AP is a joke

To be honest, both are jokes. Some great players are recognized, some players with big hype but not as deserving talent get recognized, and then there are some players with no hype who deserve the recognition and don't receive it. It's the same with both polls. Congrats to ANY kids that could make either list. It's just nearly impossible to accurately rate all the players on every team in the state by the very few people who get to vote in each poll.

Because the AP is flat out ridiculous, and the CJ is the standard to go by.
The CJ all-state team is still the most respected team in the state and I agree with 99% of the names on the list.
Who would you take off the team, and who would you replace them with?

For one, I would have Shawn Grimm on atleast 2nd team. You're talkin about a kid who had over 2,000 yards rushing, over 20 TD's, dominated EVERY team he faced including 3A State Champs Covington Catholic. Not to mention how many return yards and TD's, receivin yards and TD's. How is he not better than honorable mention.

In my opinion the CJ is flat out ridiculous, there are several deserving players in Eastern and Southeastern Ky that the CJ has ignored. I guess since the CJ sells so few papers in the Southeastern part of the state that they concentrate more in their own back yard, where's it's beneficial to the bottom line $$$$$$

Nice research Guru and thank you. Usually when an EKY player puts up huge numbers they get overlooked because of the weak competition, but that is not the case with Grimm. I mean he put up over 200 against Cov Cath (3A State Champion) in the State Semi's for cryin out loud. He was only held under 100 yards ONCE this year and that was in a rematch game against a team that knew EVERY play JC was gonna run. I just think it's a joke, always have.

Beaumont also played the top teams in the state every single week, and played in a very recognizable part of the state where he got a lot of coverage (Mr. Football award doesn't hurt and neither does signing to play at U of L). Clark played a few good teams but most of his stuff was in only 1 half of a football game (because they play bad teams but none the less it was in the 1st half) and he went to the big stage twice in 2 seasons and performed very well there. Plus both were seniors.
Grims time will come.

The coaches across the state (Matney, Haywood, Holcomb, etc.) all vote on the CJ all-state team.
How can it be biased towards one or two different parts of the state?
This list is the most accurate by far...maybe Grim should have been more that honorable mention, maybe he shouldn't have. I've seen him play and I think he is a nice back. But I can't think of one person on that list he should have been in front of for all-state.

I believe this poll is voted on by coaches.
The AP Poll is dominated by Northern Ky, Central Ky, Western Ky and Louisville area newspaper sportswriters.
This is "The Real All-State Team. "
