If so, that's pretty impressive for a really young BL squad.

Dang I'm glad BL isn't in Class A. If they are beating the preseason Class A state champs in 7 on 7 Pikeville would be ranked 4th in their district and be out of the Class A top 10...

And he goes to his go to when he has no argument. WEAK. Hope they don’t misspell Raceland on that trophy this year!

You know I like you but there is no argument for Raceland vs Pikeville and you know it as well as anyone.
Now back to trolling...If they do misspell Raceland on the RU trophy none of their fans will notice...

Week 3 won’t get here quick enough for you guys…

No argument this year! I’ll agree with that statement. And the RU trophy isn’t gold. Trust me I know!

10/3 is good one. But my eyes are on 9/19 before that.

With Hazards additions, they will be a lot more stout upfront. It’s definitely peaked my interest in how these games play out within that district as well as the regular season match ups between Raceland/Pikeville (as if that one needed anything to peak anyone’s interest) and the Raceland/Hazard game. We all saw how the RPI can affect things. So those games now have some real implications. Personally, I hope it creates some really good small school football. It was nice seeing competitive games in the semis and finals last year.
Rams got a lot to work on in the passing game. Gotta get cleaner. This is the first year that we seem to be the hunted. Practice intensity will have to be turned up imo. Not worried or concerned, but we can’t be complacent and rest on the fact that we return a lot.

I’m not sure if this has ever been discussed in a Raceland thread, but there is competition at kicker. Special teams is always a question mark in HS sports. Last year the punting game for Raceland was really good, especially in the regional and semi final games. Keeping teams pinned deep in their territory is crucial, especially if your offense is sputtering. Waller had around a 40 yard leg with punts, finished 85% on PATs, and I believe had a long of around 35 and went 2/4 for FGs on the season.
This year, another kicker is in the mix via the portal. But, from what I am hearing he may have to play JV and sit out for varsity this year due to his current school not signing off on the transfer (or however all that works to facilitate instant eligibility). Won’t release a name or school, but he just kind of showed up one day. Waller is a solid kicker so we weren’t really in need, but he is a welcomed asset.
So far looks to have a legit 40-45 yard FG range and is extremely accurate from inside the 30. His punting last night impressed me. Averaging around 45-50 yards a punt and a long of around 60. If he is ruled eligible it will be a big factor. While the best player should play, I really don’t like having our QB1 on the field in special teams, especially punts and kick offs.

I agree definitely don’t want him taking chances on getting injured.
Who are other quarterbacks getting reps for this upcoming season?

Right now just Waller and a Freshman, Brayden King.
Ison and Arnette both have experience and ability as well if needed.

Not necessarily true. First game against Ashland in that 7v7 Raceland had 3 TD, Ashland had 1. Both teams threw an INT.
Second game against Ashland, Raceland had 3 TD, Ashland had 1 and Ashland threw an INT,
Raceland lost both games to Betsy Layne, but they were both close. I think one was 4-2 and the other 3-2. Ashalnd lost both games to Betsy Layne. But this just goes to show you what a joke 7v7 is...if anyone on this board thinks BL beats Ashland or Raceland in a real football game, they need their head examined.
Also remember, Raceland subs every 2-4 plays. Corners sub every 2, safeties every 4. On offense, every 2-4 plays is a switch. It's hard to gauge. We got almost 60 kids, and our coaches aren't out here playing to win in 7v7, they are giving reps.

^^^that was my take on it as well. You really don’t have any clue what we will look like until week 1. Even in the Belfry scrimmage we will move kids around, platoon, etc. Mike is very adamant on getting as many looks at kids in as many ways possible. What I have learned over the years is the only take away you can get from a 7v7 is how the team competed as a unit and see how much trust they have in one another. And FWIW, how BL was able to beat either team was very odd. Idk if I have ever seen a 7v7 that a team would face 4th and score so many times after 2 or 3 consecutive incompletions and throw up a hail merry and their kid come down with it.
That being said, there was definitely things that got a little exposed for our passing game and secondary which is why you do these things. To say Raceland struggled is someone grasping at straws.

I agree 7 on 7 is just to get timing with receivers and quarterback plus his timing on getting rid of the ball plus going through his reads but I for one ( even though I throw out a lot of crap sometimes) think this be Racelands year but I thought that about Pikeville last year and I will be pulling for Pikeville but with Raceland having everything back and Hazard has a lot returning it’s going to be a up hill battle for Pikeville with the young players they are going to have to play

Yes Raceland returns "the house" but "the house" lost 5 games last year, including to Pikeville. Hazard was horrible until last year and mediocre at best last year.
I ain't scared. Maybe Pikeville is barely in Class A top 10. I will believe it and admit it when I see it.
Did you go to Pikeville 7 on 7 P1?
