More people die annually from drunk driving than dog bites, so using your reasoning should we not own alcohol? Should we not own cars?

It is the combination of drinking and driving that makes it dangerous, just as it is the combination of neglect, criminal intent, and purposely training the dogs to fight that results in ANY breed of dog being dangerous.

No, as a society, we know that type of action doesn't work. We should be educated and responsible, just as dog owners should be educated and responsible.
Is it worth spending time in federal pen on murder charges to you, if you happened to be the owner of a pit bull that killed a kid? That is exactly what you are held responsible for and can potentially be charged with. That is exactly what you as an owner are liable for. If I was the parent of any kid that was killed by one of these fuzzy, cuddley, warm, loving dogs. That is exactly what I would seek.

Your full of interesting stats and common sense remarks. People are crazy when it comes to animals.

You can't say that every dog fatality would result in the owner being charged with murder.

It has to be looked at on a case by case basis. If the owner was neglecting, training the dog for fighting, etc. then yes, the owner should be held responsible in some way.

You've yet to show me one institutionally backed study that shows that pit bulls are inherent killing machines.

I appreciate your sarcasm. Rolleyes Every piece of information I have given you has come from dog bite/dog attack studies, temperament studies, reports, and statistics.

You can run away from any of the facts I am giving you, but you have yet to prove a single point that you've made.

I have a question?

How did this thread go from a loving pet owner wanting some advice to get his pet well again to a discussion of who should own what kind of pet?

Let's try to keep it on topic. If we want to discuss the inherent bad qualities of animals feel free to start a thread.

No need in starting a new thread, my points have all been made.

Now, here's a good website with information on Parvo.

From reading, keeping the dog hydrated is a big part of the treatment.

Well Bell is getting better each day. She is slowly starting to eat and drink again on her own. You know I was one of those people who didnt like pit bulls until I got Bell. She is so loving and smart. She listens to what I tell her and when anyone else tells her to stop she will.

Now as far as the owners being charged with Murder it will never happen in KY unless they change the laws. If you guys remember the little girl in Blaine Ky (Lawrence Co) that was attacked by dogs and was tore to pieces but survived. I was the officer that tried to get Felony charges against the owners of the dog that attacked her and all we could charger them with was in the lower court and the dog was put to sleep and that was it.
It all goes back to how the owners treat the dog and teach the dogs.

But for all those that offered their prayers I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!!!!

As I stated earlier the pit bull links are off the intended topic of this thread. If you feel that it would be a good topic for discussion feel free to start a thread. But please keep this thread on it's intended topic.

You may have created a monster. Now she will always look at you with them sad little puppy dog eyes and beg for food.Smile

Have you tried Hill's science diet puppy food? Both my girls eat it real well but it is making the big girl fat because it is full of extra puppy calories.

Science Diet is really good, and what the vet always recommends.

Midee, try getting the Weight Control Science Diet, that may help.

My dog is like that. He only wants real food or canned, wet food. Good to hear that she is back eating, and more importantly, drinking water.

The problem is that I can't keep Baby from eating the puppy food. Another 5 months and they will both be on the same food. So then she should stay slender.

By getting fat I meant she has gained 6 ounces. She went from 8lbs 6 ounces to 8lbs 12 ounces. Big Grin
