Owensboro catholic fan base.

This has to be the worst and rudest fan base I have ever been witness to. It is not just cheering for  their team it is a problem that I don’t know why the KHSAA or the school administration doesn’t step in and do something. You have students and adults lined the end zones with open Beer cans hanging into the field of play screaming at the kids things you would hear at a NFL game. I am all about cheering for your team but that crosses the line. I am really surprised this has not turned physical with all the alcohol . It nearly did after the game last night with their fans on the field after the game.

Alcohol has no place in high school sports and to use your religion as an excuse to make it ok is….well we all know what it is. The KHSAA needs to step in for sure

We sat with them in the state final last year and I did not think it was anything bad? But being at someone's home may be different, I wasn't there so I don't know. I find every crowd has 1 or 2 people that say things to player that needs to stop, and I would love all schools to just have a couple of people to watch the stands, or the fences and escort anyone out that has insults for specific individual players, or even team insults if they are personal and over the top. Kids don't get paid, and a teenager should not be forced to hear this stuff, ever. I have found basketball to be horrible and things let get out of hand.

It wasn’t just 1 or 2 it was probably like between 50-75 I don’t know how they get buy with it all standing leaned up against the fence in each end zone with their arms propped up on top of the fence holding and drinking beer out of the can not even out of a cup not even trying to hide it I don’t know if it’s something to do with is being a shared field with Kentucky Wesleyan they let it go or what but I have drunk as much Beer as anybody but damn there is a time and place even if they drinking and just watching the game it but to drink and heckle the players like it’s a fraternity at a college all it’s gonna take is the right team to come in there looking for trouble and it could get ugly.

Wow! I don't liike that at all. My buddy played against Lexington Catholic the first year they had a team and he said it was a culture shock us getting up there and beer trucks were selling beer, etc.. I'm not sure they do that in 2024, but back in the early 90s he said they did. We are 1-0 against them. lol

As I’ve said before, EVERY TEAM has them, but IMO Owensboro catholic, Corbin, Lexington Christian and even my own team, Mayfield need to take a closer look at some of their fans actions.

"using your religion as an excuse" is one of the most ignorant things I have ever read on here and that's saying a lot smh

I missed the memo from the Vatican on booze at high school sporting events as well.

Why in the hell are we surprised by this? They have ties to the world's largest criminal enterprise.  Sounds like, maybe only Johnson Central fans could rival these hoodlums for bad behavior. Did the drunken Catholic fans boo a severely youngster lying on the field, too?

We had a very similar experience when Somerset played Covington Holy Cross in the 2011 semi-finals, that was played at Newport's Stadium. You had a bunch of drunks right behind the Somerset bench by the fence. They called it the beer garden. If the police wouldn't have finally gotten there it would have been really, really ugly for the drunks. They were outnumbered about 10-1.

Let me tell every one on this app, i can name 5-6 fan bases where alcohol is the most common beverage at half time for a lot of the fans. It is not appropriate, period. I think if the allegations of open containers at a high school game is absurd. Private, public, catholic, atheist regardless these are kids events. We can yell at refs and lose our minds sober.

But especially in the mountains, everyone should know a few rough fans from every school who might have a glass bottle in the truck.

I cannot believe the KHSAA hasn't gone to Mayfield and demanded they get their fans under control or threaten suspension. Drunkest most intentionally positioned group of fans in kentucky high school football. The police cannot contain the chaos.  We went their last year and it was egregious

We've never really felt Owensboro was that bad, but we also never thought they could beat us.

our Beechwood community has some younger supporters/fans that were chirping at LCA players after the game was over and my wife was embarrassed, but I also know a lot of our fans think LCA is entitled.  Guess it's the christian school thing.  Feels about cov cath are similar, but they humbled us this year.

We've only played LCA at Commonwealth and the crowd is not really a factor there.

Really? You're going to have light of that? Did you even think about that before you posted it? I hope not. It would make you look even worse.
