cheered for. It may be in there, but I haven't seen it myself.

I think I would consider picking up a new girl this late in the game as a slap in the face. What about the girls who tried out and were cut, were they given the opportunity to come out now?

That is all that it says. You can add to the squad or sit people out for competition.

I honestly would have loved to see the medium competition between Pikeville and South Floyd with all that I have read about the All "A" tournament. It sounds like it would have been great to watch. It's too bad that Pikeville dropped down.

This is not that uncommon. especially with KAPOS. people change divisions everyday. i dont mean that it isnt uncommon to change to get away from pikeville (even though we have done the same thing to get away from others), this happens in all the other regions too.
#43
what makes the coach think that its gonna be easier to compete agains sf than pikeville?
#44
Well for one, SF doesn't have all standing backs, or 3 or 4 fulls being thrown all over the mat.
#45
4 fulls and 1 bounder full (two fulls one right after the other)
#46
Now I look for JC to move up to medium. It would only make sense, since they have already gotten beat by Pikeville once this year.
#47
JC is going medium. only because we had two girls that were our alternates and we promised them at the beginning of the year that they could compete at KAPOS. Pikeville didnt have their best showing at the semifinals of nationals. so they arent running scared they are just trying to be fair!!!!!
#48
yea but tumbling doesnt make everything. Besides tumbling Sf is awsome so say what you want but sf will be pretty hard to beat in opinion.

Well i think that Belfry Varstiy will win large. They always pull thru and from what i have seen they are really good. I have faith in them.

I know for a fact that Pikeville is going small! They have been planning on going small 4 a while.. The only reason they thought they might go medium is because they did last year... due to having more members on the squad.. now they dont so they are going small!

About the fact that they have 14 members.. two members do not compete although they are still active members of the squad. Pikeville has a lot of good cheerleaders so they have to pick their best twelve to compete..

So to clear everything up Pikevillle is going small!:Cheerlead
#51
So, what is the updated list of teams competiting in each category?
#52
i dont think pville will have any trouble takin the title as long as sf aint in the same catagoery as them.....if pville & sf are in the same category then sf will take it all baby...ive talked to sf & jus because pburg n johnson central are in there with them to dont mean nuttin they still plan to take it home...so to those other squads in there with sf step your game up cause thier ready!

My question is this....if they have been planning on going small for awhile..WHY did they sign up for medium in the first place? They had the same number of members when the declarations were made that they have now. Why drop down with only 2 squads competing in Medium and 3 competing in small?

I don`t know were your getting your info, but your wrong!!!!The alternates have changed several times through out the season! Sturgill can`t keep her girls quiting. At least 15 or so of the girls quit the comp squad this season!!! She`s just scared to go against PIKEVILE, she wouldn`t have a chance!!!! lol JC always has something up there sleeve. If there any way to get by with something they will.:Angry07:

I agree with BelfryBabe .. I think that Belfry Varisty is very good this year as an all girls squad. Even though they have been co-ed for so long, they look awesome for the first year competiting in 2 1/2 large. :Cheerlead Go Pirates !!

*here's how its gonna go...
LARGE-BELFRY VARSITY
CO-ED-BELFRY

I dont know why PC thinks there so good for..they didnt even wanna cheer against Belfry when they played them..AND..a PC Basketball Player told people at Belfry they we're scared...Im going to leave it as that ...

If you ask me I dont think that Pike Central has a chance at Large! They are nothing compared to other squads there going against! I mean look at Belfry...I think they've got it in the bag if they just pull through like they always do! And from what Ive saw there really good and I think that all you sqauds in Large need to watch out, because you dont know what your going against!

Belfry is good this year. People say that the only reason our girls go to state is because they have always been co-ed but this year they have 1 guy. I guess our girls will just have to show everyone what they are made of.
