A very modest man you are. Why don't you stop being an embarrassment to your fellow Maroon fans. Why the need to kick a man when he is down. Did you catch your Pulaski County cheerleader girlfriend being james ganged by the Somerset football team or something.

You know what they say, people with new money don't know how to act. Eventually his 6th grade computers teacher will take away his Internet privileges and we won't have to deal with him anymore.

I understand must be a difficult pill to swallow to see us win a state title something somerset can't seem to do in over a century of football. enjoy seeing us do it again.

I doubt he got on a bus this morning but I'd bet he still lives with mom and has the hottest online girlfriend. I wonder how many times he was beat by Somerset when he was playing for Pulaski.

^ me and wildcat18 were wondering the same thing Concerning your wife last night . A very poor option but the only option times were hard

I imagine somerset beat him every year, then the consolation prize was when on prom night he caught the whole briar jumper line jamesganging his girlfriend.

Let's get back to football. This is a bit ridiculous. So one week of spring ball in the books, any updates from the briar patch?

Jumpers first week of spring ball looked good. Man they're fast! The o line has improved significantly, they all look a lot stronger. The freshman coming in are big and strong as well. The attitude of this group is what I keep hearing about from the players and coaches I have talked to, they just take coaching and try to do what they're asked to do. Carlos Cannela (sp?) has re joined the team after nt playing since his 8th grade year, he's an all state soccer player with outstanding footwork, of course the usual suspects Doan, Hatcher, CornettX2 all look good. The surprises I saw were Logan gadberry and red Smallwood (offensive/defensive lineman) all showing out. They may not win a game but they all appear to be working hard.

They will win some games and Carlos was a stud in Middle School. Good Luck.

I think you're right, they'll win some games. Matter of fact I think they could contend in the region, they just gotta continue to improve.

^ Highlands is back in 5A so I wouldn't be so confident. But Somerset will be fine. Hope to see them play a couple times this up coming year.

That's what I want to hear, hard work in the off season sets the pace for the entire season. If these kids can come together and play as a team were all in for a heck of a season. I remember Carlos in 8th grade kid had a lot of hear, solid pick up. #BJN

I do know that the future looks bright for Somerset football IF you can just keep all the kids in the sport. This year the 5th and 6th grade class was real nice. The players moving up to the middle school ranks will be excellent.
I bring this up to say that the program that was so young last year will just get better and from all accounts, they will have a nice team this year. As they keep adding the talent, the team will just continue to progress and make the team better for years to come.
I do believe that this team will be a 7-3 type regular season. May take a couple lumps early but they'll make a run.

Spring practice finished up yesterday. They had an inner squad scrimmage of about 30 plays with the full team (those who aren't playing other sports at the moment anyway) I was fortunate enough to watch it. They are much more physical, there was lots of encouraging signs. The o line looks much improved, the skill talent is outrageous and they are all very positive kids from what I could tell. Talking to one of their assistant coaches he said he hasn't seen this collection of depth at the skill position since he's been around the program which is very encouraging. They still have lots to work on but they all appear to be buying in to what they're being asked to do. Hatcher threw the ball VERY well, Doan looks to be moving well a year removed from his knee injury, and even at his small stature he was very tough to bring down. Josh and isaiah Cornett look to be the focal point at wide out but I saw a lot of good things from the other guys as well. Red Smallwood, ol/dl is a monster. Sean Haynes ol/dl looked good as well. Defensively Caanan Reynolds was really locked in at the linebacker position and making plays. Senior defensive lineman, former defensive back if all things, Austin Adams is going to surprise some people with how physical he is and how well he moves at the position, looks to be about 200 lbs and a great frame to continue to add weight.
Overall I was fairly impressed. If this team will continue to practice with the intensity I saw yesterday they could be very good. I don't want to predict records but they did look pretty dang good, and as a jumper fan I've seen some pretty good ball (last year notwithstanding).
Lots of questions will be answered for this group pretty early on, looking at some good pre district competition with NKY power Beechwood being the game I have circles as a "can this group really compete" type game for the jumpers. They have nowhere to go but up, and the best thing that I noted was there was zero ego out of the whole bunch... Just a bunch of kids having fun at a football practice.

The fact the attitude is in the right place means a lot! Are you speculating that the Doan was still hurt from his Freshman injury last season? I seen the Danville game he played in as a Freshman that he got hurt in and he was impressive to say the least! It was hard to root against the kid! If I'm not mistaking he took over the game after his injury? That game is the only reason I'm a fan of that kid and I wasn't there to root on Somerset! Lol.., I will be rooting for Somerset until they play Danville.

What were the final numbers like for Spring ball JP? Do you know if we were missing many for baseball or track?

I think that the knee surgery among many other factors for that particular young man had an impact on him last year in a negative way. He is a tough kid... And yes I remember the Danville game well. He absolutely came in and lit it up by himself, just wasn't enough to get over te hump that night.

Ro, I think they had around 30 for most of spring, missing at least 8 for other sports and the freshman class has 22 listed (all this according to the head man). We all know how the 22 incoming reality usually is though, they'll get 14-16 of them which is still good numbers.

I'm glad to hear that for them and I'm especially glad to hear that for the Doan kid! I'm a admiral at heart but went through the police academy with one of the kids dad. I'm die hard Danville but can't help to root for Somerset and the kid I know. Wish he would've not played for a rival team like Somerset but..,,.. it is what it is!!! Lol,
