It’s sad but there really is a recruiting battle between belfry and Mingo central in this area and it seems Mingo central is winning right now. Not sure how bad it’ll hurt belfry this year considering they got a good backfield, but I have to believe if the trend keeps up they are going to be hurting bad in a year or so. Mingo central on the other hand, it seems like Joey fields is like a magnet for transfers. He comes back and instantly their roster gets 20 points better. They have added atleast 5 kids that I know of since he has returned
I can tell you one of them missed to much school to play I think it was over 60 some days and the other one well let’s just say we won’t miss him if a kid moves it’s because of a problem better for them to have the problem than us

Did the former player miss those 60 days after football season was over? Or did he miss often during the season and it was overlooked by the staff at Belfry? Also how does a kid that misses 60 days during the school year pass that year? Was that overlooked as well? Asking for a friend of course.

All facetiousness aside the crap being posted by the group you are discussing is doing more negative than it is positive in my opinion. It might have been dedicated to getting college eyes on mountain kids when the second party was involved. However, now that it is a solo endeavor it has become a running comedy show of the proprietor attempting to be ESPN or Bleacher Report with local sports.
If they want to actually be interesting and relevant they need to do the following in my opinion.
1. Stop the silly nicknames. Some are mildly obnoxious while others are almost a little offensive. I'm looking at you White Chocolate. I'm sorry but Joe "The Terminator" Smith is 9 years old, your nickname does not make him the "Top" prospect in the mountains. Kids don't need that pressure from Social Media, some are already getting it from relatives, coaches, etc.
2. High School Transfers are not something to glorify. This isn't professional sports free agency or trade deadline blockbusters. School pride should be a thing and highlighting transfers the way they do is just stupid.
3. Invest in a spellchecker! Take a class in writing even.
4. Source your material and maybe consult people involved in polarizing articles.
5. If they can't adapt to the things above shut down so the rest of us don't have to look at it all the time.
/rant off.
Sorry, this has been bugging me for a while.
No one has to look at it ever, much less "all the time."
Agree with you partially though. I'm also looking at you White Chocolate lol.:ChairHit:

First practice for the Pirates started this evening at 6 PM. Football is finally back! Going to be a great and fun year of football on Pond Creek! And even better news for this guy, I just found out that I dont have to deploy back to the Middle East next month for a year which means I get to watch my son play his senior year of football, I get to see him wrestle his final year, and will get to see him walk across that stage and graduate! Truly blessed! My prayers have been answered!

I think Joe could really help us at LB if he can stay healthy and Coach chooses to play him there. We are in dire need of another solid LB. If we can get that spot locked down by a solid, consistent player our defense will be awful stout this year. Definitely better than the last couple years. Joe is as tough as they come. Like I said, if he can stay healthy and Heywood puts him at LB, watch out for that Pirate D! Also hearing some noise that with Thornsbury transferring out Ethan Wolford will be playing some minutes in the middle of that defensive line beside big Jake Baisden. That's some big boys on the D-Line! Buts it's all going to come down to health. Seems like all the injuries we've had the last 2 years have come from that side of the ball. At least its affected our defense the most anyway. Expectations are high this year for Belfry regardless.

You know how important the 2nd fullback is too. Maybe not as much with Hensley being offense only, but still important (Fletcher was offense only and you saw how much Wellman ran)... if he stays healthy thatâs a big addition back from injury.

Awesome news on your deferred deployment! I know how much this year means to you and your family. Injuries, injuries, injuries. Over the last 4 seasons this has been a consistent trend for the Pirates. IMO....were due some positive mojo on that front 😂😂. If....and itâs a big If....J Chafin can stay healthy, he would definitely be a boost on either side of the ball. It remains to be seen if he can go both ways consistently. IMO.....I would rather see him at LB. heâs had such bad luck the past few years injury wise .....I just hope he gets to play.
This team is gonna be stout. On both sides of the Ball. O-Line is gonna be better than anyone could have guessed. Mark it down.

Thanks brother, appreciate that. And I agree, this O-Line, if they put in the time could be just as good if not better than last year. But it's all on them. According to how bad they want it. Alot of people are doubting them. Should give them some motivation. Well see.

Looks like Birchfield didn't transfer after all. He's been practicing with the Pirates all week. While this is a plus on the football field and we really need him in the secondary, I really hope the kid gets it together at school. If it's TRUE that he missed that much school last year then there is a big problem there. Classroom first! I dont care who you are or how good you are. If you can't show up for classes then you shouldn't be allowed to play, plain and simple. I just dont get it. This kid is highly intelligent. He scored a 24 on his ACT and does real well when he's at school. Hopefully he gets it together this year. While he has no where near the size to play big D-1 ball, the kid CAN play at another level. I took Ethan to a camp this year and we were asked about Isiah. So the opportunity is there for him. I hope he takes advantage of it. But like I said, I may just be old school, but in my opinion classroom MUST come first. I dont care if we lose every game, if these kids cant take care of school first then they should sit until they do. Just my two cents on the matter. But I am glad he stayed. We really need him if he takes care of buisness in the books first.

CAL will be tough in the trenches, as usual. They have a very solid RB returning and solid TE and a couple of solid WRs, plus there QB returns. I do think that W/O Wright, the offense may take a step back, but, what will make CAL go will be what they do on defense. Very tough against the run and guys in the secondary that can cover you. Losing there Head Coach, who was a great one, could make a difference. Not sure of the new coaches pedigree or how he runs a program, but, chances are, he's no slouch and they'll continue building that program.
Desales is a team you need to give a 2nd look to. CAL has had there # the past couple of years, but, prior to that, the Colts had been getting the better of them. This is always a talented, well coached team. They'll likely be the deepest, most talented team overall in 3A. They'll dress 80+ kids and will be very solid, especially defensively, where you can bet they'll be big upfront and they'll pursue sideline to sideline as well as anyone you'll see. They'll be well prepared for a playoff run with a great non district schedule which includes St X, Butler & Lex Catholic. This is definitely a team you need to take seriously.
