Question for someone with knowledge of Jeeps and/or installing CD players
#1
I have a CD player that I really want to install in my 1996 Jeep Cherokee. It's a newer CD player with an AUX jack, so I can hook up the iPod.

However, I ran across a problem when trying to install it. I cannot remove the panelling from the front dash. I can physically get it to pop off, but I can't manuever it around the steering wheel.

As far as I can tell, the only way to get this off is to cut it or break it.

If needed, let me know and I'll submit some pictures of the dilemma. I'd really rather not pay someone to hook up a CD player that I can wire myself.

I have a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The steering wheel isnt in the way on mine. But just a suggestion, try removing the steering wheel instead of cutting the plastic. Should be just a few screws and a nut holding it on. But then again, you will need a puller. Almost any garage or body shop should let ya borrow one. If not, they are only like 10 bucks for a cheap one.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.

I put one in my '01 Cheerokee, all I did was pop off the panel surrounding the cd player and air conditioner controls.

Well I finally got the paneling off last night, but only to realize that I had a wiring kit for '97 Jeeps and up.

I haven't been able to find one for a '96
