Referring to the actual program... not the specific performance of a team in a particular year. If that were the case Highlands would need to have been left off after this âdry spellâ theyâve been through 😂😂. Correct me if Iâm wrong but just in the past two seasons on here....the programs were ranked overall (top 50). I believe Belfry did finish top 7. You must have still been banned 😂😂😂😂

For the record, if you are talking pound for pound program strength historically:
Beechwood
Mayfield
Highlands
Trinity
Danville
This would be your Top 5 in some order. IMHO, these 5 are clearly in a class of their own.
The next tier would be:
St. X
Male
Boyle County
Cov Cath
Belfry
Central
Pikeville
NewCath
Franklin-Simpson
Corbin
Personally, I think Belfry would be in the 9-12 range overall.
Hard to argue against St. X's 12 Titles or Male's 8 Titles. Boyle also has 8 titles, they just have a shorter history of success as their only blemish. Still think they are a solid #8.
I like Belfry's history more than Franklin-Simpson, Corbin, and you have to give the very slight edge historically over Pikeville and NewCath (but it is very close and those scales have only turned in recent years). Belfry historically seems to be right there with CovCath and Central, I think you have to give Central the edge because they have held up better head to head.CovCath has won titles in 4 different decades which is very impressive, they probably would have a lot more hardware if not for Highlands. With that said, Runner-Up finishes have to be weighed heavily and they don't have a ton of them.

If I were to throw a ranking:

No way Belfry is ahead of CovCath or even NewCath. Highlands should be number one - actually there are three more state titles usually not listed because it was before the KHSAA kept track.

In all seriousness, who would you put them over? 4A is loaded now. And we know they don't have the firepower or the depth to compete with the big boys in 5A and 6A.
But Central and DeSales does? I'm not sure how this years team will fare, but I can assure you Belfry would beat a good majority of the teams in upper classes.

I highly doubt Belfry would beat all these schools. Maybe some of the smaller ones, especially ones like NCC and Collins. But the 5A and 6A schools that go 5-5, many of them would give Belfry fits if not beat them. Belfry is a solid 3A school. But they're not a top ten program in terms of how solid of a team they are this year or their tradition.

Belfry has 6 Titles and 7 Runner-Ups.
CovCath has 7 titles and 1 Runner-Up.
NewCath has 5 Titles and 6 Runner-Ups.
Belfry and NewCath would have substantially more Regional Titles than CovCath as well.
To be honest, CovCath's resume is actually considerbaly less impressive than NewCath's at second glance, let alone Belfry's.
The only argument you can make for CovCath to be above either is the "what if" game since Highlands has always been in their path all these years. Obviously that doesn't hold water when judging things based off statistical proof. Even then, both NewCath and Belfry have not been lacking for years that they lost to the eventual State Champ themselves in the playoffs.
It's also worth noting Belfry is 5-1 vs. NCC head to head. Belfry and CovCath have not met.

It wouldn't be a what-if game, it's a fact game. Many years CovCath or Johnson Central would be loaded only to not make it through a highlands team that usually was solid enough to pull an upset over a major Ohio school such as Cincinnati St. X. CovCath and Belfry aren't in the same league. Maybe NCC - I'm glad at least Belfry can say they are leading them all-time. But other than that, CovCath is substantially ahead of Belfry because there are many years they would have won state had it not been for Highlands. The only school that might have stopped them is Johnson Central.

Don't know about overall history of Kentucky high school football, but it would be really hard to keep Belfry out of the Top 5 in the State, regardless of class from 2013 to 2016. The Pirates had a four year stretch there that unless your name was Trinity there was none better. A four year stretch that may never be seen again in the Eastern Kentucky mountains with the way the economy is. Just my opinion.

Nope, just referring to a team that's relevant year in and year out. Your jealousy is sad. I truly wish you had a team to cheer for so you could stop hating and trolling on the teams that matters threads. I feel sorry for you. But I get it. You could always cheer for a winner in your area, I dont know, may be Corbin. Lol
