Not looking good for my pick so far. GRC leads 14-3.
GRC has a lot of firepower. They're going to be a very tough out for anyone.
GRC is beating North Laurel to a lot of 50/50 rebounds.
18-5 after 1, Cards lead.
North Laurel can't keep giving so many second chances.
27-20 with just over 1 minute remaining in Q2. Sheppard having a much better night from the floor than he did last season.

29-21 at the half. North Laurel got some energy from the Sheppard steal and dunk. They've still got a long way to go against a great team. Morton and Parrish looking great for the Cards so far tonight.
Either of these teams are capable of beating plenty of the teams we've seen so far. Tough draw for both of them. Clark County is stronger than I expected them to be.

Shepherd is going to need help. He has 18 of their 21 points. His teammates are missing shots in the lane.

I think North would settle for them just snagging some defensive rebounds.
GRC takes a timeout. Looks like they were confused by North Laurel's zone.
I think this one's over. GRC has too much of an advantage and looks like they won't mind taking the air out of the ball if needed.
44-28, GRC leads after a Hampton three.
Game, set, match.
I don't know that there's another team in the field who beats George Rogers Clark if they play their game the way they have so far tonight.
53-38, GRC leads after 3.
57-47, North Laurel trails but they'll have the ball. Just under four minutes remaining in regulation.

About what everyone figured

North Laurel's inability to rebound, especially on the defensive end, has been a huge difference in this one.

For sure, that’s the teams that advance usually in the first round. The team that controls the boards and doesn’t settle for jump shots early. Doesn’t hurt to be athletic at all 5 positions also.

I didn’t see anyone trying to rebound much for NL. Chadwell was under the goal but he wasn’t nearly athletic enough to be a difference maker in this game. GRC played well and NL was a one man show.

Just got out of Rupp 25 minutes ago, Great atmosphere with 14,000 plus fans for a high school Sweet 16 game. Obviously GRC controlled the game in first half 29-21 but out rebounding North 22-10 in first half wasn’t what North needed. GRC blows it out in 3rd quarter or North Wins this game. Kudos to Reed Sheppard as he played with such purpose and passion. UK definitely getting a good one. Reed had a better game this year on Rupp floor than last year in my opinion. Can’t wait to watch him at UK next year. Two straight first round exits from Sweet 16 for North was unexpected as I Had North making to final four this year. North had a great run with Reed Sheppard and the 13th Region was well represented. I think the Corbin Redhounds will get a chance to play at Rupp next year as the 13th Region Champions. Congratulations North on a great season..
