Prestonsburg 70 Morgan County 6
#1
Final!

Prestonsburg scores 28 in the 1st quarter and kept it going throughout the game... Allen Craynon tied the Prestonsburg touchdown record tonight, and he added three to the list after tonight. Seth Setser finished with two touchdowns and Matt Blevins also ran one in and returned a interception for a touchdown. Prestonsburg went into the half, 49-00. Micheal Burchett had another impressive performance and it finally seems as if the offense is comfortable with him a quarterback. Congrats Blackcats!

That was about as expected. Morgan has went down hill since Coach Wood left.

Last weeks loss must have really woke them up.

Congrats Pburg, keep it rollin.

I know that this has been brought up before, but does it not seem that Prestonsburg always runs up the score on weaker opponents? It is necessary to score 70 in a game? And yes there are ways to stop from scoring so much...ever heard of a Field Goal?

Adams Middle School could beat Morgan County. And who kicks a FG on 1st and 10 when the freshmen and sophomores (the FUTURE) are in the game gettin some experience.

Some teams and coaches would. It just shows a little class that is all. Yes, they might be the future, but if this team is so bad then I would think that the JV games are better practice for the future Blackcats.

Prestonsburg's varsity played the whole first half, and they played one series in the second half. So what do you do kneel the ball everytime you get it. Prestonsburg freshman had Morgan's varsity at a 3rd & 12 at one point... So theres not much you can do when your team is focused and in rhythm.

Congrats Prestonsburg

There's not one coach in the state of Kentucky that would just kick FG's the whole second half. First off, the coach would get blasted for tyrin to get the kicker stats like that, second it would just be stupid to do that. The last part of your post makes no sense at all. What are they suppose to do, just lay down. I know when I was a freshman and we got in with a big lead, we wanted to score. That brings up a good, TRUE story. My freshman year we were beatin Neon by 4 TD's in the 4th and coach put us in. Our RB fumbled 3 possessions in a row and Neon capitalized with a score each time gettin them back in the game. We were LUCKY to come away with a win, we had to put the starters back in to do so. Honestly it's a lose/lose/lose situation. Had Derossett left the starters in he would get blasted for not havin any "class". Had Morgan came back on JV players and made a game out of it or possibly won he would get blasted for takin the starters out. And like what happened tonight, the JV blew em out out too and he gets blasted for it.

I do believe Pikeville kicked 4 FGs in the second half. And I highly doubt they had to each time. So yes, there is a coach somewhere in the state that would kick FGs the whole second half.

And I'm sure it was 4th down when they kicked em, not 1st.

He was told during halftime that he had tied it... But I think it was 22.

I don't think that is a correct stat, Matt Slone had 35 TD's during Prestonsburg's run to state in 2001

Congrats Prestonsburg

You may be right... I was told by another student that he had broke the record. But if I find out for sure that if he did or didn't I'll change the posts.

Maybe, but I don't think so. I've known Coach Jackson to kick on 1st before. But anyway, congrats to Pburg.

Not surprising, Congrats P-Burg!

Amen, Why is it that no matter what one does there are some people that can't be pleased. They have to argue every time.

Good post Redneck. I get tired of reading posts where a coach gets criticized after his team scores a lot of points in a game. It's football, people. If you don't want the other team to score 70 on you, do something about it. What are P-Burg's players supposed to do the whole second half, snap the ball and dive on the ground? Yeesh.

If the coach wants to put his second string in to get them experience and keep his starters fresh, that's fine. But don't crucify him for allowing his team to play. Even if he left his starters in the whole game, I still wouldn't consider it a sign of 'no class'.

If you are talking about touchdowns in a season Matt Slone had 35 his senior year. So I don't think that is correct.

Congrats P-Burg!

According to the stats that the school has given to the KHSAA, Allen Craynon would have had to score 16 TD's last night just to tie the record. I don't think that happened. Woulda been cool though. Congrats to P-burg and good luck next weekend against Shelby Valley.

That's cool. I remembered when I played basketball at Prestonsburg, it seemed like everything you did was just about to break the school record. Does anyone really know what the school records are? I have never seen nor heard of anyone who has actually seen the school record book. Sometimes I think people just make up their own records. Smile
