Magoffin vs. Paintsville
#1
I was wondering what everyone was thinnking about this one. I think that Magoffin has a great shot of a huge upset due to P-ville having no pitching. Whats everyones thought?

who told you paintsville had no pitching...they have at least 4 kids that have all innings available......imo paintsville is coming off of a season changing performance at the all A and will probably roll this one up in 5 with their freshman lefty on the mound......there is a big difference in facing the best pitching in the state and putting up 1-3 runs and facing the pitching they will see today....given the power in paintsville's lineup you just might see a multi homer blowout...

I really hope that we dont ree the same power that got them beat by Sheldon Clark... Or the same power that lead them to a 3-0 win over Johnson Central... Yea Johnson Central beat Magoffin 3-1 throwing thier #1 and #2 in the game but Magoffin leaft 12 runners on they had thier chances to take that game...
As far as pitching goes yea..,. P-ville burnt all thier pitching! No Grimmy, Lyons, etc... When they are not on the hill you all are simply a much different, and much more beatable team. So take all that hitting power and score much more then you have in the previous district games...
You guys that bleed blue absolutley kill me... you only see things with blinders on.

No pitching.... just keep thinking that. I would love to see multi-homers in this one for the Tigers!

That lefty from Paintsville is going to be a stud. I think he is an eighth grader and I was really impressed with him when I seen him. I think he will take care of Magoffin County very easily. This one should be done in 5 innings. I am going to go out on a limb and say 15-2 in favor of the Tigers.

He is a freshman, I think. Paintsville can pull thru. Go Tigers

The lefty is a freshman and they also have Cyrus, Vanhoose, Lemaster and I think Ison who are able to pitch. I think that this weekend was a turning point for this Tiger team. They proved to themselves and everyone else what they can do. I look for the Tigers to roll in this one.

magoffin is much better than everybody thinks they are and i think that this game will end up with a surprising score

well for one we scored 10 runs in the sheldon clark loss and if you know anything about baseball (high school) then you know that most of the regular season games have little relevence therfore it is sometimes tough depending on the weelky schedule to play great every game and put your best foot forward all of the time.. I may have blinders on but you will definately see a different paintsville team the remainder of the season and they roll very easily in this one......mercy in 5 and I say jackson pitches close to shut out baseball!!!
and another thing Rice pitched 4 innings of shut out baseball against the 2 X defending all "A" champs ( Owensboro Catholic aces) so the Tigers are deeper in competetive pitching, espically against 15th region competition than you give them credit for... SO think what you want about this team But I would not want to be in their path at this point in the season.......

Regardless of what anybody from Magoffin thinks, they are not anywhere near the top as far as the 57th is concerned. They are a very weak team with weak pitching, and I say Paintsville, especially with how good they can pounce on mediocre fastballs, will mercy the Hornest in 5 innings. If there was a such thing as a 3 inning mercy they would do that as well. It is just not in the cards at this point in the season for Magoffin to make an upset, especially with the way the Tiger's are playing.

I completely agree with ya JackRabbitSlim.

Paintsville 5 Magoffin 2 where was that 3 inning mercy ? Magoffin had the bases loaded 3 different innings and couldnt get over the hump 3 errors in the 1st... 5 for the game not the pouncing of fastballs by paintsville murders row done them in .I grant you that Grimm wasnt pitching , but they hit that kid that was pitching pretty good. To keep yourself from looking bad I would quit making predictions on a team ( Magoffin ) that you dont know to much about.

Great post FAN! If you look at the Hornets schedule you will notice that they have lost 10 games by 3 runs or less, 11 after tonight! In each of these games they have left almost 10 runners on base. If you add 1 hit to each of these games then the Hornets possibly get wins... That is the difference in them being 6-15 and 15-6. All you all want to go on is how there team has played and presented them selves in the past. Well the past is no longer here in Magoffin County! We have kids and the kids coming up to be competitive... If nothing else, the way they have played this season and the schedule they have played should have earned them some respect even with out any type of tradition. I still want to know though... What happened to that 3 inning mercy rule and where was all that power in the Tigers line up.
However, I would also like to say congrats to the kids from P-ville... They have a great ball team and they should all be proud of the season they have put togeather. However, the Hornets should also be proud they too have a great ball team that is just needing that one big hit that will get them over the hump!

Okay... let me put it to you like this, baseball is a team sport. The "kid", who was pitching, was on the mound for his 3rd time this season... he is 3-0 now. (along with the help of Ison and Vialpando... it's great when everyone can play and help the team be successful!)
You know it really doesn't matter if it's a strike out or if the ball is in play for an out... it's an out. Unless they drop it intentionally....LOL!
Good game Tigers!

Let me put it to you like this. I will keep my predictions however I choose, and I don't know what your so happy about they still lost. It cracks me up when you guys think a moral victory is sufficient, it means nothing. The kid that threw for Paintsville has barely pitched all year, and it says a lot whenever you can put a kid on the mound with little or no experience and still expect to win. Paintsville knew they could put anyone on the mound and still win, it doesn't matter. I will congratulate Magoffin on the fact that they have played teams more competitive this year than the years past, but they are still losing. So just to not make YOU look too bad how bout you not talk so much trash when your still losing.
