Will there be a 2020 football season?
FootballFan1999 Wrote:Lol isn’t that the truth. You try to disagree with the guy and he’ll begin to belittle you. Seen it happen too many times.. I’m sure he’s going to come for me now 🤐

Let him come and he has a right to his opinion but so do the the rest of us.

Yes K Caudill was a senior but his younger brother is a junior to be and he has talent at the linebacker position. He has the potential to be a dandy but it’s all up to him to put in the work.
Budsqueezer Wrote:No vaccine no season!!!!

Poor old squeezer, there is a lot of diseases we don’t have vaccines for but we still have to live. Ask the person who gives you the flu vaccine if it’s good for every kind of flu and if he is honest that person will tell you no. This has to be a tough decision for the people who think they are in control.

Like this is good lol,

Wal-Mart is open but all the mom and pops are shut down is another horrible take, and yes I could go on...

Mom/pop shops already have a small chance of survival.
One of least-successful business practices.
Many restaurants/bars close within first two years, regardless of COVID.

And like I said, just because your particular business is booming, not everyone else will be.

Hotels, airlines, trains, buses, taxis, Ubers, Disney/Universal, concerts, ball games all will be effected. There is ZERO chance of a return to "normal" for them.

No way Broadway or Vegas or Branson bounce back easily/quickily from this.

So like I said, just because you are down doesn't mean everyone else is.
I can point out thousands/millions of employees who are doing well right now.

I work at logistics warehouse for an online seller.
Because of everyone staying at home and needing tech (laptops, webcams, ink, printers, mics, mouses, tablets/pads), we are doing booming business.

We'll be just fine if everything goes back to "normal"

But let's not act like the whole world is in a Great Depression.
It's not.

On the contrary, there is a 100% chance, the only question is how long it will take. As for the rest of your post,
what part of 40 million people out of work and rising do you fail to grasp?
And "businesses fail anyway" is just dumb. Glad your warehouse job is safe though.:eyeroll:

The whole country shut down schools when kids aren’t even vulnerable while New York chucked a bunch of infected people in nursing homes and y’all want these people to have more control over your life.

They can’t protect you. Sorry.

It's been less than 3 months.
The economy hasn't tanked.
Let's not pull the plug just yet.

Ireland has shut down pubs through August, yet we're pissed we can't go to Texas Roadhouse.

Masks have been a thing in China for a while, yet we act like our Bill of Rights/Declaration of Independence/Constitution are all being set on fire because, you know what, it might keep you safe in a once-in-a-lifetime WORLDWIDE pandemic (it's not about keeping kids safe, it's about a kid being a carrier to someone else).

The nursing homes did NOT create this, or else it would have happened long ago and multiple times. It got into multiple ones across the country somehow (probably by people who thought they were wealthy).

Japan has said, no mask, no transportation. End of story.

Travel has NOT been the same since 9/11. We have gotten used to a "new normal" but we aren't getting the ease of travel prior to 9/11 back. So yes, NEVER. It puts us at risk to go back to our innocent normal of before. Looking back, we should have seen how airplanes could have been taken advantage of. But we didn't do it because we personally didn't want to be inconvenienced.

I shudder to think that some of these keyboard warriors I read think they could have made it through the Spanish Flu or Great Depression.

I know several people who have lost their jobs or gotten furloughed and made MORE more money staying at home (stimulus check plus extra 600 plus unemployment, not to mention gas price savings, less gas used and saving money not eating out, paying for kids to go to mall/movies/bowling, etc.)

Getting back to normal as quickly as possible for YOU is important.
It's not likely getting back to normal for many other people.

Some of us see the bigger picture.

And I could lose my warehouse job and be just fine for quite a while.
I was fully prepared to. Was shocked when we were considered essential.
But people across the country keep ordering from us.
Our orders are way above previous years.

Might be bored out of my mind, but financially I'll be OK for quite a while.
And that's coming from an asthmatic diabetic.
The big man.... Mr. JT, did an interview with the Courier-Journal. I don't have a subscription to the CJ.... can somebody with a subscription post a working link or the text to the story.

Mr Sports man could you have made it threw the Great Depression or the Spanish flu. Could you hoe the corn or grow you food in a garden. This big picture you talk about who stars in it. About the Japanese government telling all their people to wear masks, you do know that is so they can’t spread their germs or in this case the virus. To me that is just being a considerate person. These wealthy people that went to these nursing homes and infected these people how did that happen? I agree there will be a new normal at least until they get some therapies that can help people when that get this virus and things definitely are going to be different. Plus a lot of laid off people are making more now then when they were working but that runs out in June. Then what you guys working going to give those people you know laid off half your money. It is a big decision for the people who think they are in control and everyone has their own point of view on this subject. This is a football forum so let us talk football if they get to play so we will just have to wait and see.

No worries though, UK will just get a bailout from the taxpayers, the same taxpayers who have been ordered to not work.

Imagine how many full academic hardship scholarships they could have provided to graduating Seniors from Appalachia that could have changed lives and families forever for what they wasted to build and then dis-assemble something that never got used?

These past few weeks are exhibit one as to why you should ALWAYS be suspicious of government. Placing your trust in government is absolutely guaranteed to burn you, & now you’re seeing it play out in live time. Government will NEVER, EVER, be your friend, & don’t ever forget it.

Not just government, but any group of people that gets control over ANYTHING, especially when they are paid with taxpayer dollars. *coughKHSAAcough*

Uncle Andy needs to foot the bill for this one with all that stimulus $ the state received.
Rumor starting float around KHSAA is entertaining the thought of flipping football with baseball. Fall baseball, Spring Football. Anyone hearing the same?

Hadn't thought of that, but that could be an excellent last resort position if it comes to that.
jetpilot Wrote:Hadn't thought of that, but that could be an excellent last resort position if it comes to that.

The idea of low attendance during this fall’s football games as result of pandemic precautions, would definitely be a burden on schools where football revenues help support other sports throughout the year. That’s What I’m hearing some of the reasoning behind it. The switch would also provide some distancing to continue warding off the virus. That’s assuming that any sport is allowed to play this fall. If it’s on the table some changes and guidelines need to be made quick, IMO.

I have not heard that.....but it’s a solid option in my opinion

I am hearing that “no fans” will mean no season for much if not all of the schools fielding football teams. That would decimate many of your club type sports as well.

From a purely selfish standpoint.....Belfry has a great chance of repeating in 3A. Hate to see them lose a chance at #8.
There will be a season.
Awesome sight today. Many footballs flying through the air in Pikeville KY
Youth sports to open back up June 15th per Dictator Andy.
This is very optimistic news!!

“Low touch” outside sports.
Hopefully things keep moving in the right direction.
Gus McCrae Wrote:That's what i'm seeing as well Patriot1. Both sides of the line is where we'll notice a difference. When you consider who's returning and what has already transferred in ( A 6' 3" 290 lb. DT with experience) then that will make an impact. This young man transferred in before covid19 hit and sent students home. Saw video of him in several games last season, and he just keeps going. Great footwork and uses his body well at los. He's a Jr. so he's got two seasons to excel. Couple him with the Salyer twins, then add Jr. Landon Hammock who was a starter last season and played some offense as well. Then returning starters at the Lb. positions, Taylor, Collins, and Caudill. Should be a solid D line for sure. Looking forward to see how the O line adds up this season too. Just hope Andy and the KHSAA lets these young men and women practice and play the game.

The Panthers will be great again this year. And I'd bet the farm that they repeat as 1A Champs. Maybe not as easy as they did this past year but it should be very similar.

But if the 6'3" 290lb DT transfer is the one I'm thinking of, the 290lbs is pretty accurate but the 6'3" measurement is off by 5-6 inches. Again, if it's the transfer I'm thinking about (there could be more than one DT transfer to Pikeville) the kid is more like 5'9" or 5'10" at best. And that's being generous. He's played at 2-3 different high schools already and Belfry was one of them. Not knocking the kid. I hope he does well and finally finds a place where he can stay put. Unless he's grown 6 inches in the past 2-3 months, his height is a little off.
