Lex Cath@ Belfry 11/09
#1
2nd round at the CAM.
#2
Hearing rumors belfry has some players out for this one.

Belfry 49
Lexington Catholic 35
#3
Don’t think Catholic can stop the Pirates rushing attack so Belfry will control the clock and keep LC’s offense off the field. Pirates win 42 to21

Very possible. Belfry has been stung by injury bug all season. Despite that, I still can’t see LexCath hanging with Belfry.

48-20. Belfry

Exact same thoughts and score prediction. Lex cath don’t have the studs up front to control the line of scrimmage in this one.

Belfrys LBs will play a vital role in this one as well. We know they are good stoping the run. How are they against the pass? Belfrys DBs have gotten better as the year has progressed. I don’t think they’re good enough to completely shut Lex Cath down. But they’ll hold them in check. Combine that with what you said about controlling the clock, and it’s all belfry. They’ll score in the 40s, but it’s 50/50 to me if they hold lex cath to low points- 7 to 14- or a little higher 20-30.

I think this game could be dangerous and want to pick The Knights, but I'll go with Belfry by a touchdown. I'm not sure if Belfry can stop the Lexington Catholic offense.
#8
Pirates by 12

I bet that was hard for you PJDoug picking the Pirates, just kidding but really am glad to see you back on here and hope to see more of your quotes.

Like I said before I can see this game going two ways Belfry winning in blowout or Lexington Catholic winning or keeping it very close in a shootout, either one wouldn’t surprise me.

Very interested to see how the LexCath @ Belfry game plays out. Both Belfry and Boyle Co get tested by a team that prepares them for their possible matchup for the Region Final.

LexCath throws the ball.....a lot. But playing them will prepare the Pirates for Boyle Co and their passing game. That being said, the Rebels are very balanced unlike the Knights. But still....

Lawrence Co runs the ball.....a lot. But playing them it will prepare the Rebels for the ground and pound of Belfry. Belfry has more weapons and is very well coached. But still....

Now will both teams pass their "test"?

I'll say:

Belfry - 48
LexCath - 28

64SUR I figure he is still drinking something to get that taste out of his mouth for picking Belfry but he is a good guy I was trying to pick at him

Will lex cath still go with that 3-3-5 defense? I remember their coach having a quote at the beginning of the year talking about how he thought it’d be more efficient I guess is the word he was trying to get at this year compared to last year.

Personally, I’m not a fan of this defense, especially in HS. But, I don’t think it would matchup well against belfrys O. If I were them I’d drop into a 6-2 and take my chances with their pass game. Granted, all I know is what I’ve seen on film, about 5 games with Lex cath. But regardless, I don’t see many teams in 3A being able to run that type against belfry.

Lex Cath has an absolute stud at quarterback in Beau Allen. After all, Stoops has offerred him a scholly. He has some sure handed receivers who have a knack for getting open. I think Lex Cath has the talent to make this game interesting and quite possibly win. They come into the game with a 8-3 record. All three of their losses have come against elite teams in their respected classes, DeSales, Highlands, and Boyle County. Although that sounds good for Lex Cath, the fact the none of the final scores in these three losses were close does not sound so good. The closest of these losses was on the road to DeSales by 14. Boyle County absolutely laid the wood to them, 14-40. Lex Cath's two best wins, IMO, were a 41 point win against Lexington Christian early in the season and their win in the regular season finally against Southwestern, 39-17. Belfry and Lex Cath do share one common opponent, Garrard County. Belfry won that matchup 42-0. Lex Cath won it 39-22. Having stated all the above, I think Belfry wins it by 20.

I think Lexington Catholic may hang close for a half, but Belfry will wear them down and pull away in the second half. Belfry by 20+

For the last two seasons LexCath has not been able to beat teams that are a) better than them or b) better coached than them.

This Friday falls under both categories.

I'm not a believer in anything LexCath until I see things change.

If they can't then they have no chance at stopping Boyle.

If they can then the game vs Boyle could be a good one.

Belfrys injuries could be a major factor.

Lexington Catholic didn’t play a 3-3-5 defense against Boyle, they had 8-9 men in the box most of the second half, and I don’t recall them using a 3-3-5 against Boyle at all maybe if Boyle had 4-5 wideouts lined up, then maybe they went to a nickel package.

I agree.

I go back to the 2015 championship game. Similar matchup with neither team as good as back then. We looked at each other in the press box after the first drive and knew it was over. LexCath has no match up front for the physical play. I think this one goes similarly, but a little closer. Give me Belfry 41-21.

You may be right, but I will say this for Catholic they have a lot more size up front than they normally do.

Wow
This is a tough 2nd round game
Not some cakewalk like Corbin has
#27
I don't think Catholic will lay down, but I don't think they will go home happy, either. Belfry by 14.

Belfry with relative ease....

I will go back to my prediction last week, Belfry is still Belfry good players and Hall of Fame coach. Even a unhealthy Belfry wins this game off of experience and coaching alone. Belfry 42-21
