Our fans can be some of the most fair weathered people I have ever seen. A team that has a history of not losing very much at all and when they do boy, the sky is falling. History lesson folks, letâs take a stroll down memory lane.
1993, we had a little team get beat by Fulton Co, PT and Graves County in the first 4 games. We had people go nuts. Our first year coach had signs put in his yard, for sale. What happened, won state. That very coach won another state title 2 years later with this team and played in another state championship 3 years after that.
1999 had another first year coach off to a shaky start. He had signs put in his front yard, for sale. That team lost in the semis to a loaded team. That coach has since won 6 state championships and played in another 5 state title games.
In that stretch we started the 2012 season with a tough loss to Warren Central. The talk began right there about not being able to do it. Wel, won the first of 4 straight state titles.
The point is, teams have bad nights, teams lose, that is part of life. How many of you have made it through life without losing? Iâve lost more than Iâve won. We donât start bad mouthing our bunch and give up. We work hard, study and learn what we did wrong. Then, we get better. That is exactly what these coaches will do with this team. Get over it all. McCracken was bigger and better last night and they won. That does not mean our team is terrible, our boys are too small, our dbâs are terrible. It means they are young athletes that make mistakes. Hopefully they learn from them and this becomes one of the best life lessons you could have.
But for Godâs sake please quit basking your team and let this play out.

I for one am not a fair weather fan I have be paying. My $6 to support the Cards for 20 + years like a lot of others. I have no problems losing or with a team being down in size and talent. I do have a problem when these young athletes do not learn from week to week and continue to make the same mistakes. I do have a problem when I see a team that is getting there tails whipped and not a one steps up and tries to fire up the team. It is more like when is this gonna be over so we can get to Friday Nights done right. I will never make believe that a mayfield team that is giving the effort this team has is the best I will call it out as I see it and will not apologize. I will apologize for forgetting these are kids and giving them the business sometimes I get carried away But you know what a cardinals that donât hear from there fans, play with no emotion or heart is and expect a trophy for looking good. That would be an Eagle.

Just keep playing Tilghman and you will have a guaranteed win each year.

I think we have some that don’t express themselves well. But, I can assure you that they care. I think they have had a slight case of thinking talent alone can carry them. But, I think this can be an eye opener and the best cure for that kind of stuff. I’m not questioning anyone’s loyalty as a fan. I just think sometimes we forget these are young impressionable boys and they know they messed up. Let’s just hope it fuels them to get better.

Too much talk about running clocks and lopsided scoring predictions will bite you from time to time. Sometimes you get out played. Both McCracken and Mayfield could have unbeaten records at this point, but one would lose tonight. People who have watched football or any sport for a long time will tell you there are W's and L's. This was a W. Not a perfect played game. Who has the Stats?

It’s always fun to talk it though. Gonna get bit from time to time. I foresee that several times next year.

Mayfield is fine. Come October they will steamroll the opposition. Only the Bunnies between them and another state title.

When you rarely get beat it makes it tough when you do get beat. Our success, 2nd loss in 79 home games, our 12 in the last 10 seasons home and away. This loss shocked me for a couple reasons. Last year we had a great team that did not win it but was close and we returned a lot of the stars this year leaving myself and many fans thinking this would be one of the best teams we have had in years. I fully expected a 15-0 season with lots of running clocks but we have had none so far and we just got beat. Reflecting on this all the signs that we are not where I and many thought we would be have been there all along but I kept pushing those aside. After last night the reality of ignoring is no longer possible and we are not going to be that 15-0 team. This team obviously has the potential and we have a great staff that will most likely get this team to improve and I will still be shocked if they are anything less than state champs but we are not as far along as I had thought we would be. Last night we made some big mistakes that got us behind the 8 ball early and often and it got worse once McCracken smelled blood in the water. McCracken flat out took us behind the shed in pretty much all phases of the game and all you can do is now that its over is give them all the credit in the world, they were better. I listened to the coaches show this morning and Coach Morris told it like it was and said they would use this L to fix areas McCracken exposed. Morris said this might be in the end a good loss to learn where we need to get better and we have time to learn and improve. He gave all the credit to McCracken and I really liked the way he handled a rare situation for all us. I hope we can learn from this and for now I have re thought where we are. Many of us are victims of incredible success in the past and I really do not know how to lose very well. I really don't care for it, that is for sure.

On a side note, I have been promoted to a Head Coach this morning by BluegrassRivials. I want to give them a big thanks for showing confidence in me.

I am not taking, anything away from the Mustangs,I am not taking anything away from the Cardinals, but when you are Mayfield showing up is not a automatic win. To some opponents beating Mayfield is their championship game kids should realize when you have the success Mayfield has had over the years you are a target and everyoneâs goal is to hit the bullseye, as a matter of fact this loss should be good for Mayfield. As far as the trash talking on here when we brag about how bad we are going to beat someone Iâm sure parents coaches etc share this with the kids and it just fires them up. So with that said....Like sands through the hourglass so are the days of our lives

To a certain degree you want them to have the thought of being superior. I will never forget what old (former) number 42 told me. His freshman year when he got his football jersey, he had just come out of baseball, where he played as an 8th grader. Of course we took our share of beatings in baseball. So, he held up that football jersey and said âDad, people fear us in thisâ. But, he did his part as well as the rest of the team did to make sure that everyone did fear them.

Some stats: McCracken Wheat passing 368 yards, Hayes 275 receiving, Bradley 148 rushing.
Mayfield Stinson 243 yards passing 3 interceptions, Galbraith 135 rushing, Neeley 135 receiving/I think

Seriously?! Well that'll get that young man in the record books.

55, nothing personal, but, your pregame forecasts each and every week for the past 10 yrs. have been a running clock, regardless who the opposition is with little to no respect for anyone we play. That tends to make enemies of a lot of other fan bases and when things like Friday night do happen, makes most people outside of Mayfield happy campers. Whatâs worse, it doesnât help. If our impressionable 15-18 year old kids read those type comments, they get to thinking there better than what they are and if other kids from the teams we play read them, it just makes them more determined to prove people wrong. If you want to get on here and berate the Cardinal fans for telling things like they see them, then those same fans have the same right to tell fans like yourself that what you do doesnât help either. In fact, it does just the opposite. Weâre all fans and want to win and weâve won our far share and then some over a long period of time, but, youâre the last fan that should call anyone out for anything.

The 2019 Mayfield/McCracken game is over now let's move on. Sure McCracken has bragging rights for a year but other than winning a game against a storied program like Mayfield a 6 A should win more than just 3 out of 7 years against 2A. I'm proud of McCracken & I'll always pick them to win. But come November, this game means nothing for either school. Mayfield is Mayfield. They were in this game til the end. It was no blowout. McCracken played their best game so far. Mayfield played well but not like the typical Mayfield usually does. In the end we all know that between the two it'll be Mayfield playing at Kroger Field & not McCracken. Good win for McCracken, but let's move on.

No correlation at all. Big difference in listing your thoughts on how a score will go versus referring to our team and specific kids as terrible.

Thatâs my point. We will fix things and wind up where we should be. I can think of at least 2 state titles MHS won after losing to McCracken. Also, I think they even the series up next year.

Mayfield will be fine. They just lost a game. It happens. Cards will bounce back. This may just have been what they needed. Now they'll see their not invincible and stop listening to all the hype and just play Cardinal football and get that championship hunger back.

Coach Joe and his staff will make adjustments to help us improve, there is no staff in this state thatâs any better at that, having said that, they canât get blood out of a turnip, the problems we are having are personnel, you can move some guys around , make some tweaks, but this defense will never be a Great D, the offensive and defensive lines will never be great lines, now , that doesnât mean we canât go undefeated the rest of the way and win the gold ball, we could, but it wonât be an easy task. Furthermore, I highly doubt we will face an offense that good in 2-A, we shall see.

I think the game will be close for about three quarters. Look for Leslie Countyâs Speed to be too much
