Colby Hayes is a good baseball player but he can't carry the Raiders on his back. The loss of Slone doesn't help their chances either. Allen Central should win the District, leaving Prestonsburg, Betsy Layne, and South Floyd fighting it out for 2nd place..

The key for Allen Central getting by Prestonsburg this year is whether or not Scotty Little will be on the mound for the Rebels... Just my opinion though.

Prestonsburg didn't look good last season. They should win the district though. They have a few good bats in the line-up. AC may be if P'burg falters. South Floyd and Betsy lane will gunning for the last two spots.

But Allen Central beat prestonsburg 3 times last year by a combined score of 29-12. A.C. was also 8 and 0 in the district. A.C. lost really only one starter last year. So right now I am going with A.C.

I think Allen Central is the best team in the district, but Pburg is very close behind. It hurts Pburg where Bobby Hughes is out. Pitching, hitting, and playing the glove. But Allen Central will be fine this year even with Scott Little out, they played alot last year without him. But dont get me wrong, they are going to be hurting without him in the lineup and the mound, if hes healthy, arguably the best player in the region. But Allen Central has the same team as last year, besides one starter, with a new coach Allen Central may turn a few heads. JMO

IMO here are the some good players from each team
AC/Scotty Little, Alex Hammonds, Josh Prater
Pburg/Josh Rodebaugh, Bobby Hughes
BL/Brennan Case
SF/Colby Hayes

how good are these teams in the 58th, i mean as far as the rest of the 15th goes i have never really heard of too many of them going very far in the postseason, i was just wondering if any of them have a shot of making an impact on the regional tournament this year?

AC is the only team who has a chance to make noise in region.

The Rebels did have quite a few games with out Scott last season. Justin Jackson played outfield while Scott batted in some games. While Scott sat out completely in some games. AC started 5 Freshmen last season- (Chad Nelson, Chris Stumbo, Justin Jackson, Logan Crowder and Hunter Crowder) these boys have a year of experience behind them and should be ready to produce this season. Josh Prater will be the only junior starter returning along with seniors Alex Hammonds and Scott Little. The Rebels will be looking to fill 3rd base this season. The Rebels may get off to a slow start this season as the baseball players make the transition from basketball to baseball. 6 of the 8 returning starters are also on AC's varsity basketball roster.

IMO Allen Central will be on top of the district up until 2010. They have one of the stongest underclass of anyone in the 58th and possibly the 15th reigon.

Allen Central should still be the favorite as they have won the past 3 district championships under their last coach. The old saying goes, "To be the best, you have to beat the best."
Prestonsburg may very well be ready and poised to win their first district title in while. However, without Hughes, they lose a big spot in their offense, and on the field.
Betsy Layne and South Floyd will battle it out for the next 2 spots, but don't be surprised if South Floyd turns a few heads in district play. The talent is there, but we'll just have to see how that turns out.

Hughes will be ready to my knowledge for the start of this baseball season.

If this is true, then Prestonsburg will be a big factor in the 58th. He really came on as a pitcher toward the end of last season and the Blackcats may be poised to make a good run.
