yea Lawrence County is full of rumors about football, but Blake did try as hard as he could but just couldnt seem to get the team to believe in his style of play, but its really hard to put in a passing offense with a tradionally a belly school. And I just wanna know how is this Rollins guy everyone keeps talking about?

ill be honest ive really never heard of him...i have alot of friends and a few family members who are from lc and i really hate it whats happened over the past few years with their team...ive heard he's bringing in a few from marshall...i mean i understand where he would be coming from not wanting a few of the assistants back...i think over the years its seemed that the coaching staff kept getting more and more divided and if he wants to be successful he'll have to definetely surround himself with people that he can trust, from what ive heard of him i know he didn't really have anything personal against anybody i think he's making a good decision with the overall aspect of the program...i know in paintsville it wouldn't go over very well at all for an outsider to come in, and not want locals who were already on the staff. i just hope the community will embrace what he's trying to do, but everyone knows how politics are...i wish him the best of luck....does anyone know who all he is keeping from last years staff??

You were given bad information on that one. The coach they had before Luke did a terrible job with that class, meaning Shepherd, James and that group. You could tell that he didn't want to be there.

I would agree with you dawgmom; Luke did very will with this first year coaching at the middle school; the players liked him that goes a long way in building a team that respects you and would do anything they were asked of them

Luke will make a good head coach for LC;

The players lost alot of respect to the coaches as well to their team mates in the last couple of years; you could see the that the moral was down every game even when the players did good the team sprit wasn't there.

I think it was time for a big change in the program

When you can see parents in the stands calling what plays they were going to do next u know the other teams could see what was going on.

win or loss I will give Luke and his new staff all the support

Good Luck

Luke and LC Dawgs next year and years to come.

Look for a more typical Lawrence County team on the field this fall. BTW, Coach Rollins was a linemen for UK a couple of years back and he knows offensive line like nobody else. He assisted me this past fall with the 6th grade youth team and our line play was great. I have faith that Rollins and Sammons will have LC firing off of the ball and getting to the 2nd level with the linebackers. I like what I am hearing.

IMO I dont think he had a grudge against any of the coaches, I think it was just time for a new change in a coach and some new assistants, but being a LC alumni now I hope and pray he can get the good times rolling again in Louisa

Well I'd like to know why these assistants coming in from other places would want to just coach for little pay because there is absolutely no way the school system can hire them to a permanent position. If they hire any of these out of county guys to more than just asst coaching positions, then I can guarantee you that people will go crazy (mainly teachers, parents, etc.). We are supposedly "broke" in the school system. I don't see them creating any new positions for anyone.

I say the old coaching staff remains.

Well to start with who said they were getting paid.

Rollins will be a good pickup for the dawgs. He's a great guy.

Just don't ask him about the LSU miracle game against the cats.

from what i was told a lot of them are mainly on volunteer basis, and they are old teammates of Salmons looking to get into coaching, and other than those couple the rest will be already in the school system...if i am wrong about this let me know but thats what ive been told on several occasions when this topic got brought up...a couple of people have mentioned that a few coaches from last season that have decided not to coach next season left on their own...they told me they were asked to stay on but on demoted terms, to where they would not be coaching at the level they had been in the past and less responsibility....im just confused on which ones are staying and which ones are leaving...if anyone has any information on that i would love to know...

ive heard alot about a guy named skinner...they say he's really good and for sure going to be on the staff, possibly as a coordinator

Everything is rumours right now. There is a lot of speculatioin about what is going to happen but like most of the Lawrence County threads on here the majority are wrong. There is a good chance that a lot of this stuff comes true but as of right now the staff isn't put together. I've been linked to already having a certain job on here and I don't have a clue what I'm doing yet. Just be patient and let the chips fall where they may. Luke is a great guy that will need a lot of support from the LC fans. I hope I'm on board but if I'm not then I will support him and our Bulldogs 100%!

yea those are really the only other two that i had heard that wasn't going to be coaching...the ones i heard that may be still on the staff are cecil, preece, Qb from marshall, and possibly a couple of the baseball coaches but not sure on names...if anybody can help me out on the names...i think the QB is skinner...but other than that i haven't heard any other names...

We'll just have to wait and see.

Does Lawrence Co. have a full schedule?
#52
Not for sure yet. Last I heard they were still working on it.

Whats the team gonna look like compared to last year? Better? Not quite as good? Sounds like you all are surrounding the new head coach with good Asst.'s, which is always a good thing. Cecil was one of the top 10 coaches Ive ever met or seen coach.
#56
So whats everyone think this team will do with a new coaching staff.... Myself I can see a big improvement in there work ethic.. We still have a tough schedule but if we can sneak a win here or there I think we will be in fine shape. We are still about a year or two away from getting back to where we were at.

I think Lawrence will be much improved. Shep is as good of an athlete as you will find in Eastern KY. and I thought he was the better QB last year. I think Lawrence would benefit from going away from the spread offense and get back to some more of the Belly and Vear that made them so tough in the 90's. Lawrence will get back on track it is just a matter of time.
#58
I think for Lawrence Co. to get back on top would be more depth on the
offensive and defenvise lines.
They've always been able to knock people off the ball and contoll the line.
Ball games are won and lost in the trenches!
