Belfry 2019 Schedule
#91
jetpilot Wrote:Hopefully with this new ratings system it won't cause Belfry to be on the road at some point in the playoffs when they could have been at home with a full schedule...

Thats my concerm jetpiot of not having a 10th game. With this new system, I believe it will hurt us come playoff time. Sure, I believe having 9 games would benefit us as far as being healthy and rested up. In years past it would have been idea. But not this year, not with KHSAA's ever changing ways.

In theory having 9 games with an extra week to heal up sounds good.. but I think the kids hate it. I also don't think it would help having week 10 off, a bad opponent round 1 and 2, and possibly someone not good round 3. That'd be a month of not really being tested.

bucslover68 Wrote:Could be a blessing in disguise. Would we prefer to play a 10th game? Sure. But a week to practice, possibly rest some nicks and bruises, and fine tune some things is not a bad thing IMO. I think it is better than just playing anyone to fill out the schedule.

My thinking as well, id rather play 9 quality games then have a dud game on the schedule.

Indiana only plays 9 regular season games and the coaches over there like it.

(granted every Indiana team makes the playoffs, so they get 10 games in.)

Yeah...that is definitely a possibility.

I think you win against the good teams and they win against good teams and you will be fine. I can definitely see both sides of a 9/10 game schedule, but with it looking like it's only 9 then we best make good use of our open dates. It will be strange having two Fridays off during the season.

But an extra game gives you another chance to beat a good team who beats other good teams

Belfry has a tough schedule on their hands. They'll have a tough time with Kettering Alter since they're a totally different animal but if the right things happen they may be able to pull that one out since it's in the regular season. Belfry's rushing attack will power them through the regular season and I anticipate them winning 8 - 9 games. With all the departures in 3A it shouldn't be too much trouble for Belfry to pull out a state title.

But that's just it, we're asking Belfry to pull out a state title in a favorable situation and we all know there's no school better at squandering those opportunities than Belfry. Confusednicker: I say 8-2 with an upset loss either in the state semi or final.

Belfry will be Belfry!! They could be the best overall program in the state.

Yep....we’ve squandered opportunities in the past no doubt. We just haven’t fallen off the face of the earth like Highlands has😂😂😂.......at least not yet. Just poking ya back !😂😂🏈🏈👍🏼

Highlands will be back. This stretch was actually talked about several years ago. Just a few down classes coming up. This team coming up will surprise!

It's good to be back poking you again! Confusednicker:

We’ve missed ya! 🏈🏈. Kentucky needs Highlands to be the Highlands of old.
Belfry vs highlands please

Even now, I would say Highlands wins with a running clock in mid to late 3rd quarter.
If Belfry still needs a 10th game, Point Pleasant has an opening on September 6th.

Not hardly. 😂😂😂. You may need to change your name to FarLeft😂. Actually Belfry attempted to get Highlands, Cov Cath, Central, Point Pleasant Wva, and about 8-9 others and couldn’t find a taker. Belfry is stuck with a 9 game schedule.

They were not interested
Who knows, maybe this late in the game, they may of had a change of heart.

Why would schools like Highlands or Cov Cath want to play Belfry? It would be a step down in competition. Might as well play NCC.

Sure wouldn't have in 15 or 16.
bucslover68 Wrote:Sure wouldn't have in 15 or 16.

U can’t pay any attention to FarLeft. Been gone since Highlands has been getting that tail kicked by everybody, including Little Sisters of the Blind HS. 😂😂. He’s off his Prozac again 😂.
Colt Bennit Wrote:Belfry will be Belfry!! They could be the best overall program in the state.

No they couldn't.
bucslover68 Wrote:Sure wouldn't have in 15 or 16.

Then Highlands wins by 21 - 28 instead of 50.
pjdoug Wrote:No they couldn't.

Yeah...I would agree. They get the maximum out of what they have. I would say Mayfield, Trinity and Highlands would claim the top three spots in no particular order. However....IMO....they’re probably top 5-7 statewide.

😂😂😂. Keep trying FarLeft.

Agreed.

I state facts. No way Belfry is top 5-7 statewide. They would barely be top 10 in 4A and they wouldn't touch the top 10 in 5A or 6A.

Well I try not to engage, but you're wrong.

You are trying too hard. lol
Real Badman Wrote:Well I try not to engage, but you're wrong.

No, I am WideRIGHT! Confusednicker:

In all seriousness, who would you put them over? 4A is loaded now. And we know they don't have the firepower or the depth to compete with the big boys in 5A and 6A.
