Final from the Appalachian Wireless Arena.
The #9 Pikeville Panthers improve to 31-2 on the season & claim the school’s 12th Boys Basketball Regional Crown.
Outside of a small stretch in the 2nd, it was total domination from PHS.
Congratulations to Keian Worrix on being named the 15th Region Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
For the first time in school history, the Boys & Girls of Pike High are the 15th Region Champions in the same year.
Pikeville will face the 13th Region Champion, North Laurel, in the Sweet 16 at Rupp Arena on Wednesday at 8:30. HAIL PIKEVILLE!

I will say this, I really enjoy watching the Rigdon kid play. He’s a competitor. Very skilled kid too, honestly I watch him and think man he would be a great receiver. As for the Stewart kid, if he will really work his tail off on his speed and quickness then he can be a very good player. For now, he’s just too slow. If he can get a three off, he’s money.
As for Pikeville, big congrats to KW on winning that elusive regional title and on the MVP. Also huge defensive effort from Hall the entire tourney. Doesn’t always happen but this year the best team won. They will have their hands full with Sheppard and company but should be fun to watch.

Looking forward to seeing what Pikeville defense can do with Sheppard. Should be a good game.

Pikevilles defense totally shut down PC and nearly pitched a shut out in the first quarter. On to Rupp! HAIL PIKEVILLE!!!

Hall from Pikeville proved he is the best on ball defender in the Region. Holding Dingess to only 13 and Du’Toit to only 5. Excellent two game performance. Pikeville gets at you Defensively and they can score in bunches. Congrats Panthers

I think a lot will depend on the referees. Hall is a physical defender. If the refs let them play, then it could be a very fun matchup to watch. If the refs want to be whistle happy then holding Sheppard to less than 15 will be a daunting task.

If Reed scores less than 15 I will eat a Pikeville hat.

Congrats to the Panthers. Once the Bobcats were eliminated, I became a Panther fan.

It’s not going to happen but the only way Sheppard gets held to 15 is if they double team him all night and then he will end up with 15-20 assists.

Good win by the panthers. Comes to no surprise as they always get all of the good players from every other team in the region. Excited to see them battle at rupp with fellow recruited teams.

Laithan won’t shut down Sheppard like he did Dingess and Detoit…But he’s gonna turn some heads with how well he does against him.

I must have missed a bunch of years where they dominated everyone with all of these players from other schools.

^I've got a old Cincinnati Reds hat you can eat, the 20+ years of sweat should provide a nice aftertaste and plus I'm done with Reds for a few years.
