Who goes to the carpet next year Hazard or Pikeville?
#1
Hazard and Pikeville will be in different districts for this upcoming year. Hazard has to beat lynn camp, williamsburg, and harlan. Pikeville will have to beat teams like paintsville and raceland....these teams will more than likely meet in the semifinals....who goes and who goes home???
#2
Neither!...Every year people in class A around the mountains think they are going to have a good team. Don't get me wrong they usually do in most cases but Class A mountains can't compete with New Cath, Beechwood, LCA, and other northern school. State Semi's is all it is going to be for many years to come!
#3
a ...... those teams will be on the other side of the bracket so really it will more than likely be hazard or pikeville in the state finals

Well NewCath is going to 2a and Beechwood has to get by Mayfield in the new bracket. Pikeville will represent the mountains in Louisville next year.

Pikeville has 25 seniors coming back next year if I'm not mistaken. They will get to Louisville next year.

Im going with hazard for two reasons...the first is that hazard is only losing 3 players on defense(a safety, d-end, and a Corner-all replaced) and 5 on offense(4 lineman-replaced, and Colby hoskins) so they have almost the same team as last year!!! which leads me to reason #2 the fact that they already beat Pikeville in Round 2 of the playoffs this year with basically this team. and hazard's jv also beat Pikeville's jv..and those are the players stepping up...and I also believe hazard wants it more than the panthers do.:1:

If it came down to Hazard or Pikeville i would say Pikeville but in my opinion i dont think either one will make it

Next time the Panthers and Bulldogs line up well see who wants it more. Pikeville was guilty of overlooking Hazard in the playoff game after the smackdown the Panthers laid on the Bulldogs 3 weeks earlier. Hazard came out ready and Pikeville didnt that night. I hope they both make it to region cause it will be a dandy but make no mistake Pikeville will win.

Hazard loses 3 on D and 5 on O.
Pikeville loses 3 on D and 3 on O. From a team that smoked Hazard earlier then overlokked them when it counted. Trust me the overlooking is done at Pikeville. I can't wait to Hazard again. But I'm not worried about Hazard I'm ready for Holy Cross (Louisville) in the PCB.

Plus, from the film... It looks like some bad play calling late in the game.

You need to look at other teams besides Hazard and Pikeville. Lexington Christian and Raceland will be good. Lynn Camp and Campbellsville will also.
#12
Pikeville
#13
hazard

man please, it was AT pikeville, why would ref's that are there try to cheat against the home team? be real..

No man... I wasn't talking about the ref's, I was refering to Pikeville's coach. He could have easily won the game if he would have kicked the field goal on 4th down instead of calling a halfback pass and getting it intercepted. But that is in the past and this thread is about who will be going next year. So I'm still gonna have to say Pikeville.

i agree that hazard and pikeville will have to get pass raceland,,, but mayfield and beechwood are on the other side

I think we will see who wants it more...and I think it was the other way around for that game. Hazard overlooked Pikeville in the regular season...which doesnt matter newayz bcuz it is the playoffs that count....and then we were actually ready to play in round 2 of the playoffs. Say what you want but Pikeville was ready for that 2nd round game....they were just as good or better then than the first time we played them. But that is in the past and its a new season...so regardless of this past season...we'll see what happens to pikeville next year...

I mean if you are asking who will win in a game between Hazard and Pikeville I think Hazard will win rather easy. Pikeville lost too much....Harmon and the Honakers can be the greatest athletes in the world but when you have no line you will fail.

Pikeville returns 3-4 O-linemen and 2 of it's D-linmen. How is that losing to much up front. You people on here have lost your minds.
LCA is going to be very good as well. Either team will have to get by them and Raceland.
#20
I'll say Pikeville if it came down between the two.

Lost our minds??? These are facts man....YOU LOST YOUR BEST LINEMAN!!! It dont matter how many that you lost!!! Did you or did you not loose Casey Rowe #72(one of the best lineman I have played against), Brad Bryant#50(another of your great lineman), Tibbs(another good lineman), and Ryan Shurtliffe???? Yea, in my opinion that is LOSING A LOT, I dont think we have lost our minds you have!!! Smile
#22
Pikeville
#23
Neither....sf will upset one of these teams next year..
#24
South Floyd??? I would wear a south floyd jersey to EVERY playoff game if they upset hazard or pikeville in the playoffs...I swear I would root for yall every game! SF to State 07'!!!!

Shurtleff was hurt for the last half of the season and we had a replacment. Casey Rowe played sparingly on offense.
Brad Bryant did play both ways all the time.
Tibbs wasn't the same after his knee injury and never got back to starting every down.
Clay Elliott started every game.
Justin Walker started every game.
Trey Branham started the last half of the season.
JD McCoy played every game as a blocking back/extra lineman.
Who has lost their minds? We return what you lost.
#26
If Hazard makes it that far (which I doubt), they will get crushed by Pikeville.
#27
casey rowe, brad bryant, and all of those players made the difference with ur running game and rushin defense and thats all there is to it....without them harmon, the honaker twins and pikeville overall wouldnt of had as good of a season as they did...no way
#28
If they do meet, I think hazard whould win.
#29
All this "make it to the carpet" crap is EXACTLY why Pikeville was watching someone else in the 3rd round last year.

In the past, it made sense for Pikeville to think a lot about making it to Louisville. But things were different then.

Pikeville is NO LONGER the "Pike County All-Star" team like in the 80s. The rules are now set up JUST so they cannot get the best players in the county like back then. So, they can't win deep in the playoffs anymore JUST because their talent (especially big-kids) is heads and shoulders above everyone on this end of the state.

Now, they have to over-achieve and realize they are NOT guaranteed the 3rd or 4th round. They have to have AVERAGE kids work hard to become ABOVE-AVERAGE.

And then, above all, in the games, they have to EXECUTE better than the other team, regardless of who they are. They have to do things EXACTLY the way they're designed, they have to line up correctly on defense, they have to TACKLE when they get there (not overrun trying to "make the big hit" like time after time last year).

And most of all, they have to quit thinking 14 weeks in advance.

I like what Train said earlier, forget about the "carpet," think ONLY about the NEXT game!

And by the way, I think I've heard Pikeville would have to play LCA or Raceland just to get to a game against Hazard next year.

If you couldn't beat Hazard this year, why in the WORLD would you look past LCA or Raceland?
