Good hard fought game but the Rams came up short in the end. West had a good team and I would say they could probably compete with most Class A schools in KY. Raceland had an opportunity to win but couldn't clamp down at the end. Raceland has to learn how to win in these types of situations. Over the years it always like seems like Raceland cannot find a way to win when it is crunch time and IMO that has been the biggest limiting factor with our program. I hate losing but hopefully there is a silver lining here and Raceland can learn from it later in the season.

Congrats West and a tough loss for the Rams!! I'm sure they'll be just fine!

Hardest hitting team we have played in many years. Both teams played hard. We just couldn't seem to keep our defense off the field. They had a nice combo in running backs and QB

Very sloppy game , way to many penalties, turnovers , Raceland has to take care of the ball , at the end Damon looked confused and not prepared . Lastly i don't ever remember a Raceland team have the ball on its own 35-40 with 2 minutes before half and just let the clock run out not saying it was a bad decision it just looks like to me they don't have a lot of trust or confidence in the offense .

How was wests passing game?
09-23-2017, 04:51 AM
When we do throw down field we have to catch the ball. Other than the pick 6 I thought Damon was pretty good tonight. We didn't catch the ball very well. We also had backs and quarter back in the backfield many times and couldn't bring them down. We had dropped passes and turnovers at really bad times too.

They didn't need it. We had no answer for their run game. They ran the same play 100 times and we couldn't stop it. We couldn't make a backside tackle to save our lives. Credit to their RB. That was the st physical team we have seen, maybe in the last 5 years. Brutal. The fact that the defense only gave up 27 points, is amazing to me bc they were on the field all damn night. Offensively it was over before it started with the pick 6. Damon was rattled from that moment on. The kids fought back in a game that I expected us to lose, coming out of half time, bc we were lost as an offense. Now, in the second half we managed to bust a few long plays and that throw and catch from Damon to Judd in the back of the endzone was beautiful. But there were 2 td passes dropped, Damon through a great ball both times, but they couldnt hold on to it. Fumbled inside the redzone twice and The defense was on the field too long tonight. Not their fault, they made PW earn their keep and didn't give up a big play, but the offense couldn't stay on the field. And yet again, we are looking at a game come down to the wire, that we have lost by a TD or less. That's 4 games 3 years decided in the final 2 minutes that we couldn't win. Something has to give. We run the same plays over and over and if a team is physical w us, we r going to struggle. Just really disappointed in this loss. The kids battled but I feel like there is a hurdle, that as a system, we can't over come. Should have would have could have won this game. But Port West made more plays than we did when it counted most. Onward and upward. No room or time to sulk. The bunnies are coming to town next week.

Somerset is another physical team coming in. They got some dang good run defense. I'm interested in seeing if that 4 hour bus ride puts some damper on it. I'm eager to see How Raceland responds.

Right now I have faith in the kids. I support the staff and want them to succeed, but I do not understand the play calling half the time. I understand completely and believe whole heartedly that they r doing what they think is best, but when the same thing doesn't work over and over again something has to give. Hats of to Hunter lacks though, according to the radio guys he ran for 157 on 18 carries and he really softens the defense with his ability to stretch the edge. We just have no real threat to go downfield. We have a qb woth the arm and the receivers w the speed, just can't get them in synch. This game really has me scratching head. Hoping that Portsmouth really is just that good.

Congrats to the West Siders. I know that community takes a lot of pride in their football. It seems as though West has surpassed big brother Portsmouth in recent years. Physical running play to be expected from a Southern Ohio team. For the Rams not a bad loss. Kudos to the Rams for not scheduling cupcakes these opponents and this type of game in particular can only make you better as the season progresses. Rams will have to get stouter against the run to make a deep playoff run.

Scotty I watched film and I was impressed with them in the run game. The passing game to me was just luck with the quarterback scrambling and hitting open receivers. There I-form is what wins that team games and they have 3-4 good playmakers. 23 may be their best player if I rennet correctly. 30 is solid as well.

Again, the defense missed some tackles and gave up some yards on the ground, but they yet again did enough for us to win the ball game. Offensively, we fumbled once in the redzone and on our own 20. That's one less TD for the Rams and 1 more TD for the senators. Which becomes the difference in the game, as we were unable to capitalize on their fumble. I do agree though, that this game and next week's game will better prepare the Rams for district play and tougher games in the playoffs. But, we are shortly running out of time to get the offense clicking. Consistently. If we take care of the ball tonight, we would have likely gotten out with a win. Just can't shoot ourselves in the foot against a quality team. Still love my Rams. Just hope we can get things sorted out on the offensive side of the ball.

That team was very Belfry/Johnson Central-esk. Not saying they were as good as either of them, but they really ran behind their pads and got downhill in a hurry. If they had a little more patience, they could have broke a few long TDs, but at times they out ran their blocks and ran up their OTS backs. I said at half time tonight that we were lucky of that. Bc we should have been down by 2 scores at the half. 23 is what you want out of a RB at any level, his feet never stopped moving. I will eat my crow, that PW team was far better than I think anyone in Ram Land anticipated.

Offense sounds like it aint doing terrible down in Ramland, just gotta get rid of them turnovers. It sounds like to me the Rams have moved the ball well enough on everyone they play. Gotta be efficient and disciplined on offense and front seven has to be stouter on defense. If you can stop the run in high school you got a shot to win every ball game.

I was close.
I picked West, 28-27.
The West @ Wheelersburg game on 10/27 should be a dandy as they remain 1 & 2 in Region 19 in Ohio.

We did have a answer for their run game but didn't use it very much , when they added noah to the nose and took out a DB the run stopped but only used that a couple of times in the first half and a few more in the second . That added a big body that don't get pushed around up front which clogs up the middle , use that and when it's 2nd or 3rd and long go back to the DB just something to look at

We out rushed them by a 100 yards. And Wheelersburg will destroy West.

We should diffidently use him more. That big body clogs up the whole middle. I've said this from day one. I think justin is being wasted at nose. Would like to see him out at tackle and move Tyus out to the end position. Makes too much sense.

Congrats on outrushing West by 100 yards...too bad you came up 6 points short on the scoreboard.
Wheelersburg is very good. The Pirates should win by 2+ TDs.

The cheaters from McCreary Central are nothing compared to the rule breakers at Raceland who have called Greenup County players' homes to entice them to play for the Rams around 8 to 9 years ago.
The names Jett Troxler and Rashard Carter come to mind.
09-24-2017, 01:27 PM
That's all u got and can come up with? Moving on. Sorry I even engaged u with conversation. And Carter was a Tomcat and a Muskie, never a Ram. While we are at it, why not consider WHY kids would listen to someone, and eventually leave the county? All that has been put to rest, the lines have been drawn, let it go elsa.
