Paintsville vs Hazard 10/13
#1
Hopefully we're good now!

Thoughts and predictions for the 1A State Semi Final REMATCH at MEMORIAL FIELD!
Paintsville comes in 6-1 Hazard 5-1! Two of the Top Ranked 1A Programs in the State!
#2
I'll take Paintsville by 2-3 scores!
#3

I know Smith would love to play in this one! Was really hoping he was gonna be able to recover quick! How are the Hazard fans traveling this season? Will there be a good crowd headed to Paintsville Friday?
#5
Paintsville by 7. Hazard is not the same without Smith.

Big lick losing a player like that. We've been there! VERY Tuff!!

Neither of the Smith twins will be back. Torn ACL's.

That hurts them in basketball too, doesn't it?

One of the Biggest matchups in The STATE this week!! :flame:
#13
This will be one of the most interesting matchups in Class A so far this season. Tigers will pull this one out 28-14 with a TD late in the 4th.
#14
The question I got is does the winner of the regular season win IF they meet again?
#15
I think Paintsville has the edge over Hazard just because the Smith twins are out

That's never a guarantee! Too many times it seems to go the other way in playoffs! The regular season winner has to make sure to not overlook a team in playoffs just because you beat them in regular season!
#17
Hazard will go through Paintsville like a dose of salts. 28-14.

I dont look for either team to show much. This game doesnt really have the meaning that the one in the playoffs will have.
Look for a lot of basic football. Neither will want to show much. Imo

Since we're all looking ahead I wonder how bad Beechwood would beat either team?TongueirateSho

I'd say a couple touchdowns. But I did say IF.

Mine is a what-if also bac, just messin' with ya. We all know plenty of football left to play and no one is conceding anything to anybody.:Cheerlead

Very long way to go.

Well, by comparing scores (which is damn near impossible)...

Beechwood 7
Somerset 0

Somerset 20
Hazard 7

Somerset 16
Raceland 13

And Somerset only got beat by 2 tds by a VERY good Danville team. And I think Paintsville is probably a TD better than Raceland and Hazard and Beechwood probably 2 scores better than all 3. So I don't think there is a huge gap. KCD was respectable against LCA. So I don't think the gap between Beechwood is as widened a margin as I originally thought.

Granted, that BW/Bunnies game was played in a monsoon if I'm not mistaken. But I think the East has just a good of a shot to win a title this year as last year.

I don't. Beechwood is better than they were last year and nobody in the East is as good as Hazard was at the end of last year. JMO.

And KCD gave up 69 to LCA.

Edit: There is also the little matter of Beechwood beating Corbin. No other Class A team has played at anything close to that level.

I don't think beechwood is better than last year. I think the rest have leveled off some. Beechwood is beatable. You will need a full four quarters to do it.

LCA is a machine plain and simple. KCD has the offense to keep up but like you said they have to work on the defensive side.

I agree on the subject of Corbin. That was a statement win that no other team in class A will be able to match. That being said, i don't that the championship game will sport more than a 14 pt spread. Paintsville, hazard and Raceland are all very good teams this year but Beechwood (at this point is still a step up). Last years Hazard team is a prime example of how good teams can grow in skill and momentum late in the season and become a whole new monster as well though. Will certainly be interesting to see

Calpreps and I disagree. Just for fun:

neutral field
[2017] Beechwood (Fort Mitchell, KY) 27, [2016] Beechwood (Fort Mitchell, KY) 21

Three reasons for me. 1 Aiden Justice was a do everything type player.
2 Linebackers Trevor Soward and Riley Burns are gone. 3 Defensively both defensive end Dalton Everett and Lucas Benson are gone.

Those players will be hard to replace but they've did an excellent job so far a plus for Beechwood this year is they haven't traveled no where except Somerset. 7 home games and 9 games in the Northern Kentucky area.
