Will Larkey stay at Perry Central?
#1
After a 2-8 season, will he stay or go somewhere else?
#2
This is a hard place to coach but he loves being on the sidelines.
#3
NO, going to work with son at North... He still will be on sideline.. JMO

I saw Perry play a few weeks ago, and they did not resemble a Larkey team in any way. Granted, it is his first year at Perry, but I just wonder if, at this stage in his career, he really has it in him to build another program from ground zero.

I respect Coach Larkey a great deal, and I just hope he makes a decision that will enable him to enjoy his last few years of coaching and go out on his own terms.

What an attitude of front-running quitters we have in this state.

He probably wont stay for long.

I think he will stay long enough to get that # 300 win & then go to North & coach with his son!

My thoughts as well.
#9
How many does he have ?
#10
At this point I think he stay. How long I dont know gor how long but the future of this program is down the road. So dont give up on this team or him yet. I predict this team to be in the playoffs next year.

Who all returns next year? He is to one dimensional to beat any well coached team. All you gotta do is stack the box. He better get those kids in the weightroom and put some muscle on them if he wants to keep playing smashmouth every play. Went to two of PCCs home games this year when my Dawgs were away. Must say this was the worst football atmosphere Id been around in a long time. Games were boring. The fans never said a word. Knott Central is a more energetic place.

He isn't going anywhere, don't worry Bulldogs. Not sure why a Hazard fan I assume would be so pressing and concerned about it at this point in the season.
If you cared to look at back at his history of teams he's coached, he's been less one dimensional than most opposing fan bases think. Each coach has their own style and scheme. When the jimmy and joes allow his teams have been almost even in yardage check out Rockcaslte 2000-2002, Harlan Co with brewer at Qb.
People would say same thing before he took over Harlan Co that he was leaving every year to help at North but he will stay at Perry and get them on right track imo. He inherited a 1 win team that lost several senior starters that went on to play college football halfway thru the offseason. Give him more than 10 months on be job first geez lol

I care about all of Perry County. Not just Hazard. Id like for Perry to be as successful as they can be. The days of lining up and running people over are history. I I do feel like he is one dimensional. Sorry for offending you.

Does not offend
It goes for all football in general, if you execute any style or scheme it will work but it takes some pretty decent personnel to execute anything and Perry just didn't have much of anything this year

You might ought to tell Belfry before they fool around and win another state championship. According to the stats I saw, they have passed it 27 times all year.
It's not the style, it's the players and the execution
#16
What about Cabell Midland vs Belfry game? Apparently it didnt work.

You got me there.
I figured state championships were enough.
You've got a plan that wins EVERY game?
#19
Yeah, I may learn to pass a little bit better.
#20
Perry needs to drop to 4A. There numbers are already there anyways.
JC isn't going to be good forever and there are few other 4A teams on this side of the state that is really good.

OK. I'll pass that on to coach Haywood.
Everyone will win state championships once they read that.
#22
You can only run over so many teams. He may be the greatest coach of all time but since the run run option works so well, why not go play Louisville Trinity every year? Bully of 3A football with two or three states to recruit out of. Wow. Must be nice. Wonder why Alabama and Florida just don't run it every time? I'd hate to be the QB. You may have a potential D1 QB and he never gets the opportunity to throw a pass. But hey, winning is winning I guess.
#23
Bulldogs4Ever has a huge infatuation with Perry Central and I have no idea why.

I agree with Gut, might as well drop to 4A, our enrollment is way, way, way down and the horses aren't in the stable at this point in time.

Larkey is definitely staying guys. Their plan is already set to hit the weights hard this winter. The problem PCC has is not very many of their highly skilled athletes play football. Tobler and Blair played last year but neither returned this year. If just some of the kids that play basketball or soccer played they would be much improved. They have as many soccer players as they do football. I'm a big Commodore fan but until they get some of these other kids on the field no coach can win.

Have you been to a Knott Central game? They(the fans) were a rowdy bunch this year, and attendance was great!
#26
I don't know what the infatuation is about Coach Larkey. Every single year that he was at Harlan County, the rumors would fly about where is was going the NEXT year. Well, I have no idea where he will be in 2016, and I doubt anybody else does either.

My personal opinion is that he will coach til he gets his 300th win, then join his son at North Laurel. The Larkeys are a family devoted bunch, and I think that would make him very happy!!
#27
Larkey will be at Perry.
#28
Larkey will coach until he gets 300 wins. But that can take awhile at Perry.

I say Larkey stays 1 more year at PCC and then off to a better job to end his career on a good note.
#29
When Perry got off the bus, I started to worry! There are some huge, and I mean HUGE, kids on that team. When I pointed this out to a PCC fan, he told me that many of them hadn't played before. They were young and inexperienced.

Larkey just might have a go at this bunch! They appeared to me to have a ton of potential.

Perry does have some big kids. Id like to see them maybe lighten up the schedule some next season maybe. You got three tough district games. Maybe get rid of Somerset, North Laurel, and Wayne County. I know good competition makes you better but those were three unwinnable games probably. Need to schedule Allen Central, Knott, and Leslie. Good close games and an even talent pool.
