So what all tournaments are local teams playing in after Christmas? Any tournaments close by or further away.

Also, Merry Christmas to everyone!

Floyd Central, Hazard, and Pikeville will be in TN. Which team will come out the best. IMO:
1. Hazard
2. Pikeville
3. FC

AIT First Round Schedule (starts Friday Dec 27)

Ashland vs Walton-Verona
Harlan Co vs Lloyd Memorial
Danville Christian vs Russell
Highlands vs Fleming Co

Very solid field this year, top to bottom. I wouldn’t be too shocked to see half the field win their respective regions. HC/LM should be the best 1st round matchup, IMO. I had high hopes for Ashland’s state championship chances all off-season & leading up to the KOTB. And, they absolutely have a roster that is capable of a FF or championship run, IMO. But, I think they are severely lacking on the sidelines & that will be their downfall.

I have zero confidence that they can win close games against good teams. I don’t want to go in on a HS coach but I’m definitely nowhere near as impressed with him as most seem to be. Way too many “basketball 101” gaffes & highly questionable rotational decisions to be taken seriously when it matters. Seems to panic in clutch situations. And, it’s a shame bc this team is extremely talented & deep (at full strength) & could bring some real credibility back to the 16th region. I sincerely hope I’m proven wrong & he makes me look like a moron. But, I’m not holding my breath.

Poor Russell, I don't see this going well for them. Hope it makes them better at least

Man, the CFIT was must watch in the 80's and 90's. Hate seeing it in the state that it's in. The probable Bell-Corbin final should be good, but the whole thing is a mere shell of what it used to be.

Campbell County (TN) when they had the Marlow brothers brought all of Lafollette and Jacksboro to follow that great team, the state runner-up team from Wayne County with Jimmy John Owens, some really good Dorman and Spartanburg teams from South Carolina, a loaded Warren Central team, and so many others from that stretch of around 85 to 95. Miss those days.

Hazard beat Louisville Moore today 89-60 and advances to championship game. Pikeville was in the other semifinal but don't know if they won their game.

In Gatlinburg Pikeville and Hazard are in same bracket. Hazard will move to championship game, and Pikeville will play in consolation game. Would have been fun to see them matchup in championship game.

How would the hypothetical Pikeville vs Hazard matchup go?
#21
Hazard by atleast 15 maybe more would be my guess.

Jenkins lost their 1st game of the season today in Orlando.

Letcher plays Bath co at 9 tonight at bath in their tournament.

Dorman SC had titus shelton who played at etsu with ryan wilson who played HS for williamsburg. Also, madisonville hs in tenn played in it and had a guy andy pennington that played at etsu with those two. Alvin simms who played at louisville played in CFIT with paris hs. I remember he had 17 points and 4 dunks in the 1st qtr against a billy hicks lead corbin team. Corbin would go on to win that game. Last year, knoxville cath had deondre lindsay who now plays at oak hill and is being recruited by the big D1 schools.

You were reading my mind , Dodger. I was getting ready to post what you did. CFIT used to be a Top 5 holiday tourney in the state. Too bad, the powers that be have let it go to the shitter.  What about those good Dixie teams? Didn't they win it, like, two or three years in a row?  From a loaded Knoxville Catholic team  and an undefeated and top ranked John Hardin to Richmond Model and Lynn Camp. Inexcusable. Dorman had some really fine teams come to Corbin. We always had some good squads from South Carolina come to town. Now we get Lynn Camp from cross town. What's up, Tony P.

Have mercy! You like watching basketball!!!  Smile

Who do you think is the top 3 players to ever participate in the CFIT?
#26
Btw, Benny Hinkle(of Hinkle Printing) and Billy Hicks(of KHSAA Hall of Fame) co-founded the CFIT. When Benny
died a few years ago it appears as though the tourney died with him. Benny was instrumental in getting a lot of the out-of state teams to come in and play in the CFIT. We even had a team from San Diego one year. Now, it's Lynn Camp, Model, and Somerset. Damn shame!
