Congrats to Greenup County

Good win by the Mouseketeers. I didn't think they would be able to withstand the pounding by Lawrence

Thought LC would be able to take this one! Congrats to GC!!

Congrats to Greenup. This one really surprised me and I thought Lawerence County would pull this one out. I have a question for the Lawrence County faithful. What happened this season? In the preseason there was a lot of hype and there was a lot of excitement surrounding this team. Why haven't they been able to live up to it? Lawrence looked like they had some good size and athletes but for some reason hasn't been able to put it together.

Next Friday will actually be the first time I've watched Lawrence county play in a long time! Was this Greenup county game at GC or Lawrence?

Lack of any kind of real defense and poor discipline and fundamentals plain and simple and anyone who thinks otherwise is in denial. But you will have all the usual people making their usual excuses and talking up how great Greenup Co is. This team with the depth, size and athletes it has should be playing much better football then this especially on the defensive side.

I'm afraid this game will get really really ugly really really fast unfortunately.

I wasn't expecting that as even a thought when this game was scheduled. Heard allot last season that the bulldogs were Hard hitting, and extremely talented/athletic just young! Hopefully their able to get some things lined out soon and get those boys ball'n!

Lc corners played so far back, gc completed screen after screen. D line got demolished all night. Poor tackling and the play calling on offense is so predictable. Tonight I left sick to my stomach.

Congrats to Greenup.

It is really, reallllllllly simple. We have zero secondary. None. Greenup did the exact same thing Raceland did to us and just dink and dunk with quick screens and slants all night long and kept our offense on the sideline. You can't generate any sort of pass rush when the qb just takes the snap and throws it. Secondary makes no attempt to make a play on the ball and pretty much waits for the wr to catch it and then try to tackle. The safety pretty much just runs in with his head down and diving at shoes and misses the biggest majority of the time. It frustrates me as to why they have the corners so far off the ball when the opponents are just dinking us to death the whole game instead of getting up in their face and jamming. That would at least buy our d-line a few more seconds to at least get near the qb. Offensively we fumbled the ball 3 or 4 times due to the muddy conditions and we just couldn't get on the field much. Greenup did a great job of doing to us what we have been doing to others and just chewed the clock with long drives. Teams do not even have to try and run on us, all they have to do is complete wide open 1-5 yard passes all night and LC be content on watching it happen.

I figured Greenup would win, but I am surprised by the margin of victory.

Greenup had 2 bad games. Looks like they found the mojo again.

When the Muskies put it together they can really go obviously because the dawgs are never slouches. Good win for boys from Lloyd!

How old are you? Hopefully you are 5 years old or just can't spell. This is a forum to discuss football, let's try not to be childish. There a l lot of nasty things I could say but I'm an adult.

Prayers for the young man from LC injured last night.

Nice win , I thought this would be a tough matchup for greenup but they showed me otherwise

When Greenup is not beating themselves they are impressive to watch. Consistency is not there yet bc they are an inexperienced team but it will come with time. Congrats to Musketeers on the W.

Congratulations Greenup County!

The mousketeers and muskie stuff is a constant battle among them, the Evils of Russell and the Lambs and Ams of Raceland. Lighten up a bit. I was also suprised that Greenup could handle the run game of LC.

It's funny that you mentioning how the defensive backs play to far off. If you go to Hudl.com and watch the highlights of our games this season you hear on the camera during every play people in the pressbox screaming for them to move even further back lol. :Shaking:

We weren't expecting it either. Everything said this team should be much improved this year. We returned pretty much everyone, a year bigger, stronger, faster and smarter yet this team seams as if it has gone a few steps backwards. There are no excuses to be made.

That's why I think, given time, Scott can make them a consistent 6 or 7 win team or better. Seems like or takes about 3 years for a coach to find their footing, imo Scott got a year advantage because of the tallent and experience he had with last year's squad. I think you are already seeing steps being made. Simply by the points they are putting up against teams they SHOULD beat. Next the gap will be closed between the teams they could or can beat. Grizzle is the guy for the job. Heard his post game speech to his kids after the Raceland loss. That, imo, is where u find a coaches real passion and ability to lead young men. Proud of my buddy.

After listening to who they had coming back I was excited to see what they could do this year, and they could still turn it around. However, last week was a eye opener for me. When you let an 0-4 below average Powell County team put up 34 points against your defense, you are in trouble. At some point your loyalty to the defensive backs has to start to waiver, especially as a head coach when your job is to help 60 other guys win. I understand wanting someone to finally get it, and you are convincing yourself as a coach to keep him in every time you see a glimmer of hope. But come on, 34 points to Powell? It may be time to just keep your best players playing both ways and special teams. You have an obligation to your team, and if that's your best option then so be it. He may already be doing that and there may not be another option in the secondary. If not, create one. Make your QB start covering people or your receivers or running backs or maybe your linebackers. Who cares as long as the job gets done. Sometimes as a coach you have to reinvent yourself to stay relevant and this may be one of those times when you need to ask for help. 34 points to Powell? Seriously?

Seriously? You have pretty much nailed this spot on. Our defense does an adequate job stopping the run but the pass defense has absolutely killed us.Short or deep it doesn't matter. I cannot understand why players like Jackson Johnson and Danny Hall are not playing in the secondary, especially at safety where we need the most help. Dotson and Rose have done a good job in the secondary but the others back there have been roasted repeatedly. I understand the coaches should know their players better than the fans but for the life of me I can't see how you keep starting players that miss numerous tackles and get burned for touchdowns in every game we have played this year. Thus far if the Dawgs run game doesn't put up at least 45 points against 9-10 man fronts every week, we lose.
