Well Boyd dismantled the cards two nights in a row to win Semi-State 8. Looks as if the cards were just over matched again tonight!

No surprise to me or any non-biased fan that realizes the gap between Boyd and every other 15th Region team(on a consitent basis)
Come on guys, you knew better

Yeah, I do want to say congrats to Sheldon Clark though, on a 27 win season and winning the 15th which was very competitive this season.

JC beat Boyd once this season w/ a freshmen on the hill and West Jessamine beat both BC and SC 4-3, so I honestly felt like we had a shot. With that said they kicked our azz and I'll be the first to say I was wrong, obviously. We ran into a buzzsaw, they could have scored 30+ if they wanted tonight. I tip my hat to Boyd and wish them luck @ state.

Here is the ADI article:
Clean sweep for Boyd
By ROCKY STANLEY â The Independent
Cannonsburg â If hitting is contagious, Boyd County is enjoying a full-blown epidemic.
Using Wednesdayâs five-inning, 10-0 romp as an appetizer, the Lions devoured Sheldon Clark 23-2 Thursday night to wrap up the Semi-State 8 championship at Addington Field.
âWe thought this would be a decent game, but we just exploded,ââ said No. 9 hitter Gatlin Barker, who went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs. âWeâre picking good pitches and driving them.ââ
That includes everybody and all fields.
Fourteen different players joined the hit parade and Boyd County collected 23 overall to overwhelm 27-game winner Sheldon Clark, a team coming off its first regional title.
Cardinals coach Mike Hall described Boyd Countyâs hitting display with one word.
âAwesome,ââ he said. âYou watch them when they have two strikes. They know the approach to take. Iâm very impressed with the way they put the bat on the ball.ââ
Sheldon Clark never retired designated hitter-leadoff man Kyle Potter in two games. He went 7-for-7, including four hits in the grand finale.
Potter, a 6-foot-3 senior who cranks out line drives on a regular basis, typified the Lionsâ approach.
âWe didnât let our guards down, even after the mercied them last night,ââ Potter said. âSheldon Clark has been a comeback team. We wanted to make sure that didnât happen.ââ
Boyd County certainly did that, bolting to a 20-0 lead in the fourth inning.
The final score would have been more lopsided, but Lions coach Ben Maynard began holding up his baserunners in the fourth inning.
The blowout sends Boyd County to Applebeeâs Park in Lexington for the second consecutive year. The Lions will meet Pleasure Ridge Park in a state quarterfinal game Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
âIf Boyd County plays like this, I think they can play with anybody in the state,ââ Hall said. âI just think they are real confident as a group. They look like they want to play in the State Tournament. I just hope my program can get to that level.ââ
Maynard spoke humbly about his teamâs dominating performance.
âI canât talk enough about how focused the kids are,ââ Maynard said. âThe coaches have all helped keep the attention there. The experience of last year (state semifinals) helped, and playing here at home didnât hurt.ââ
Maynard said the victory also removed a monkey from the programâs back.
âBoyd County had not won a sectional or semi-state here on their home field,ââ he said. âTo do it this way was just more than anybody could have expected.ââ
Tyler Gatrell drove in three runs with a single and double in the first two innings as the Lions quickly took control.
A dropped fly ball and two hit batsmen opened the door for three more runs in the third. Potter drilled a two-run single to make it 8-0 and set the stage for the Lionsâ monster fourth inning.
Boyd County sent 18 batters to the plate and 11 produced hits. Barker knocked in three runs with a pair of singles during the outburst, while Austin Hunter hit a two-run double and Casey Branham scored twice after tripling and singling.
âWeâre in a good groove,ââ said Barker, a sophomore. âWeâre getting runners on and moving them around.ââ
Boyd County (27-9) got five hits from its bench in the fifth inning, including Ryan Crispâs second RBI single of the game, to produce the final three runs.
Lions starter Greg Bowling pitched three innings and allowed only one hit. Bowling also singled twice and reached on an error.
Afterward, Boyd County players dumped a cooler of ice water on Maynard. While enjoying the moment, the Lionsâ second-year coach had sympathy for Sheldon Clark.
âThey are obviously a good team,ââ Maynard. âCoach Hall has done a wonderful job with their program and winning his first 15th Region title. They can keep their chins up.ââ

You know what the difference between a true winner and a loser is don't you? A winner, both wins and loses with class. A loser does neither with class.

Well I predicted Boyd would win it, BUT after JC beat Boyd and Paintsville should have beat them at Boyd during the season, I thought SC could play with them for at least a game. I guess the magic at SC wore off or Boyd cranked it up a notch.
But irregardless of whatever happened to SC at Boyd or whether they were arguably the best team in the 15th, it doesn't matter because they won the 15th and the other teams had their chance! Congrats SC on your first Regional title!
Congrats to the Lions and good luck at State!!

I don't know that. 33-2 combined in 2(5) Inning games. I never said they sucked, but I really think Boyd County could do that to them 9 out of 10 times if they're on top of their game.

Guess this settles the "Who's better, 15th or 16th Region" debate.
