It is written: " 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.' "

I will say this. The team was trailing 28-0 late in the 2nd half. and fought there way back to a batted ball at the goal line with no time on the clock that would have gave them the chance to tie it. They played with alot of heart, more then any team i have seen in the last 7 years. Lets regroup and get then Pirates next week.

A great comeback that fell just a little short. Our second touchdown to Chandler Sheppard was as exciting a pass play that I have seen in quite awhile.Complete turnaround in 2nd half.Playing with more emotion really lifted the teams play.Feel bad for the players but proud of the team!!!

I thought the dawgs looked horrible in the first half. They came out of it though and started playing a lot better. They showed that they will be able to hang around for the whole game this year and thats a big improvement from last year. I thought the o-line did a good job giving Boone some time. I think on defense we need some tackling drills in practice or something. A lot of missed tackles in the first half. Tyler Hinton had a great game and I think Shepherd is going to be something to watch this year. All in all, it was a good game and I think the boys should keep their heads up. They didn't give up and showed a lot of heart. I'm very proud of all of them.

Ok here is my look on things from last night.
The first thing I seen was on the opening drive and most of the night for that, we went back to old school Dawgs football and just shut the door on the run. if it wasnt for a couple of lucky plays like the big catch that put them inside the 20 when 2 of our guys tipped the ball and it feel right into the hands of there WR. ( Like the UK game several years ago lol) Then that would have changed some things. They played with heart passion and fire. We had kids stepping up all night that wouldnt have been in there probably if it wasnt for some bumps and bruises.
Now on the offense side of the ball what type of better clutch WR is there in the state then Acie Waller. He stepped up and made clutch catch after clutch catch in the 2nd half. And Coty Roberts your cant say enough about this young man, he cont to step up game after game.
What can we say about Tim Cantrell stepped up and played his Ass off last time. Tyler Hinton made play after play of the D and did a fine job on the O Line. Mark Fitzpatrick played a great game as well made two huge passes and had a couple of catches. Chandler Shepard wow he will be something to watch over the next couple of years. Had a couple of good kick returns and TD catch and a nice completion late in the game when we needed it. Boone Goldsmith what a job he did running the offense. Made great throws all night with the exception of the one int.
I think this team will be fine this year As the season grows the team will do nothing but get better.

Big mistake Dogs, you let everyone know what you can do (late in the game). Now play that way for 3 more quarters. Good Luck!

The fans were great last night. They were really supportive to the boys on the field. Got loud and reminded me of the Dawg Pound of Old. I think that Coal Grove feels really lucky to get of there last night. Good luck to the dawgs next week.

Coach Nighswander was at the game? That is great. I remember him very well, he was coached Louisa after the Luke Varney passed away then was at Lawrene County I believe just for their first year there then he left. Nighswander played in the NFL briefly as a Punter for the Buffalo Bills.

Until LC gets another coaching staff, they had better be prepared for disappointment. Let's bring back Chuke.
08-26-2007, 03:54 PM
OH PLEASE!!!!! Why would LC ever consider such a stupid thing???
08-26-2007, 03:55 PM
Why would LC even consider that?? What a joke!

Red raider nation you know your stuff.Coach Nighswander was actually a long snapper and started for the bills for one season. The very next season he is coaching us at Louisa.Knew the game of football as well as anyone who ever coached here.Lou Manns our other coach that year was the punter for Morehead and has been offensive coordinator at Ironton for 20 plus years.Larry Bryant was also a Louisa coach that year along with all american wrestler at morehead coach keefe.Nighswander is a lawyer now.Where did you play in 77?

HAHAHAHAHAH>>>....... Are you serious........ Oh man....... If memory serves me well, Chuke's teams were the best in LC history....... When I played there, we won the district 3 times!...... We went to the state semi-finals twice!......... I'd love..... absolutely LOVE to see this team do that....... We'll see what happens this friday, i guess......

Goldsmith won the district twice and went to state semi-finals once all this in less time than Chuke was Head Coach. I honestly believe that in 1990 if Lawrence County hadn't set out of the playoffs they would have made a serious run at the state if not win it. That team was 11-0 had the best defense in the state that year. Billy won big games , Chuke won games he was suppose to win but NEVER a Big game outside of Breathitt which I think was won by our defense and Defensive coach Phillip Ratliff.
