This Estill team leads the state in ALL classes in rushing for the season. This is also mostly the same Estill team that came to Russell in 06 and moved the ball against the state runner up.
No disrespect to anyone, but Estill's leading the state in rushing is a smoke and mirrors fascade. I would bet that almost any decent rushing team would lead the state in rushing categories against the likes of:
Pineville
Bourbon County
Powell County
Berea
Phelps
Cawood (twice)
Magoffin County
Knott County Central (twice)
Fleming Co.
They are a whopping 30-65, and are not close to being any type of powerhouses.
And, I went back and checked the Russell website, which has the stats from 2006 Estill Co game. Russell won 41-8, and gave up 152 yards rushing on 45 carries (3.37 yards per carry) and no passing yards.

Estill's stats are deceiving but that's how you build a program. You get a program and it's players used to winning and before long they'll get over the hump against the traditional powerhouses. Then before you know it they're serious contenders.
Because then they believe they can win against anyone.

Good Luck to both teams from this Belfry supporter. Ive got to pull for the Red Devils though. There's not a classier coach in the state than Coach McGlone. My two cents on this game deal with the Breathitt "weak" schedule. This years schedule is very similar to the schedules the Bobcats faced in their championship seasons of '95,'96 and '02, weak and untested. But if my memory serves me, the Bobcats still marched on to a championship in all 3 seasons. My point is that what is perceived as a weak schedule makes absolutely no difference to the Bobcats if they have the talent many seemed to say they have. They've won it all before playing a weak schedule and I think its one of the most overrated excuses any of us tend to us in high school football. Bottom line is Breathitt is probably a year away from making the trip to Louisville and I see Russell being too much for the young Bobcats. Go Devils, I hope we can pull out the win this week and meet up again next week for round 4.

I wish both teams the best and hope there are no injuries.
