Pikeville at Hazard predictions 10/18
#61
Just hope for a injury free, competitive game tomorrow night.

The one thing that bothers me about the whole “your going to get cheated at Hazard” thing from the last couple of weeks from everyone that comes to hazard is,,, Yes there are bad calls, but it is kind of disrespectful to the Hazard kids and Hazard coaches that these teams just think only reason hazard can play with them is cause they cheat.

Hazard has good players and a coach that has been to the finals 4 times in the last 11 years. It is not always the other team got cheated, like a previous poster said it is just as hard to win at Pikeville and Paintsville but it is what it is,, you just have to play through it.

Pikeville and Paintsville both have great programs, with great players and great coaching staffs. Just seems Hazard never gets any credit, it’s always they cheat or just they are lucky or so and so was hurt.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow night.

Seriously? One team has a reputation for home cooking and it isn't Pikeville.
Watch the penalties tomorrow and if it's like Somerset with a major penalty every other play on Pikeville and next to nothing on Hazard, and Hazard fans scream they deserved all the penalties then everyone will say haha it's at Hazard.

Pikeville will have to overcome a boatload of penalties to win this game, write it down. I was going to go to the game but I'm staying home and starting a Pikeville/Hazard penalties thread.:flame:

That's great, everyone can see for themselves and refs are accountable. Hazard can win, Pikeville has to bring their best. Strap it on boys and may the best team win with no injuries to either squad.Confusedinglepar:Cheerlead

SMH,, no win situation for Hazard, if we lose it’s because Pikeville is the best team in country beside the New England Patriots.... if Hazard wins it’s no doubt they Cheated!

VICTORY FORMATION Wrote:SMH,, no win situation for Hazard, if we lose it’s because Pikeville is the best team in country beside the New England Patriots.... if Hazard wins it’s no doubt they Cheated!

VICTORY FORMATION, I am a Pikeville fan and I don’t think I have said once that I was worried about the refs. I believe you can ask bac2369 that he might verify that. One poster brought up the game in 2017 about a player getting his ankle re hurt in that game which was in 2018 and it was the Birchfield young man but that game was at Pikeville and I have watched it on tape and it looks to be deliberate. These young men let their emotions get the best of them sometimes. I Will not say anyone cheated unless it is so obvious it can’t be mistaken. Heck there is bad calls in every game or at least to all the fans. This will be a war by both teams and the one that does the best taking care of the ball and not making mental mistakes wins. Then they will meet again more than likely. So good luck to both teams and hope everyone comes out healthy. I will say Pikeville’s offense is very good but I know Hazard has watched film and seen what Paintsville and Raceland did to throttle the offense they have a chance, but I think Pikeville’s defense will give Hazard some problems. Who knows in these rivalry games but I don’t think it will be a shoot out like it was last year. I have been wrong before and might be now but I guess we will see tomorrow night, but as always GO PANTHERS!!! PS and your are right the New England Patriots are the best.

I Heard yesterday there Will not be no tv game for Hazard and Pikeville

Maybe I missed other Paintsville fans complaining about the refs during this years Hazard game, but I clearly stated that the refs were a complete non- factor in our game at Hazard. They called the obvious and let the teams play football. Just found it odd I keep seeing people talk about how Paintsville was complaining about the officials...

I hope for the same tonight. Good luck to both. Stay injury free and hopefully Paintsville gets a chance to get some revenge on one of these teams down the road. Preferably on a neutral site if you catch my drift.

What isn’t mentioned in this post is Pikeville tried to run at Allen all night (BTW didn’t work).

Just because the kid made some tackles doesn’t mean he’s the best player. Allen is good don’t get me wrong. But the D Line helps him more than they get credit for. They’re big and physical allowing him to shoot gaps with ease. I still enjoy watching Thompson play more. Sorry if my opinion bothers you.

No different at Pikeville everyone talks about Isaac and Hensley. My favorite player to watch on that team is Collum. While at Hazard it is Fletcher. I just really love kids who play with grit to leave it on the field for their brothers, kids who may not be as physically gifted.

Fact ... he did say non-factor.

Hey, it woke you up! More so did that just to get a rise out of you. I grew up in the 15th region and never have had an issue with Pikeville fans of refs. Just wish there was more conversation on here about putting the ball down. Instead it’s been people bellyaching about games past. Good luck to the Panthers tonight.

This is not the WYMT GOW, there isn’t one actually. Dawgs/Panthers were the game they wanted from what I’ve heard and neither school wanted it (said it would hurt attendance/gate). If you want to see this one you’re going to have to make the trip to Daniel Field on a crisp Autumn night. Hazard has a lot to prove.

I hate this “it’ll hurt the gate” crap so many schools use.

I know it’s true but I just don’t like not having these kids on live television when the opportunity arises in a huge game like this.

Totally agree. From what some folks have told me several of your top schools don’t allow them. You can basically figure it out which ones don’t allow them based off that info. Scratch Pike Co. Bowl though I think they’re contractually bonded to let WYMT do those games.

It’s game day Panthers buckle up this is going to be a tuff one. Lot on the line tonight for both these schools, so we will get to see who wants it the most. Hope for injury free game for both teams. I know it’s going to be a challenge for both teams but the one that comes out and execute’s their best wins and do their jobs wins but as always GO PANTHERS!!!

Once again, this is a hard game for me to pick. Hazard is so tough at home, it wouldn't surprise me one bit, if they don't pull off the upset. Hazard is hard nosed and well coached and regardless of the outcome, it will be one heck of a ballgame. Pikeville on the other hand is playing like a well oiled machine. They have an impressive resume, especially with the win over Belfry. On paper Pikeville is the clear favorite, but there is just something about this Hazard team that makes them dangerous. At the end of the night, I look for Pikeville to earn a hard fought win. Pikeville wins 28-21. Good luck to both teams.
#83
Going with Hazard by 10 at home! I know Pikeville has all the weapons and potential in the world and that have that huge win against Belfry but it’s been a few weeks since they’ve played at a high octane level and I can see them coming out flat and getting behind the 8 ball on the road! It’s hard to beat Hazard at home and if you dig yourself a whole it’s extremely hard! To all my Pikeville buddies have a safe trip and I hope it’s a hard fought injury free game!

I agree with you those two play with a lot of heart and are good players. I personally think it takes all eleven of them on both sides of the ball to make any team a great team at any school. In this game they all better do their jobs or they will be on the short end of the stick. I guess we all have certain ones that we like to watch do their thing but no one player or 2 players win a game it’s all of them contributing. I do understand what your saying about those two though they both don’t get the headlines and the glory but you can bet their teammates know how important they are and so do I.

I want to point out since things have changed. There will be another game between these two, unlike years past where if they advance to play again.

Question is do u show all your cards or do you save something?

Good question, personally I would want to play at home so I would go all out to win. I guess that’s why I am not a coach just an spectator. This game means a lot to both not only district champs but this rivalry goes way back. What about you bac2369? As always GO PANTHERS!!!

I think you’re right on that. If I’m coaching there’s no way I go to the house with a couple things that could make me win the game and eventually have home field advantage the next time they face one another. Because both teams are incredible at home and would much rather play in front of their home crowd.

I don't know what's going on in the mountains here lately but I've seen alot of empty seats about everywhere I've went to watch high school football games this year. Even on Pond Creek the crowds just dont seem to be the same. SMH!

Been like that for a few years now. This years Pikeville crowds are the biggest I have seen in 30 years though. I think where we have more sports like volleyball, archery, and golf people are just locked into their own thing and extremely busy.

I keep hearing this excuse from school officials that television coverage hurts attendance. The people that will go to the games are gonna go whether it’s on tv or not. Radio covers them with no issue. I HIGHLY doubt that television coverage will effect attendance how they think it would. There are a lot of older folks that can’t make it out because of health issues so put it on tv and let people watch.
