If the semi finals where to play out to todayâs RPI rankings it would be.
#4 Logan County @ #1 Franklin County
#3 Johnson Central @ #2 Boyle County
#4 Logan County @ #1 Franklin County
#3 Johnson Central @ #2 Boyle County

Franklin vs Johnson central
Boyle vs Logan county
Would be equal travel distance for all four teams, winner face off at Kroger field,

Franklin County is the top seed currently and would play #4 at home.

I really hope this system works out to where the top 2 teams play for the title.

A system that tells me Franklin county deserves home field advantage over Boyle County and Anderson County is as high as 6th in 4A is a flawed system.

That would be awful. Would love to see a JC Vs Boyle. Championship

I would agree wholeheartedly

Franklin and Boyle would be 40 minutes away. The others are more like 2.5 - 3 hours from Krogers

I can’t understand how Franklin County is still at the top of the RPI, I know they’re undefeated and their scores have been impressive but their strength of schedule is really lacking in my opinion.

Boyleâs first 3 opponents have a 2-15 record. Mercer and Highlands are pluses and CAL has been dropping. Thatâs IMO the reason. Boyle has pretty much destroyed everyone they played and done all they can do but no help from Danville, Iroquois, and Bullitt Central has to be the reason. Iâm confused as to how that makes one team better than another and ranked higher but thatâs the rule we play by.
To be honest with this Boyle team I could care less. Boyle will be ready to play anyone anytime anywhere. It would just be a shame if Boyle and Johnson Central are on the same side of the bracket.

Iâd say by the time the Districts are finished, it should work itself out, hopefully.

But are they going to reseed the final 8 statewide or east and west?
The Courier Journal article I read I’m pretty sure said statewide.

Jack if you are a top 2 seed you are guaranteed home field throughout. The RPI from my understanding does not go up or down after the regular season. So, where you are when the playoffs start are set. Teams will move up or down because out of Catholic, Anderson, and Boyle only one will make the Seeding part of the playoffs. That will shuffle teams up in seeding.

I have no idea how the RPI is calculated so this may be a mute point. I added up all the remaining to be played team's RPI's for Boyle, Franklin and Johnson Central and divided it by the number of games left to get an average. The average RPI for the Boyle's remaining opponents is .5815. The average RPI for the Franklin's remaining opponents is .4575 and the average RPI for the Johnson Central's remaining opponents is .4186. So if all three teams win out the rest of the season it would appear that Boyle would at least not drop from number two and would probably go to number one. If both Johnson Central and Franklin win out then their relative positions would not change. Both Boyle and Franklin play the final game of the regular season against a 5A school while Johnson Central plays a 3A school for their final game. I read somewhere (not sure if it is correct) that playing up is worth more than playing down. Also Boyle and Franklin have just four remaining regular season games left while Johnson Central has five. Please reread the first sentence again.

I must have misread. I could have swore the RPI keeps getting calculated after the season into the playoffs.

It will be a shame if JC and Boyle are paired in the semi finals. They are clearly the two best 4a teams. JC has a weak district so they can win out and probably still not positively change their RPI. Of course, I may be totally wrong.... I dunno...I guess wait and see how it all shakes out.
10-01-2019, 05:52 PM
I will say this, I have seen 6 teams play from the top 10 and Franklin is as good as Boyle and JC. JC is not one that I have seen
10-01-2019, 06:01 PM
The reason that Johnson Central is not #1 in the RPI now is the penalty for playing good out of state opponents. Belfry is the only team left on their schedule that is likely to have any meaningful impact on their RPI and that is assuming that they come home from Pond Creek with a win. Win or lose, Boyle seems to have home field locked up. Maybe Franklin County will stumble and open the way for a JC BC final.

I agree and I donât see Franklin having a problem with them. I think Shelby will handle them this week.
Wagner IMO is the team to fear in District 4

I am not one that thinks Franklin County should be ranked higher than anyone.. But their schedule has been as a good as any outside a handful of school, Who knew Anderson County would be down after their last two seasons? Collins always big and athletic. East Jessamine coming off a good year, Woodford was 3-1 when they played, Hills is hills but had a nice year last year.

IF FC can control its penalties, I think they will go 10-0. Franklin D is that good.

IMO Central beats Franklin even in a down year Central will easily have the best athletes and defense Franklin has seen all year.

I don't think that will happen. Central will beat them I think, but Shelby Wont get clocked. Flyers will be ready to put up a fight on Central, time will tell. Been a while since the Flyers have been in these kind of talks, they better just get ready for North Oldham.
