WYMT All-Mountain Second Team
#1
It was another great season of football in the mountains with several stand out performances from the usual suspects, plus a couple of great seasons by some newcomers. It was a tough job to sift through a season's worth of stats and highlights to come up with the best of the season, but we will try and give a true representation of the entire year.

For our Second Team Awards, we start with the quarterback position once again. Zach Lewis from Clay County gets the nod here. The sophomore signal caller led a West Coast offense that sliced up opposing defenses with precision passing and good decision making. Zach completed 67 percent of his passes for over 35 hundred yards and 30 touchdowns while only throwing 7 picks. Zach has pinpoint accuracy and good decision making skills that should serve him well over his next two years. Even though it's early in his career, right now he is on pace to break Tim Couch's career passing records.

if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write('');if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']){ document.write(plpm['Mid-Story Ad']);} else { if(self['plurp'] && plurp['97']){} else {document.write(''); } }if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document.write(''); We now check out our Second Team Running Backs. The first one to take a look at is Lynn Camp's Joe Roskopf. The junior tailback was a true workhorse carrying 312 times for 2112 yards and 19 Td's, all of that was in 10 games. Roskopf was always ready to carry the ball, including a game where he registered 40 carries and over 400 yards earlier this season. Congratulations to Joe Roskopf.

Our other running back on the Second Team is Clay County's Byron Bragg. The senior running back proved that he could do it all. He carried 166 times for over 1200 yards and 20 touchdowns and he was a dangerous threat receiving out of the backfield. He caught quite a few balls and turned them into 4 touchdowns, giving him 24 total TD's on the season. His versatility made a very valuable member of the Tigers West Coast offense.

We keep this thing moving by checking out the Second Team Full Back and he comes to us from a school over in Pulaski County. Southwestern's Ryan Smart makes it on the Second Team as our Fullback. He had a great season powering his way to 1272 yards and 15 TD's. He filled in with a couple of huge games after Wess Hampton went down hurt, including a 300 yarder in the playoffs. Smart is a very physical runner who usually took more than one guy to bring him down.

We move on now to the wide receivers. It was tough to narrow it down to three, but we have done just that. The first wide receiver that we'll highlight is South Laurel's Terry Bingham. The 6-1 wide out had a great senior season, snagging 56 passes for 935 yards and 9 TD's. That is the third highest TD reception total in the mountains. Bingham did an excellent of getting open and providing a target that any quarterback could feel comfortable throwing to.

Our second wide out on the Second Team is Clay County's Matt Dobbs. Dobbs was an excellent go to target hauling in 70 catches. That is tied for second most in the mountains. Dobbs was another valuable piece in the West Coast offense of Clay County. The 6-4 junior returns next year to team up with Zach Lewis for what could be an exceptional senior season.

Our third receiver on the Second Team is Hazard's Colby Hoskins. The senior showed sure hands nabbing 60 passes for 851 yards and 6 TD's. He ran crisp routes and showed a great ability to adjust. He even hauled in a couple of tipped passes. He shows great concentration and plays with a big heart and a lot of confidence.

Now it's time to take a look at another great offensive line unit.

The Johnson Central Golden Eagles are our Second Team All-Mountain Offensive Line Unit. It's hard to argue with a group that opened up holes for a team that rushed for 4445 yards and over 50 touchdowns on the season. Tackles Jarrod Willis and Coty Conley did a great job sealing off the end allowing Shawn Grim to get to the outside on the sweep. Guards Ryan Baldwin and Ethan Ward opened up holes up the middle for Full Back Blake Johnson and a couple of guys saw a lot of time at center, that being Sean Ousley and Wes Preston. Toss in Blocking Tight End Nathaniel Dials and you've got a dominate unit.

It is now time to check out the special position that we created specifically for this team. It is our All-Mountain Second Team Utility Player. Beckham Herald of Breathitt County takes home this award. He did it all. He rushed 190 times for 1161 yards and 18 TD's while catching 20 passes for 204 yards and two more touchdowns. On defense, Herald was also a standout. He had 73 tackles to go along with his 6 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Beckham Herald did a lot of everything.

Moving right along, we reveal our Second Team Kicker. John Wright Polk of Somerset is our Second Team Kicker. He was almost automatic on extra points putting through 47 of 48 tries. On field goals, he was 3 of 8, but attempted several long ones. He has a strong leg and drilled a 45 yarder on the season
