Anderson I am not sold. Move down from 5A but new class is harder. I would move them down to 8 or 9. Struggled to make plays on O against good teams.
JC returns more than FS so I would put them both there with JC a edge. Both were better than any of the teams above in 2018 but loose a lot. JC will have a great player at QB and some hard nosed runners. FS loose stud lineman, Bass, FB and best WR.
Not familiar with LexCath or Central. LExCath will play O and Central will play D. Not sure I place LexCath Above the 3 teams below???
The next 3 IMO are the district mates of Corbin, Knox and Wayne. Very competitive district. KC returns more with 7-8 on offense and 5-6 on D. Corbin returns some nice players but lots of questions at QB and on the OL and DL. Plus Losing Greer is a big loss. Beat KC in 2018 28-14 but was tied with 6 min left when a Kickoff return broke it open. Then a fumble or INT return (not sure which) sealed it with under a minute left. Wayne lost to KC 31-20 but it wasnât that close. They return a good RB but lose a bunch on OL and defense along with Weaver who was a stud.
Franklin will return a few weapons but loose some guys upfront that will be hard to replace. Broyles will put up big numbers but being in a district with Central will make things tough. Plus they lost to KC so they have to be below Corbin and KC. They barely escaped Wayne Co. in round 2.
4A will be fun.
Pretty good assessment but I will tell you that Anderson Co barely lost to Highlands in the playoffs and are HUGE on the OL. They will also return one of my favorite players (not wearing black and Vegas gold) in Zach Labhart who is an absolute stud but missed most of last season due to injury. And the RB that transferred from Montgomery Co will be back (?). Do not underestimate the Bearcats, they will be hungry and former Danville HC Sam Harp is on their staff and he knows how to win/coach.
Boyle Co will be out for blood next season and has some 2022 and even a couple of 2023 kids that will compete for playing time.
LexCath loses quite a bit outside the QB position and will not finish in the top two in the district w/Boyle and Anderson.
Corbin is a year away to compete for the title imo but have great players all over the field....they just have some HUGE shoes to fill w/Estep and Gosselin gone.
Johnson Central loses a lot of their line and their RB but has a great player in Devin Johnson as well as at QB returning. They lack elite speed but do have size.m and are coached very well.
Anyway you stack it, 4A is going to be rough.

its about time they #make4agreatagain. i have to admit they did a very impressive job with the arrangement of districts and (most all) of 4a :1::thanks:

4A is going to be loaded!!! Boyle will be tough to beat with that 2020 class all seniors. Most D1 talent of any team in the state.
Anderson has their QB, Collins, most of their line, maybe the best DE in the state and Labhart back after missing all but 1 game.
Lex Cath will be good as they were young this year and return their star QB.
Corbin has some good lineman and skill players back. They will be right in the thick of things.
Central lost a lot but will be good as always. Their coach is awesome.
Johnson Central is loaded also. They have a great line on O and D. I have been very impressed with their strength program.
Franklin-Simpson loses a ton but they are always reloading and I expect they will do the same.
Franklin, Wayne, and the list goes on. Tough class. Gonna be fun!

According to the lineups from the Title Game:
Corbin returns 2 of 5 Starters on the OLine.
They return 3 good backs but lose their #1 WR, QB and FB.
2/5 return on the DLine
4 LB/rovers graduate
2 Defensive Backs return
So if I'm reading it right they return 5/11 offensive starters and 4/11 on Defense.

They senior group at Corbin will be deeply missed, you canât teach heart. Corbin will be down but have some major talent, just needing there number called. By mid season will look like veterans, just need experience.

Corbin has some really good backups. Their linemen are impressive. Not just the seniors, but the other kids coming up.
12-04-2018, 10:53 PM
I'm not sure all that Boyle has returning. I'd like to hear from Jack or FoSho or someone who can fill us in.
We all know that Lanter, Smith and Bartelson return but who else from the starting units? Particularly linemen. Thanks.

Johnson Central returns:
2/5 Olinemen
1/2 Ends
2/3 Backs
QB returns
1/3 Defensive Linemen
3/3 Linebackers
3/4 Defensive Backs.
6 starters return on offense
7 starters return on defense
Looks like the Eagles will once again be in the thick of it all with what they have returning.

Boyle has Wilson Kelly back for defensive line. He is a top 5 DL in the state. The rest of the DL and OL will be ok. No D1 kids yet but a lot of size and depth.
12-05-2018, 01:10 AM
Boyle loses Crawford (RB), Stephens (OL), Hatter (DL) and Snider (DB). There were only like 10 seniors and these were the starters/contributors.

FS and JC both lose around 18-20 seniors Corbin also loses 20 seniors and if I counted right Central loses 23 seniors, as you said I believe Boyle only loses 4-5 starters I think Boyle would be the favorite going into next season.

They also lose Cameron Gwinn defense only but will be missed.

1-Boyle
2-Johnson Central
3-?
4-?
5-?
After my 1-2 the rest of the top 5 are a toss up, wouldn’t even try to predict a top 10.

You might be surprised.
Even if you're right, they're still Top 5.

I would put them at 3 now, but their Close game with Highlands didnât impress me at all Highlands is nowhere near the team or program they use to be, Covington Catholic showed that the second time around.

Corbin and Lou.Central graduate 20 plus seniors. The biggest difference is that Corbin dressed 80 plus in finals and Central dressed 48..
That is numbers that I counted I Championship game.

I would agree Central will be affected more by graduation than Corbin with the numbers they lose.

Their best player missed all but one game with a knee injury. They will be very big, tough and good imo.

I donât ever remember Anderson being bad they may only have one loss during the regular season and I expect that one to be Boyle.

Corbins Hardest hit will be at QB and LB... they lose 3/4. However they are also deep at that position.. As for QB, Haddix needs to get to work on this... He has options, but they are all young/inexperienced... they wonât be down long...
I def see Boyle, JC, Anderson, Franklin Simpson, Corbin in the top 5. Boyle has to be the overwhelming favorite with their athleticism and coaching. The latest news with Central just set them back big time.

Not necessarily. Itâs open season up in Louisville. You never lose a lot, just recruit more to come in. Their starting QB this year was a Ballard kid.

Boyle was just shutout in their last game of the season in 3A on a neutral. It is way, way too early to declare them the favorites to win a title in 2020, let alone to declare them the overwhelming favorites.

IMO with what everyone else loses and what Boyle returns they are the favorite and should be preseason number 1.

Few things to consider....
It was not neutral, it was at Corbin. A very tough place to play and the Rebels where nowhere near 100% healthy.
This title is for 2019, not 2020.
If you don't believe Boyle Co is the favorite you are simply a hater or aren't paying attention.
But sleep on em, please.

Since when is Campbell Stadium a neutral site?
The key for Boyle will be injuries. They had a slew of them this year and in the end it didn't help vs a talented and prepared Corbin team.
I for one look forward to Boyle's season next year. I think they will be very hungry after their ending this year. Add to that the quality of some of the opponents they have added to their schedule ought to prepare them very nicely for 4A post season.

When Boyle struggled, the reason was that everybody was underestimating how strong their opponents were.
Maybe Boyle will dominate it's competition next season, go undefeated and go home with the state title next season, but I won't be shocked if they are watching the finals from home again either.
I was almost convinced that Boyle was a top 5 or top 10 team this season, but I will be more skeptical of such claims next season.

I think that I will wait until at least a few games are played next season before crowning any team as the overwhelming favorites.
