I think it is winding down. Almost over. Probably after Holidays. I agree probably January 2nd.

There is no way an incoming head coach could even consider this. Impossible.

I could care less who helps him. I think his 322 wins trumps any of our opinions. I think Dudley has the previous coach helping, not for sure. In mountain schools you have to make the best of it. Does not bother me even a little bit. Maybe some of the Bell posters can let us know how to works out over there. I am going to trust his judgement.

Can my school get him before he makes it to Bell County?
12-23-2018, 07:09 AM
Maybe you can block the road before he crosses the Bell County line. Look out Middlesboro fans pjdoug is blocking the road.

Sounds like he is trying to get as much money and benefits as possible. Should be a good hire for Middlesboro. But they need more than a good varsity coach. They need their youth programs upgraded. He maybe the one to do that.

I don’t think so. I think a deal has already been made. I think announcement will be made after New Year. At least, I hope so. Besides Coach Hayward (Belfry) no one else I would rather have. The town of Middlesboro is so excited! Everywhere I go someone is talking about it. I do think it will take a little time to build the program where we want it to be.
12-24-2018, 04:53 AM
I wouldn't have a coach named Hayward.

Granny Bear Wrote:"SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - Larry French is leaving Southwestern High School after five seasons.
Sources tell WKYT that French has been offered the head coaching position at Middlesboro. Yellowjackets coach Zach Massengill was fired at the end of the season.
During his tenure at Southwestern, French was 47-17, and led the Warriors to four region championship games. Southwestern never made it to the state semifinal round.
French informed his players on Tuesday of his resignation."
This is the quote from WYMT. It says nothing about French accepting the offer, but with him looking at homes and speaking with Allen it is obvious that he is considering it.
Personally, I hope he takes the position. It would give the Jackets a much needed boost in their athletic programs.
It would be most interesting to see French take this job. I'll bet he could scare a few circling Bell County buzzards off and maybe even get them to bring back some carcasses they left with. Good luck to Middlesboro! I'd say French will have several in the area sweating if he takes the job and not just the teams in the Middlesboro district. He's a really good head coach!

I need to set up a road block to keep him in Whitley County so he can keep the Bell County and Corbin buzzards out.lol. Whitley County is almost as close to Log Mountain as Middlesboro is

I will say it again, the King of Bell County still reigns. The best is on Log Mountain and will stay. Dudley holds the crown ,Good luck

Jackets may move from 3rd fiddle to 2nd , but will never be first as long as Dudley is here.

I love it. Already got them concerned. Your right Bell has for sure got the better program in Bell County right now. It’s awesome your even talking about it. Keep it coming. Neither of us are Belfry or Corbin and will never be again. At least this gives a little excitement here in the county. Both of our coaches do not have that many years left. It will be fun as long as they are around. Not sure how old Hilton and French are. No hard feelings here just glad to be in conversation again. Bell should be the better program next year too. I really just think it is awesome. Been a long time for Middlesboro.
12-24-2018, 07:31 PM
No concern , nor in any conversation. Sometimes you have to remind folks of their place. As far as it being fun with these coaches you have to play us for that to happen. Hiring French, IF it happens, doesn't bring you anywhere. Last I remember is statements like," Nick Saban could not have won here". I guess now that was just in defense of one of your on. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and remember Little Brother your place.
12-24-2018, 07:41 PM
Just like you playing Corbin. Hope we all play again someday. Good for everyone.
12-24-2018, 09:17 PM
You are exactly right. Until we man up and play them we hold the same spot you do with us.
Let me clarify, no disrespect to Coach French but he has never coached a team as bad as the Jackets. Middlesboro is not Southwestern, Boyle or Lincoln, it is a small city school that has fallen off the map and not the athletes it had at all. Good Luck

No disrespect as you said to watcher, but why is it Bell County...King of the Mountains? I guess those people donât consider Belfry and Pikeville part of the mountains. Bell is the king of log mountain. Since we talked about Coach Frenchâs age, who will Bell go to when Dudley is finished? He leaves and you keep taking him back. Retirement gets us all.
12-25-2018, 04:09 AM
I don't think Xerxes was referring to the mountains. I think he was only referring to Bell County. Even the average Bell County fan knows Bell's program is not in the league with Belfry, Pikeville, Johnson Central, or Corbin. It's not anyone's fault. The county as a whole is shrinking at an alarming rate. There was a time when Bell or Middlesboro could compete with these teams. Johnson Central program is on path with Belfry, Corbin, and Pikeville, in my opinion. I have been impressed with Johnson Central's trips to the state lately. I heard Bell is under 700 students, not sure if that is true. I heard Middlesboro's princippal say it is under 400. Like I said it's not Hilton's fault. They should be very competitive in their district. I wonder what the county's population will be in another 5 to 10 years.
12-25-2018, 04:32 AM
Not saying anything about being Dudleyâs fault or anything like that. Middlesboro obviously will do better in the district regardless of coach. Bell will start winning the district again every year now with Corbin gone. Great runs by all of these mountain teams. I love it when we get some respect from around the state.

Am I the only one that notices the Bell Folk on here talkin trash... Why not jus be Happy. Be Happy that Middlesboro has a shot to get French. Makes the area as a whole better.. Bell has no right whatsoever to down another team or their schedule..... Pot callin the kettle black... Big talkers, Talk is cheap. Good luck to Middlesboro. Close the deal! Get some attention, thatâs what kills them.

I noticed. lol. If Whitley County can't get French I hope Middlesboro can.

Everyone loves attention, Bell, Middlesboro, Pineville, Corbin, Whitley, Knox etc....Each school will have challenges next year and it will be interesting to see what we will be talking about this time next month.
12-25-2018, 05:40 AM
Middlesboro-coach, Pineville-coach, Whitley-coach, Corbin-4A, Knox-gets Corbin in district and Bell-quarterback (Bell or Knoxville)

Actually Meade County and Lincoln County were in pretty sad shape when he arrived. Mercer wasnât much better.
Took Meade to a title game, Mercer to State Semifinals and Lincoln the same.
Middlesboro has history and French can reignite that history.
Might add he has a decent record vs Dudley I think.
