Belfry at Kettering Alter, OH 9/13
#1
I knows its early but I was without football last night. Who ya got? Do the Pirates have a chance to get a huge road win here?
#2
Don't know anything about Alter, but I know Belfry pretty good. I'll take the Pirates by a couple of scores at least.

I sure hope your correct my friend! From what I'm told, I dont know, but their supposed to be one of those powerhouse Catholic schools in Ohio. Not many giving us much of a chance.

Kettering Alter has been good since time began. Play a killer schedule every year. Pirates could be a little in the deep end of the pool this week. Hope they win though.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. But if we didnt take this game we'd only had 8 games this year. And it's a one and done series to from my understanding. We'll see. But it may get ugly though, especially on the road.

Thanks Spud for adding the date. I always forget that.
#7
I thought it was Archbishop Alter? No?
#8
It’s the Archbishop Alter Knights. They are a very good Division III team in Kettering Ohio. They were 13-2 last year and state runners up. 2-0 this year allowing only 7 points in two games.
#9
Question for someone they may know or can find out. Where do they play their home games? I’m not sure it’s at their school.

Archbishop Alter is a pretty good team and they run the wishbone, yes the true bone! Their go to guy is Branden McDonald a 3 star who is ranked 19th in the 2021 OH class. They run McDonald on blasts, dives, and counters, nothing too tricky to the Alter offensive scheme. The interior D guys better be ready to play this week. I predict a quick eat the clock up 28-24 Belfry win. Gotta play a grittier smashmouth game and wear them down. Dixon is better than McDonald

It’s been a few years since I been on here. I believe with few mistakes Belfry and the running game will will this game. #3 reminds me of Tomas Varney with a better back field. Time will tell.

A think a lot of it is gonna depend on how healthy the Pirates are come Friday.

calpreps has 24-14 so Belfry not outmatched by any means.

Jet.....I’m really surprised by that as well. I figured Belfry would be a decided underdog going into this game. I will say that usually when we travel more than 4 hours and play the same day.....it doesn’t usually go very well😂. But.....we’ll see what happens. Should be a good experience either way as long as we can stay away from injuries.

Game is at 7pm at Fairmont’s Roush Stadium. 3750 Far Hills Avenue....Kettering OH...45429.

Going to be a really tough feat to win this one.

Alter is a very good team and actually reminds me a lot of Belfry in a lot of regards. They run out of the true Wishbone and also use the spread for some midline stuff where they have their monster QB and Monster RB who can hurt you.

Defensively they play a 5-3.. unfortunately for Belfry, their first two games have just so happened to have been against teams who also run out of the Flexbone so they are going to be well coached and already used to the keys and reads that Belfry's Offense brings. Usually when Belfry plays these teams their Offense requires an abrupt adjustment or that team has to put in a whole new Defense just for that game, this will not be the case.

Alter has 4 players who really stand out on video:

JR RB Branden McDonald- 6'1 225 monster already with a few offers to MAC schools. Not a ton of top end speed, but this guy is a bad dude. Big, strong, tough and loves contact. Belfry better tackle low and hard and with multiple players if possible. He won't beat you with his speed, but if he is one on one and you miss the tackle he has enough speed to turn that 3 yard gain into a 35 yard gain.

SOPH WR/SS CJ Hicks- 6'4 220 and a complete superstar in the making. As a Sophomore already have numerous Power 5 offers including Miami, Iowa, Kansas State, among others. Very fast and athletic, but will hit you. This guy is going to be a 4* or a 5* player. Belfry has to find him and get a hat on him when running outside or else he can get to the ball and shut it down.

SR MLB Mason Henry- 6'2 225 When you think of a MLB from a strong football school in Ohio he is exactly what comes to mind. Very smart, good nose for the football, plays downhill. He has some lower levels FCS offers. Will be very tough against Belfry's FB and anything between the tackles.

SR QB Kale Steneman- 6'2 210 Reminds me a lot of Camron Sizemore. Very strong arm
with enough passing talent to hurt you, but his feet are equally as dangerous. Physical runner who is not looking for a 40 yard sprint, but just want that 12 yard gain where he bounces off a defender.

The clock will move fast on this one. Possessions will be limited. Alter wants to make sure they don't beat themselves, very fundamentally sound. Belfry's Defense should be able to keep them in the game.

Not sure Belfry will be able to sustain drives. They need to get a couple big plays from Dixon and Bentley to have a chance and you can't play from behind.

Who this team really reminds me of are those Ironton teams under Coach Lutz that always gave Belfry fits.

I just thin too many obstacles for Belfry to overcome, I'll say Alter by 10-14 in a relatively low scoring game.

I can't wait to play this game. In my honest opinion, I'll be shocked if Belfry wins this game especially being on the road 5 hours away. But we should be pretty much healthy and I want to see exactly where we stack up against a big, physical, powerhouse team. If we lose, I dont think it will hurt us much at all. Win or lose, this game can do nothing but make us better. If we go to Ohio and play with this team and keep it close and only lose by 10-15 points then the Pirates will have impressed me. If we win, this will be a huge accomplishment. But if we go up there and get a running clock put on us and get totally dominated then we're no where near where I think we are. I'm not going to pick against my Pirates so I'll say Belfry will shock the world and pull out a very close road victory 35-31.

I don't know much about Alter but good luck to Belfry.

Best of luck Belfry.... shake em up 👊

Anyone heard if we are adding a game the off week

I doubt very seriously if that happens. I've never seen a game added well after the season has started, especially this far along. But nothing would please me more. Ethan hasn't said anything to me about getting another game but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. What have you heard?
#26
I heard they was trying to get a team in Nashville but hadn’t heard anything in a couple weeks

They were talking with a couple teams in Ohio, a team in TN, and were even talking to a team out of NJ, atleast that's what I was told, but nothing ever happened. Unfortunately, we're stuck with a nine game season.

How do you know that Dixon is better than McDonald?
#29
How do you know I know everything? It’s just my opinion. Dixon will just have to prove me right

This will be a good game for Belfry’s offensive line to grow from. This is going to be a line up in front of you smash mouth football game. Belfry will have to play assignment football and get on blocks quickly. As the offensive line goes, Belfry goes. I just don’t think there quiet there yet, but that’s why you schedule games like this. Alter will have to much for the Pirates to handle.

Alter 35
Belfry 21
