I'm positive. Just sickening that the BOE says not enough money for turf then turn around and piss $75,000 away.

Athletic Director doesn't have responsibility for the field condition?

Look, when a football field is built at a school that has a band program at it they know it has multiple uses. That field was nasty muddy and NO GRASS at spots Saturday at daylight. Quit crying about the band and address the problems.

Band is a waste of time. Need to find a field other than the football field to ruin

They did, they ruined the baseball field. I think that is hilarious. They killed every bit of grass in the outfield and the BOE is not going to fix it. Nice statement for the new coach.

In most districts no, it is someone at central office job to maintain facilities, all that stuff normally is contracted out in a bid process. Unless they are one of a few school districts that still has in house maintenance staff.

zebra'seyes Wrote:Trust me, I was there all day Saturday and the field was already destroyed before the band stepped foot on it. Funny, blame the Band.Well we don't trust you because you have no clue of what you are talking about, the field was in good shape after the football game and it rained Saturday while the bands performed and even if if didn't they should have never been on that field after a rainy football game. Yes the band deserves somewhere to perform, but 17 bands on a area of the field 30 to 30 yard lines and only on one side of the field destroyed it.

When you go to a PC home game you better bring a spotlight so you can see the game. The lighting conditions are horrible and whats up with the restrooms? I was trying to pop a zit one night and couldnt find a mirror so I was like

Like it or not, the band is part of the school community. They probably represent as many tax dollars for the education system as any other extra curricular program in the school. They have as much right to use the facilities as the next group. What's more, a Band Competition is probably one of the biggest fund raisers any High School Band has. Once planned it is not easily moved or cancelled. Like it or not, other schools seem to work this problem out just fine. I think the reason it is such an angry issue to some is because there was a possible promise of turf (which would eliminate these problems) and then that wasn't what the BOE did.

Start making the band take their shoes off
nicker: Sounds like a crappy BOE

Well there Mr jumper you have proved you're just an angry man. You have problems with truth cause it didn't rain a drop during the competition Saturday. In fact it got warm and sunny with a light wind. Had to break out my shades!

Really, when you look at it closely, football is a waste of time. I love the sport and played for many years, but when it's over, it's over. Playing an instrument is a skill that last a lifetime unlike being able to pull around the end and block the first guy you see. Band also has more opportunities to provide financial assistance for young people to further their education. I'm not downing football, just saying the Band has every right to be on that field and fund raise as the football team does.

Nah, I'll post here. Sorry you have your little feelings hurt. You're mad, you'll get glad.

Yeah the band is a waste. They should do their stuff in parking lot, who cares what they do other than the parents, no one goes to see them, they go to watch football.
as for football in later life, maybe not but ho wmany kids do you see later in life walking around with that trumbone or horn playing it.
at least football teaches toughness for later in life.

Of course the band has the right to use the facilities of the school, it's not their fault or the football teams fault that the school board is incompetent. To say football is a waste of time and band isn't is just ludicrous. Most band members are in the same boat as football players, when it's over it's over. In both areas kids learn skills that can be used throughout life other than just band and football. What this all boils down to is the fact that the school system let this get this far, politics or people lining their own pockets or whatever the reason. There are still many fields in KY that are grass, but you only see very few that look like this. ignorant or just plain greed is to blame for this, not football or band.
